OK so, this is an original story I've had in my head for awhile and i finally got to writing it. Its a wlw romance with a psychological kinda horror theme to it. If this is something that people like ill definitely write more of it. This was originally 2 chapters but i just turned it into one to make life easier lol.
Summery: our main character visits her father in prison then makes a romantic dinner for 2
It was quiet, the waiting room always was, especially at 3pm on a Tuesday. Filling out the forms had become routine, 1 for the staff and 2 for the inmate's visitor. Name, age, relation, filling out those forms had become second nature. She adjusted her blond hair to fit snugly behind her ear before getting up from her seat and walking to the front desk.
“Ive finished filling out these forms ma’am”
the prison guard looked up from her computer and past the glass.
“here to visit your father again Jessika?” she said as he lifted one eyebrow.
“Is there anybody else I come here to visit?”
“Touche,”
the guard said with a click of her tongue. Jessika slid the forms into the small gap in the glass waiting patiently as the guard looked them over.
“All right, have a seat, they’ll call your name when they’re ready for you”
“thank you ma’am.”
Jessika turned around, walking back into the waiting room and plopping down in the same chair. The prison waiting room was the same as always. Cold grey stone tile with beige walls decorated with nothing other than a clock and a Canadian flag pinned above the entrance door. 4 rows of red chairs. Sturdy ones, not the flimsy foldable ones.
“Jessika Manning?”
Asked a male guard who looked like he'd seen everything in the book; called out into the nearly empty waiting room.
“right here.” Jessika stood up walking over to the guard.
“Follow me.” With the cock of his head he led her down an eerie hallway with two large metal detectors at the end.
“Empty your pockets onto this tray and step through”.
Jessika knew this game all too well. Her hands entered her short pink skirt which thankfully had pockets and emptied them onto the tray in front of her. Her phone, her wallet, a pen, a pack of cigarettes, a lighter, and a singular piece of mint gum.
“Aint you a little young to smoke?”
As the guard spoke Jessika noticed a small southern twang to his voice not uncommon for rural Alberta.
“No sir. I can show you my ID if you’d like?” “That won't be necessary but both the cigarettes and the lighter are considered contraband. We’ll keep them in a locker until your visit is done.”
Jessika nodded her head. “I understand”
The guard then gestured with his hand to the metal detector, a silent demand she steps through. The metal detector stayed silent as she passed through, she learned to not to wear anything containing metal. On one of her first visits to the prison she wore a necklace with a metal chain, setting off the metal detector. The male guard tried to spin it into an excuse to strip search her before a female guard came to her aid and convinced him otherwise.
“Looks like you're all good, Miss Manning. Head over to section 1 and your father will be with you shortly”
The guard showed no emotion but Jessika could hear the venom in his voice as he said the word “father”.
“Thank you sir”
she said and walked over to the first section, sitting in the seat and looking through the glass window in front of her. Now she has nothing to do but wait. It's always at times like this when she reminisces about her childhood. Her father braiding her hair, him being at all her school events, teaching her how to prepare and cooking family meals. Until it all came crashing down 2 years ago. She stopped her day dreaming when movement entered her vision.
“Ah! There you are! How are you my love?”
Her father, now sitting in front of her looks the same as he always has. Black hair speckled with grey, a light stubble visible on his chin.
“Hi daddy, I've been good, how about yourself?”
her father made a dramatic show of looking around the room
“Gah! Same old same old, nothing ever changes in this place.”
His theatrics always made Jessika smile. Her father turned back to her, his eyes looking somber, an unusual look for him
“Listen…” her father started
“I wish I could have been there for your 18th birthday… I'm so sorry for not being able to see you.. To share your first drink with you.”
Jessika could feel how sorry he was. Many people in their town would consider him a monster but not Jessika, he was her father, he taught her everything she knew, and she knew he was being genuine with her.
“I know daddy, I wish you could have been there too.. Maybe next time?”
Her fathers expression only got sadder
“Let's be realistic darling. I'm here for life. I only get parole after 25 years…there might not be a time where I AM there…I'm sorry".
