Things my kids have done that made me smile this year:

S rummaged through his dad’s truck to find a present for teacher 1 and I to share.

S, bending down to pick up a pencil he dropped: *groans*

Me: you’re too you g to be groaning like that

S: nah I’m old

Me: if you’re old what am I?

S: reallyyyyyyy old. And teacher 1 is ancient.

K and I race up the ramp every morning when he’s in a good mood. He laughs the entire way.

He then runs away from me as soon as I unlock the door bc he knows I’m about to yank his hood off

Once again, he laughs the entire way to the classroom and once I get in there with him, he takes it off

Me: what’s the magic word?

K: please

Me: ok but what’s the magic phrase?

K: pretty please?

Me: it’s Ms. Jessica is the best teacher

K, smiling and giggling: Ms. Jessica is the best and my most favorite teacher

K laughing the entire way back from breakfast

Painting pumpkins with the kids

K telling me it’s a no hug day, but turning around and running back to me before he gets on the bus just to give me a hug

if i was sixteen, i would have gone to the store by now, bought a tiger beat magazine, and hung up a poster of Julie and the Phantoms on my ceiling because my wall was too full of jonas brothers posters and i accept that this is just who i am as a human and i’ll never outgrow the fangirl.

While she didn’t go buy a tiger beat magazine and hang a poster on her actual ceiling, she did hang figurative posters of Charlie, Owen, and Jeremy on the walls of her heart.
