Summary: Rafe meets a new girl after landing at the island
Warning: Story takes place after season 2 (after Rafe arrives at the island), substance (drug abuse), swearing
"Y'all the family that bought the island?" One of the boys, Landon (Rafe assume) said, handling him a can of beer. "Where y'all from?"
"Chapel Hill," Rafe lies, bringing the can closer to his lips. "Who's the host of the party?"
"Oh, she's around here, I think," the other guy says, and Rafe thinks about how he looks awfully close to JJ. "The richest person in the neighbourhood, brother, after your family, I guess."
"Hmm," he nods, slowly tapping his pointer to the beat of the music. "Well, if you guys need anything, you know where to find me."
"Sure thing, man," Landon smiles, bumping his fist with Rafe. Rafe grins and look around the crowd, happy that there are no familiar faces. He feels almost. . . at peace. There are nobody calling him a murderer, nobody trying to kill him and his family.
"Hey, boys," a higher voice said, getting closer to where Rafe is sitting. He doesn't bother to look up to whoever that is, not interested in knowing any girls.
"Hey, (Y/N)," Landon says, hugging her side. (Y/N) smiles and kisses his cheek, "What's the commotion? Why is everyone around here? Is my party getting boring?"
At the sound of 'my party', Rafe looks up to a pair of (E/C) eyes who looks just as shocked to see a new face. In truth, Rafe has never been to a party as big as this, and Obx always held the best parties ever. He was incredibly surprised when he found out the gender of the organiser.
"Hello," she says, looking down to where he is seating. She steps forward and extends her hand, "(Y/N)."
He shakes her hand, feeling the cold metal rings clinking with his as he wraps his hand around hers. "Rafe."
"Well, Rafe," she smiled, "I heard you're the son of the owner of this island."
"Hmm," he hums, not letting go of her hands, "You can say that."
She laughs and proceed to sit on the empty space beside him, not liking the way he's talking to her. (Y/N) is used to guys praising her, wanting to be with her just because of her money; so when she finally finds a guy who is equal to her, well, let's just say she's a bit taken aback.
"Say, Rafe," she continues, "Do you do snow?"
"Snow?" He asks, looking at her. The boys around them laugh, and Rafe feels annoyed. Why are they acting like he's stupid?
"Snow," she nods, and lean to whisper into his ear. "You know. Coke." She emphasises on the 'oke', sending shivers down to Rafe's spine.
Rafe laughs and fumble for his back pocket, searching for that one. . . tiny. . . "You mean this?" He asks, raising the transparent ziplock bag filled to the end with the intoxicating substance.
(Y/N) licks her teeth and grins. "Well, boys? Don't you think he's invited to the back room?"
Landon and the other guys hoots and nods at her, some already on their way to whatever the back room is. Intrigued, Rafe follows her to the back of the room he was in, breathing in her vanilla and cinnamon scent.
He arrives in the basement where the music isn't too slow or too loud, just perfect for whoever's in there to stay afloat. He takes a seat beside (Y/N) who is already pouring the "snow" on the table and grabbing her credit card.
She prepares them into lines as Rafe rolls up his hundred dollars bill, giving it to her when she looks at him. He watches as she dips her head to inhale the substance, throws her head back to get comfortable, and laughs when she return next to him.
She hands him the bill, "Your turn, handsome."
Rafe grins and walks to the other end of the table, dipping his head to her height. He places a finger on his left nostril, inhale, and looks up to her. She gives him a malicious smile.
A few other guys have their turns while (Y/N) and Rafe stares at each other, both hazy from their trip. She stands up to have a go again, and Rafe speaks up.
She laughs and dips her head once again, only to stare into his eyes as she inhale the powder. Rafe watches her intently and swears to not do anything he will regret the following day.
"You do this a lot?" He asks, when all the powder has been inhaled. (Y/N) turns to look at him, rubbing her nose.
"Occasionally," she replies. "You?"
Rafe raises his shoulder. (Y/N) laughs again and scoots closer.
"Be careful, handsome. Don't want you to become a cracker now, huh?"
Rafe leans back against the sofa as the music thrums against his eardrums, watching the girl unfolds another ziplock bag from the back of her skirt. He sits straighter, eager.
"Be careful," she says, unscrewing a mini spoon from her necklace. She takes a full spoon of the powder and places it under Rafe, who doesn't waste any time to inhale the substance and throwing his head back once again.
"You're a great girl," he says to her, when she's doing herself the favour. She snorts and look at him.
"You don't know what you're saying."
"What? You're not a great girl?" He asks, cocking his head to one side. She rolls her eyes, screwing the mini spoon back into her necklace, passing the ziplock bag to the other guys.
"Tell me, Rafe," she slurs, "What does your family do?"
Rafe stares at her. The memory of everything that happened to him since last year floods back into his mind, and he had to shake his head to refocus on the living.
"I don't know. Buildings."
"That's so cool," she says, lying. Rafe almost snort at her, but stops himself. "What do you do, princess?"
"In my senior year," she drawls, "How old are you?"
"19," he replies. "You're not answering my question, princess. What does your family do?"
She stops to look at him properly, "You know. Stuff. Electronics, I guess. I don't know. I don't care. It gives us this big house, though."
Rafe smiles and shrugs. So we're both keeping a secret.
"Well, as much as I enjoy talking to you," Rafe stands up, "I have to go and get my shit's going. Thanks for the snow. Tell me if you ever need me to repay you."
"It's all from the heart, handsome," she replies, laying her head on his previous seat. She can still smell his scent from the position. "No need to repay me."
Rafe raises his hand up as a sign to say goodbye and makes his way out. When he catches a taxi back to the far end of the island where his new home stood, he finds himself thinking hard.
If she refuses to tell her story to him, he can do the same.
Two can play this game at the same time, princess.