She knew her father was being realistic but the words still hurt her heart. She couldn't imagine a future where he isn't there for her.
“But hey you're here to see me when you could be at school or out with your girlfriend so let's not focus on the sad stuff huh?”
Jessika blinked away the tears attempting to form and smiled weakly at her father “ok daddy”.
That was an hour ago now. Jessika had been home for about 30 minutes now and had just gotten out of the shower. Showering had always been a time for her to think, this time about her father. His words still lingered in her head
“there might not be a time where I AM there”
Each time they repeated in her head she felt herself becoming more sorrowful. The idea that her father wouldn't be there for some of the most important parts of her life made her heart break. Her graduation, her wedding, her first child, she had always imagined him there, holding her hand every step of the way. Wiping away the condensation on the mirror she looks at herself and sighs. Her hair wet, the white towel barely clinging onto her form, without her makeup the bags under her eyes are clearly visible. She takes a deep breath in and then exhales out her mouth. She couldn't let herself focus on something that can't be changed, after all she still has to prepare for the night. She had made up her mind. She had gotten ready in just under an hour, hair, makeup, and her outfit. Some may consider her fashion sense “bimbo-ish” but she never cared much about what society thinks she should wear. A short jean skirt with white ruffles at the bottom and bows, along with a cropped, off the shoulder pink sweater is both comfy and cute and her red bra peaking just over the sweater gave a little bit of sexyness to the outfit.
It's just before 5pm now, the only thing left to do is prepare a romantic dinner for 2. Tonight's menu is chicken alfredo pasta, easy, tasty, and romantic. Instead of using her usual choice of meat Jessika decides chicken is the better choice. Chicken is safer, more contained. Cooking is one of her favorite things, it was something her and her father would do together all time, before he went to prison that is. Her father always found a way to make her feel useful in the kitchen whether it was cracking eggs, stirring a pot of sauce, or handing him the ingredients she never felt like she was in the way. Jessika felt a smile form on her lips at the memories but now was not the time for reminiscing.
She starts by boiling a pot of water with a little bit of salt and adding in fettuccine noodles. While the noodles cook she heats up a pan and slices 2 boneless chicken breasts into cubes. She adds butter to the pan and then the chicken. She seasons the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a small amount of onion powder. Jessika cooks the chicken all the way through, removes them onto a separate plate and then begins making the sauce. In another pot she adds heavy cream, milk, parmesan and mozzarella cheese, and then a small amount of garlic. She stirs the sauce until it becomes thick. By now the noodles are cooked al dente so she drains the water from them, then adds the noodles and chicken into the sauce to simmer on low heat.
5:30pm, perfect, she's on track. Jessika walked to the dining table and spread out a deep red table cloth. In the middle she set one long candle and lit it, then on opposite sides of the table laid out 2 plates and 2 sets of silver wear. She grabbed the pot of food and put a portion of the chicken alfredo onto each plate, garnished with a small amount of parsley for some color. Now all she had to do was wait. Glancing at the clock it read 5:45. Jessika had no idea why she was always this nervous before a date, after all they were already dating, she didn't have to be so-
Dingdong
Jessika practically ran to the door, with shaking hands she opened it to reveal her girlfriend Sasha.
“Hi Jessie! Ready to “study”?
Sasha laughed at the air quotations she put on the word study While Jessika just stood there with nothing but a love sick smile stuck on her face while she looked at her girlfriend. Sasha's black hair was freshly cut into the iconic scene hairstyle. Her outfit was a tight blue T shirt with a black design and rhinestones on it, her pants being low rise white jean shorts with torn tights and matching white fur leg warmers. “Hi my love..”
Jessika finally stuttered out when she realized her gawking. Jessika stepped aside letting Sasha step inside her small apartment. Sasha took a deep inhale once inside “ooooh that smells so good”.
Jessika stepped behind her girlfriend wrapping her arms around her waist and putting her head on her shoulder. Sasha leaned into Jessika, resting her head against Jessika's.
“You hungry?” Jessika asked, stepping away from her lover and to the dining table.
