got meme [three/four quotes]: “Courtesy is a lady’s armor.”
One thing that always bothers me in the fandom when I see people defending Sanaa’s skills is them saying that her sewing could translate into giving people stitches….as if CLOTHING wasn’t useful enough. Especially in the NORTH where it’s FREEZING. Like even in universe anyone saying that sewings useless is completely stupid especially as there’s a not zero chance they were wearing clothes when they said it
My favorite is when people call her stupid for liking stories. How the fuck do you even know who Sansa is if you don’t like stories.? Last time I checked she only exists in a story.

Game of Thrones actors at their characters’ book ages
So a lot of people have commented recently on how finding age-appropriate fancasts for ASOIAF characters really emphasizes how young everybody is in the books. While it’s fun to compare show actors to fancasts, I thought it would also be interesting to compile some photos of the show actors at the ages their characters are supposed to be. This is a very incomplete list; I mostly picked actors for whom I could find appropriate photos.
Events in ASOIAF begin in 298 AC (the prologue is probably in 297 AC), so listed ages are from that year. All birthdates are taken from the ASOIAF wiki.
The differences are most notable in characters who are teenagers in the books, almost all of whom were turned into young adults:
ROBB STARK - BORN 283 AC, AGE 14/15
Richard Madden (born 1986) at age 14 in his first film Complicity (2000), and at age 24 filming Season 1 of GoT.
JON SNOW - BORN 283 AC, AGE 14/15
Kit Harington (born 1986) at age 13, and at age 24 filming Season 1 of GoT.
DAENERYS TARGARYEN - BORN 284 AC, AGE 13/14
Emilia Clarke (born 1986) at age 12/13 in 1999, and at age 24 filming Season 1 of GoT.
YGRITTE - BORN 280 AC, AGE 17/18
Rose Leslie (born 1987) at age 20 (2-3 years older than Ygritte) filming Locked Up Abroad (2008), and at age 24 filming Season 2 of GoT.
GILLY - BORN 282-284 AC, AGE 13-16
Hannah Murray (born 1989) at age 17 filming Season 1 of Skins (2007), and at age 22 filming Season 2 of GoT.
But it’s not just the teenagers. With them aged up to their early 20s, the adults of the series were aged up as well, to avoid making us believe a bunch of 35-year-olds were parents to a bunch of 25-year-olds.
NED STARK - BORN 263 AC, AGE 34/35
Sean Bean (born 1959) at age 34-37 filming the Sharpe’s series (1993-1997), and at age 51 filming Season 1 of GoT.
CATELYN STARK - BORN 264 OR 265 AC, AGE 32-34
Michelle Fairley (born 1965) at age 34 filming Births, Marriages and Deaths (1999), and at age 45 filming Season 1 of GoT.
TYRION LANNISTER - BORN 273 AC, AGE 24/25
Peter Dinklage (born 1969) at age 25 filming Living in Oblivion (1995) and at age 41 filming Season 1 of GoT.
Even the characters who were intentionally aged up in the show, whether due to the abandoned time jump or just to tell a different story, are worth looking at.
SANSA STARK - BORN 286 AC, AGE 11
Sophie Turner (born 1996) at age 11 (exact date of this photo unconfirmed), and at age 14 filming Season 1 of GoT.
MISSANDEI - BORN 288 OR 289 AC, AGE 9-11
Nathalie Emmanuel (born 1989) at age 10 in The Lion King (1999), and at age 23 filming Season 3 of GoT.
Anyway, I just think it’s interesting to look at the differences and to think about how and when the story changes with older actors. Some of the teenagers certainly seem less rash or naive when depicted as, well, teenagers.
If there are others you’d like me to add, let me know and I’ll see if I can hunt down photos.
Do you ever think about how in the show Arya defeated the night king and saved whole westeros and all she gets is...a toast?

according to book and show fans
sansa not rescuing rickon because she knew ramsay would kill him the moment they attempted: evil, sick, power hungry, heartless
robb not exchanging sansa for jaime because jaime was valuable prisoner and the war could go badly and sansa was married off to a lannister: smart, commendable, made hard choices
Remember that time when Joffrey was starving the people of KL and, cause he was such a shitty ruler, he didn’t care or bother to fix that problem he caused so his own subjects rioted against him? I expect the same reaction from the common people since the Mad Dragon just destroyed the all the fucking food people had stocked and stored for winter and they likely won’t survive without it. To quote Tyrion, “They’re starving, you fool! All because of a war you started!”
“The Queen we chose”
Ye, she’s not the queen you chose when she is a queen you have to choose or die in refusing her
Join me or die is not how choice works.
So what if the slaves of Essos choose her? So freaking what?
That doesn’t justify everyone in Westeros getting their choice taken away.