“Fuck yes. I'm always hungry for your cooking” Sasha said, walking toward the dining table.
“Well, you’re in luck then”
Jessika pulled out a chair, letting Sasha sit down. Walking to the other side of the dining table and sitting down she spoke
“well dig in”.
Taking her first bite Jessika found herself proud of the dish she created. The creamyness of the sauce really stuck to the chicken and the noodles, though maybe the sauce could have used some more seasoning, something small and simple like pepper. Though she never liked chicken due to its dryer texture the cheesy sauce paired well with it. Chicken has never been her favorite,it's dry, bland, and never as tender as she wants it to be. Looking to the other side of the table to ask her girlfriends opinion she saw a look of pure bliss on her face. Jessika smiled
“Is it good?” Sasha looked at her with wide eyes
“Good? Its fucking amazing babe”
She said before shoveling another bite into her mouth. Jessika couldn't help the smile that fell on her face. Whenever her and Sasha got together like this it felt like all her troubles magically melted away. Before she could get lost in her thoughts Jessika spoke “so, how was school for you today?”
Sasha swallowed her bite before speaking
“eh it was alright, you know how Brandon and his posse can be”
Ah yes Brandon. Brandon is your stereotypical jock. Captain of the football team, handsome, and everything served to him on a silver platter because of it. He's also a bully or an asshole if Jessika was the one describing him. He was constantly trying to get into her pants and he just so happened to pick her girlfriend as his target for his anger and frustrations.
“Ah that dick. What is he doing now?”
Jessika gripped her fork harder just picturing his face.
“Ah you know, the usual, Actually he was a bit calmer today, i think it was because you weren't there to see his MaNLy DisPlAY”
Sasha made a show of waving her hands at the last part.
“God, I want him dead. He's always trying to flirt with even though i dont even like men” Though Jessika could admit that was mostly because her and Sasha’s relationship was a secret. In a small town like Coyotes Grove if people knew they were in a homosexual relationship they’d be eaten alive. Jessika could honestly careless what people thought but with Sasha already being a target for bullying being out of the closet would make it 10x worse.
“Trust me, I do too but there's not a lot we can do about it”
Sasha was always the voice of reason in their relationship, if it wasn't for her Jessika would have made so many rash decisions regarding Brandon. But the thought of him dead lingered in her head longer than it should have.
“But hey you visited your dad today right? How was that?”.
The reminder of her father made her heart ache. Sasha was one of the only people who knew who her father was. Jessika was 16 when he went to jail and due to her being a minor her identity was protected and no one knew who his child was. Other than Sasha, the only other people who knew who her father was were teachers, doctors, and the people at the prison obviously.
“It was…ok he was sad he couldn't be there for my birthday… then we talked about how he’ll logically never get out of prison.”
Sasha looked a little sad for her but maybe that was just because she felt like she had to.
“Well he was like the worst serial killer in the town's history.. Still I get that's probably rough for you”
Sasha wasn't wrong, there's a very good reason he's in prison.
“Yeah murder, stalking, and cannibalism will definitely do that for you huh?”
Jessika was trying to lighten the mood but the slight widening in Sasha's eyes told her that her attempt failed.
Jessika finished her last bite of food and felt like the air was still tense. Before she could think about it Sasha stood up and grabbed her plate from her.
“You cooked the meal so ill be the one cleaning up”
Jessika looked up at her and was met with a bright genuine smile.
“You don't have to love, you’re my guest after all”
“Nope dont worry about it I got it”
Before Jessika can protest Sasha walks to the sink and begins washing the dishes. Jessika follows with a small smile on her face. Looking into the pot there is definitely enough for her to take to school tomorrow. She grabs a plastic container and puts the remaining food into the container and then into the fridge. Jessika looks at the time and it reads 6:45.
“When do you have to go home?” Jessika leans on the counter next to her girlfriend.
“Hmm my mum was able to have the day off today so I don't have to worry about my brother. Maybe around 11 is when i should go home”
Sasha finishes the dishes and begins drying her hands. Jessika comes behind her again and wraps her arms around Sasha's middle again just like she did before. “Soooo you're saying we have plenty of time before you have to head back?”
Jessika asks low in Sasha's ear, obviously trying to hint something to her. Sasha giggles.
“I guess I am. Why? Have something in mind to pass the time?”
She turns around, wrapping her arms around Jessika's neck, their faces inches apart.
“Oh I have a few ideas..”
Jessika smiles wickedly at Sasha before grabbing her hand and guiding her to her bedroom.
Davrin x gn Qunari reader who's super bothered about being taller than Davrin because they want to be small and holdable
please and thank you and have a good day/night <3
Davrin x gn qunari reader
i thought this idea was super cute. I've always been very tall and was pretty insecure about it as a kid so i get where this request is coming from. as my first request that i have answered i hope i did it justice and that you enjoyed it.<3
When you awoke your feet were cold, barely being covered by the blanket covering the rest of your body. You groaned already thinking about your to-do list today. You sit up from the bed, noticing your elven lover missing from your side, likely already awake and making Assans breakfast.
You stand from the bed careful about your large horns making sure they dont scratch the ceiling. Even among other qunari you were considered abnormally tall. When you had meet Taash, another qunari even they were taken aback by your heigh as you loomed over them. The thought made an uncomfortable feeling shiver down your spine.
As you walk out of the room you and Davrin had been sharing since admitting feelings for one another you spot him with Assan. The griffon noticing your presence stands up, quickly walking toward you with Davrin in tow. The small griffon gives you a greeting squawk and purrs as you bend down to pet him. Seeing him like this always reminds you of the first time you had met the pair.
after explaining to Davrin that the blighted camp next to you was like that when you got there you could help noticing the way he eyed you up and down. Not in a flirtatious manner but more calculating every part of you, seeing if he'd be able to hold his own against you if the need arose. And his griffon friend was half hiding behind him. whenever you tried to come closer he would let out a warning squawk almost like a hiss. They were threatened by you... part you you wondered if they would have reacted the same if you were smaller.
"Rook?..Rook!" you were snapped out of your thoughts looking at Davrin surprised. "Sorry did you say something?" you ask slowly standing up from bending down to Assan. " i did but are you alright?" his voice was always deeper in the mornings and you loved it but before you could get distracted by your thoughts once more you forced yourself to answer " yeah im alright whats up?". "I was just asking what you had planned today" Davrin replied walking toward the kitchen.
As you push open the kitchen doors walking inside you reply " I have more work to do as always. I need to go to arlathan today to help the veil jumpers weed out more venatori. I also need to head to treviso to help with the antam situation." Flashes of the antiven crows passes through your mind. The suspicious glances many would give you for being qunari, like they expected you to turn against them at any moment.
"Im guessing you'll need help with that?" Davrin once again pulling you from your thoughts, giving you a knowing smile. "i might need a hand or two" returning Davrins smile with a small one of your own. It was then when you realized you too were alone. "Is no one else up?" you ask looking around. "Nope just us. Bell is still working on the artifact and Lucanis is actually asleep for once so it looks like we're on our own for breakfast". Davrin turns and walks toward the oven, you follow close behind. As you approach, now standing next to him you ask "what should we make? preferably something we know we wont burn". Davrin chuckles at your comment "how about some bacon and eggs? easy to make and its a hearty breakfast". Mmm bacon does sound good right now. "sure bacon and eggs sounds great". Davrin looks up at you "good i'll get the fire going how about you get the eggs and bacon from the pantry?" "sure i can do that".
As you turn one of your horns knocks the pots and pans above you loosening them and causing them to fall. "OW shit.." the pans had fallen directly on Davrins head. Panic flows through you "Shit! Davrin! im so so sorry" you kneel next to him as he holds his head and sighs. "Its ok accidents happen right?" he hisses through the pain. "here let me look" he moves his hands away from his head allowing you to see where he'd been hit. Thankfully there was no bleeding but the area was already raised and starting to bruise. You feel awful, your stupid horns and your stupid height had gotten Davrin hurt and you felt a wave of emotions rush through you.
You turn your head away from him blinking away tears. "Hey rook its ok.." unfortunately for you, you couldn't escape his keen eyes. "No its not!" unable to hold back the tears you feel them fall down your cheeks. "I-I got you hurt all because my stupid fucking horns got in the because I'm to tall and- I'm so sorry Davrin". You could feel Davrins eyes widen at your out burst but you couldn't bring yourself to look at him. "I hate being tall fucking qunari".
"...You know I used to hate being an elf". His comment finally made you look at him with tears in your eyes. "Really?" You know that he disliked certain aspects of being an elf like being so secluded and the 'knife ear' comments but not hating being an elf in general. "Yeah I used to hate it, it always felt like something I needed to hide or be ashamed of" he looked up while speaking like reminiscing about old memories. "Why?" "I think it was a mix of feeling like I failed my family and people being assholes just because my ears are pointy". Davrin always seemed so confident you almost couldn't believe he hated anything about himself
"you know I like you being an elf" you said looking deep into his eyes, the eyes you loved so much."I know you do but I didn't until a few years ago" he gave you a small smile "how did you...get so confident?" You asked voice small very much unlike yourself. "It's something you just have to learn. That you can't change something so big about yourself just like my ears or your horns. And if you don't it just feels like they win" he brought a hand to your cheek. You leaned into it appreciating its warmth "a win for who?" "A win for those who doubted you, a win for those thoughts that make you feel less then you actually are"
he brought his forehead to yours and closed his eyes. It was a small moment of peace in this chaos, where your thoughts went silent and the idea of what's to come faded into the back of your mind. As you parted Davrin gave you a kiss to the lips, a gentle one filled with love and sincerity that you both enjoy each other just the way you are. That there was no reason that either of you needed to change. You parted once more before Davrin stood up with a groan. Following him you ask "do you want me to get Ballara and see if she can do anything about the pain and bump?" "Nah I'll be alright, I just gotta take it easy for a bit".
After breakfast your day went rather smoothly, any thoughts about your height or horns had disappeared you felt more confident after your talk with Davrin. Back at the light house you settle into Davrins bed, Assan laying down just at the foot of the bed. You snuggle under the covers your head on Davrins chest. You begin to doze off, the work and stress of today catching up to you when Davrin whispers in your ear, so quite that you could barely hear it. "I like your height and your horns I mean it.." you smile a small blush coloring your face. "And I love your ears..just as much as I love you"

How veil guard characters react to you sleeping on Assan headcanons
i've had this idea in my head for awhile now so i decided to go ahead and do it instead of waiting for requests lol
the intro takes place after the siege of weisshaupt where yall haven't confessed yet but the tension is there its kinda long you don't have to read all of it but i was excided to write it.
GN reader
Intro:
your head aches with an unbearable pain that comes and goes, maybe you were hit in the head by one to many darkspawn but you shouldn't be surprised, weisshaupt was hard one everyone not just for you. ....Weisshaupt... the screams of all the wardens dying replays in your head. Those people signed up to fight the blight and dark spawn not a god let alone 2.
Seeing Davrins defeated face at every new warden body you stumbled across makes you feel guilty. guilty for disturbing Solas's ritual and causing the gods to break free. Guilty for Davrin and Lucanis going at each others throats for messing up. You should have payed more attention to your team, made sure they were ready for this fight. But both Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain walked away alive. You replay the entire battle in your head over and over again trying to figure out what you did wrong with little success.
The blinding pain in your skull returns once more, You roll to your other side in your bed hoping to find a more comfortable position to sleep in. The pain shoots from one side to the other making you sigh. "Well this isn't working" you say, getting up from your bed with difficulty. you stumble into the hallway to the railing of the second floor of the lighthouse. Quiet.. everyones asleep.
you push open the doors to the light house and step into the light of the fade. Right.. time doesn't move here.. its always light outside, your never gonna get used to that. As you suspected no ones awake its quiet almost to quiet. your starting to wonder why you came out side before
*squawk* you look around and see the young griffon standing a little away from you, right outside Davrins room as always. The little griffon tilts his head at you like asking what your doing up. "Hey Assan" you walk over to him, sticking out your hand to pet him, scratching behind his ear just how he likes. You realize just how soft his feathers are, your starting to get sleepy just petting him.
before you can get up to try to go to sleep again Assan gently bites on of your fingers before laying down almost trying to get you lay down with him. Does he know your having difficulty sleeping? is he smart enough to realize that?. He looks at you with these puppy eyes purring and gently gnawing on your finger. Aw what the hell he might just help you sleep. laying down on the hard ground and using Assan as a pillow is the last thing you remember before slipping into sleep
Bellara
Working on the Nadas Dirthalen was tiring. she had been working for HOURS trying to ask the right question and getting the spirit to cooperate with her but she's had no luck
maybe getting something to eat will help? yeah getting a snack sounds good. and then maybe a nap.
she leaves her room, walking to the kitchen when..
was rook curled up with Assan? or was she seeing something else in her peripheral?.
Turning around to see you sleeping with Assan is the cutest thing she's seen in awhile
after Weisshaupt she was honestly worried about you. She thought you might be taking what happened hard and blaming yourself for Ghilan'nain getting away but if it wasnt for you, you guys wouldn't have even killed her archdemon
she's happy your getting rest you deserved. you've helped her and the team so much she knows you deserve the rest and she doesnt dare trying to wake you up
she quickly goes to her room and grabs a blanket she wasn't using and carefully drapes it over your sleeping body, giving Assan a pet while he's asleep to
she gush's about how cute you are once more before you going back to her room to sleep herself, forgetting all about her snack
Davrin
when he wakes up the first thing he noticed was that Assan wasn't at the foot of his bed like usual. Where has his feathery companion gone?
getting up and seeing his door open was the first sign of trouble, when the hell did Assan learn to open doors??
he gets outside and immediately starts scanning for Assan
when he finds him he definitely didn't expect to see you as well
he comes over to inspect what's going on he finds you fast asleep face first in Assans feathers
he'd be lying if he said his heart didn't skip a beat or two
Davrin likes you, he hasn't tried to be subtle about it either. One of the things that draws him to you is how good you are with Assan even if he thinks you spoil him to much
seeing you like this with Assan might just solidify that fact for him
he decides he cant just leave you sleeping on the ground like this. Assan might be comfy but the ground beneath you sure isn't
he picks up your sleeping form despite Assans complaining squawk and takes you up to his room, Assan following close behind.
he lays you down on his bed. Assan jumps up and lays down right by your feet. "cute" Davrin thinks to himself
you didn't even stir when he picked you up, you must have been really tired
....maybe its because of weisshaupt or what happened after it.
he should go apologize to Lucanis, take something off your plate. he stands up walking to the kitchen leaving you to rest.
emmrich
he had been up late looking for any information he could find about the hand of glory you all had recovered from the Necropolis
it was old magic now a days forbidden from being preformed so his knowledge on it was limited
he had sent Manfred to recover a book he lent to Bellara awhile ago now. What is taking him so long?. Did he get lost around the light house perhaps?
he walked outside the light house to see Manfred hovering over something. His skeletal form blocking Emmrich's view but he could see somebody laying on the ground
was somebody hurt?!. he ran over to assist but it was just you sleeping on Assan
while he was happy you weren't hurt he thought that surely there were more comfortable places to sleep then on a messy griffon
*hiss* Manfred let out a concerned hiss while pointing at your sleeping forms
"yes i see them Manfred, what shall i do? i don't think sleeping on Assan is very sanitary but i don't wish to disturb their rest"
he asked Manfred Not expecting much of a reply. He already knew what he was going to do
he reached down gently shaking your shoulder. "rook, dear, wake up"
you wake up already missing the little sleep you were able to catch. "oh uh hi Emmrich" sleeping on Assan probably wasn't the best idea, your back was already hurting.
"rook are you alright? why are you sleeping on the ground?" his face was full of concern "i uh couldn't sleep I guess Assan looked to comfy"
Emmrich sighed at your response "rook do you remember me offering to teach Bellara some breathing techniques to help her relax?"
"yeah i do why?" you responded still a little disoriented
"why don't i teach you some as well to help you sleep of course. Manfred could make us some calming tea as well" he offered his hand to help you up
"actually... that be really nice Emmrich..thanks" Emmrichs face got hot at your sincerity but covered it with a smile
"of course rook its nothing, now lets get you inside"
you both walk into the light house Manfred trailing behind leaving a grumpy Assan outside
Harding
"Mmmm..Ahh" Harding stretched, standing up from her bedroll
she was finally starting to get used to having dreams now. Even starting to feel well rested after waking up
she was planning on going to Rivain and training with the lords of fortune to keep practicing her new magic. Weisshaupt was hard and she wanted- no needed to be better for the next fight with the gods
she wonders if maybe you would like to come with her. She knows you took Weisshaupt hard, it was hard for everyone but she cant even imagine what your feeling right now
it would be fun to get you out of the light house and doing something that wasnt trying to save the world
she leaves her bedroom, walks into the light house, up to your room and.. your not here? huh weird maybe your in the kitchen
she leaves and walks up the steps past the workshop and that's when she sees you and Assan
"... oh my gosh rook are you sleeping on Assan?" she chuckled walking up to you and Assan seeing you completely knocked out
... you looked so peaceful sleeping and pretty too..... ok she's just being creepy now isn't she
when she was in the inquisition she worked as a scout, she's slept on grass, rocks, pavement, and sometimes even trees. She knows that no matter what it ends in a hurting back and neck. It'd be best to wake you up now
"hey..hey rook" she gently shook your shoulder waking you up
"huh- oh uh hi Harding"
"morning sleepy head, what'cha doing sleeping on Assan?" she asked smiling down at you
"i uh couldn't sleep but Assan is just really soft" Harding giggled "well if you keep doing that your back is gonna hurt like hell, come on ill try making you some coffee, and ill make you my ham and jam slam"
"thanks Harding id love that" you stand up. Yup Harding was right your back is starting to hurt already
"I was also going to go to the lords of fortune to train again you should come with me yeah?" she asked walking to the kitchen
"yeah id like to spend some time with you Harding" ".....me to!" Harding replies smiling at you as you both walk into the kitchen.
Lucanis
he hasn't slept. All he can see in his head is Ghiln'nain. He was so close. There was no reason for why he missed. He was sure he could do this. "A crow never fails a contract." Those words from his grandmother replaying in is head from before she..
He's survived this night using coffee, he's on his fourth cup now. He needed to stay awake to make sure spite cant take control. Everyone should be awake by now, time to get ready for the day.
he leaves the pantry into the kitchen and starts to make a large pot of coffee for everyone. What should he make for breakfast?. His mind wonders to you. Maybe he should make your favorite breakfast but... oh he cant remember what it is.
cant kill, now he cant remember what else cant he do.
maybe he should just find you and ask what you'd like for breakfast
he walks outside and spots you and Assan immediately. strange.. what were you doing.
walking over he's able to tell your asleep. Your even breaths and eyes closed peacefully gives it away but why were you out here sleeping on the floor and not in your bed?
*sniffs* "smells like...guilt, regret, and the sting of failure" ah great he's awake. "What are you talking about?" he asks as the demon of spite materializes beside him looming over your sleeping form
"rook! obviously!. The old stench of failure is intense" ..."failure of what?" "WEISSHAUPT. they think they failed usss" "it wasn't them that failed it was me i had her so close.. and i missed"
"not to them no.. to them they should have fought harder, saved more, helped more!"
you shouldn't feel like this. it was him that failed. You were the only reason he even got close to Ghilan'nain.
He bent down reaching out to you. "NO DONT WAKE THEM" "why?" he pulls back surprised by the demons insistence "they just fell asleep despite the pain.. let them sleep" "why do you care spite?" "I like them... much more than i like you" He sighed looking back at you
he reach forward and brushed a piece of you hair away form your face. he stood up. "Where are you going?" "to make breakfast"
he'll wake you once breakfast is ready. And he'll work harder to make sure you don't have to feel guilty ever again.
Neve
notes, notes, and more notes. They were littered all over her desk, floor, and on her bed. As cute as they were the wisps had been no help, she even caught one trying to take her notes out the window into the fade.
She had slept very little with the idea of Aelia being back in Dock Town plaguing her mind. She needed to catch her before she caused more chaos but she had ran out of leads awhile ago.
Sitting here isn't going to help. But Coffee might. Then she can go into Dock Town and talk with some contacts.
Walking out of her room she spotted you and Assan immediately. She chuckled to herself, walking over to the two of you. "Well isn't this sweet" no response, "Rook?" still nothing
it was then that she noticed your closed eyes and even breaths. Why were you sleeping out here?. Just then Assan opened his eyes cooing softly at Neve
"hey Assan what are you and rook doing sleeping out here?" he squawked quietly in response. "Really?" she was talking to the griffon like she understood him, a Habit she picked up recently
"well come on Assan ill give you a treat or two before Davrin wakes up". When the griffon didn't follow her she was surprised, he's usually very food motivated.
she sighed crouching down to his level, scratching his chin.
She glanced over to you, noticing the heavy circles under your eyes. It was about Weisshaupt wasn't it?. You were much easier to read then you think.
as time passed you awoke groaning, sitting up and feeling pain shoot up your back. "Ow..." "morning sleepy head". Startled you look beside you to see Neve sitting on the ground Assan's head in her lap, drinking a cup of coffee
"oh uh hi Neve how long have you been there?" "long enough to notice you snore in your sleep. Had trouble sleeping?" she asked Taking a sip of her coffee " yeah I guess i just fell asleep on Assan but- did you stay here with me while i slept?" she turns her head away dodging the question completely and stood up.
"come on i made a pot of coffee for everyone. You should come down to Minrathous with me, ill treat you to some of Hal's fish fry" she said, walking to the kitchen. If you had been able, you would have seen the dark blush she was hiding with a smirk as she walked away.
Taash
they were sitting on the floor of their room, wraping the last rope of the Dar-saam ritual around their arm. They stood up and took a deep breath before walking out of their room.
They had another thing to do for their mother. "Taash, shokra toh ebra" the words from their mother was always in their head. They would probably be hearing more of it from her through out the day.
Walking out of the light house they weren't even able to take a step before noticing you on the ground. Taash walked over to you sleeping body. "you good?" they didn't get an answer. "...Are you asleep?".... That was a dumb question obviously you were asleep, but on the ground? seriously? that's gonna kill your back when you wake up.
Looking around they thought, should they take you to bed? the grounds pretty uncomfortable no matter how peaceful and cute you looked sleeping on Assan.
Before Taash could process their thoughts they were already picking you up from the ground, trying their best not to wake you.
They pushed the light house doors open with their back and quietly climbed up the stairs. Until one of them creaked to loudly and you immediately began to stir form your sleep.
"what- uh Taash?" "....sup" "what are you doing..?" Taash looked away from your face and instead faced off to the side "taking you to bed.. duh" "but why?" "sleeping on the ground is gonna kill your back. So im taking you to your room." they said very matter of factly, continuing up the stairs.
"... you could have just woken me up you know" you said heat rushing up on your checks. They were holding you like you were nothing more than a few grapes. "Yeah but then that defeats the purpose of you sleeping in the first place"
now you were at you room. Taash slid the door open with their foot, walked in, and laid you down on the couch that had been acting like your bed.
"hey im.. sorry that i woke you" They refused to meet your gaze "no its ok! i probably shouldn't have been sleeping on the ground anyway" "yeah.. next time you can't sleep just come to me, i can make you some tea... do you prefer lavender or ginger?" Taash finally looked at you, a small tinge of pink on their checks. You smiled "surprise me yeah?.. Thanks Taash"
the pink on their checks grew deeper "no problem" they smiled back at you before leaving your room. Leaving you to rest.