The thing is, the slaves really DIDN’T choose her. The Unsullied and Missandei were bought by her, and she didn’t really give them any options other than the life they’ve always known: that of a soldier blindly following orders, or in Missandei’s case the work of serving girl.
The people of Meereen didn’t REALLY choose her either. We see them being grateful to her, sure, but we never see them CHOOSING to make her queen. She just assumes the position.
Like, it’s easy to say the people in Essos “chose” Daenerys when they were never given any alternatives.
Remember that time on the show when Robb Stark and his Northern bannermen pulled up to the Twins and mulled over how they were going to get across?
Remember how, despite Ned Stark still being alive at this point, Robb Stark not yet declaring the North’s independence, and House Tully being overlords to House Frey, this was still considered a highly dangerous situation?
Remember everyone losing their shit at the prospect of Robb Stark going to meet with Walder Frey?
Remember everyone losing their shit at Catelyn Stark (Tully) volunteering to meet with him, despite being a woman and from the family House Frey serves?
Remember how in the books one of Walder Frey’s sons was left with the Northern army to ensure Catelyn’s safe return?
Remember while trying to reach an agreement, Catelyn Stark was not remotely subtle when reminding Walder Frey that 20,000 soldiers stood right outside his walls?
Remember how Frey’s terms were brought back to Robb and his aides to consider? Remember how the price of alliance was heavy for both sides?
Remember how this whole situation was pulled from the books?
Remember how all of this is standard? Remember how all of this is common sense?
Because obviously when you parley with a potential enemy in an attempt to reach any sort of pact, you almost always do so in a neutral place, with your entire retinue present, and an army at your back, because otherwise it’s a suicide mission?
Or you send a neutral party and/or messenger to present your terms.
Pretty level-headed stuff.
Now remember this absolute nonsense?
Yeah Becky, tell me more about how King Jon Snow is going to ride his little tug boat 1500 miles away from his lands and armies right into enemy territory, completely unprotected, while he’s in open rebellion against the crown.
Tell me how this will totally happen in the middle of a war, while she’s attempting a violent seizure of power, their houses are sworn enemies, he’s never met her before, and everyone knows she’ll force his kingdom’s fealty.
Tell me how these conferences between opposing sides won’t involve heavy negotiation, the presence and counsel from all advisors, and general harmony and consensus from the Lords that serve them.
Tell me how in the books Jon and Daenerys will totally have a private stroll along the cliffs, explore the caves, and then he’ll just abdicate for no reason while never consulting with anyone.
Tell me how that wouldn’t immediately be treated as treason.
Tell me how that wasn’t the dumbest shit you’ve ever seen in your life, completely void of any logic and reason.
Tell me how you’re not living in Disney Land.
And then while you’re at it, tell me again how Sansa Stark was completely out of line for opposing his island getaway, and undermining him.
Tell me what a selfless hero Jon Snow is, instead of an absolute fucking moron.
God this show is so stupid.
Also their take that "Dany is threatening to men but Sansa isn't" is a total BS. One of the reasons why fandom hated Sansa for years is bc she didn't kneel for Tyrion & rejected him. If she had allowed him to rape her, they'd have said she is good now that she's humbled. D's story is very flattering to men's egos. Men don't see themselves as Kraznys, Xaro or Hizdahr; they see themselves as Daario, Drogo and Jon. Also dragons is every male fantasy fan's fav, otoh Sansa's story is boring to them.
you've said it perfectly
Jonsa Lion King AU ¼
Jon as Simba, Sansa as Nala, Robb as Mufasa and Dany as Scar
I don’t know who exactly needs to hear this, but Daario “Fuck Meereen, fuck the people” Naharis definitely didn’t keep the peace in Meereen after Dany left.
Sansa Stark Appreciation Week 2020: Day Five - Sansa Snark's sassiest moments
I don't know if this technically counts as a 'sassy moment', but its definitely one of my favourite sansa moments.
The most relatible thing so far in GoT is Gendry quiting his job mid shift to essentially go kill himself, because same
Sansa smelling the bullshit is my favourite Game of Thrones retread.
Because you brought it up, though I agree D&D handled the Sansa-Arya feud horribly later on, I don't think it started off as bad. The first few beats of the storyline are generally consistent (IMO) with how Sansa and Arya, who had very different journeys and have a predisposition to distrust the other, would act around each other. The roots of the conflict were handled well (by D&D standards), to me it's the escalation (Arya threats) and resolution ("surprise trial!") that were appalling.
I think it was really poorly done. Initial distrust I understand but that just went off the rails. And we were completely robbed of their reconciliation. These two spent the most onscreen time together out of the surviving Starks before their family was torn apart and there’s very little payoff. We had to endure Sansa apologizing to Jon for absolutely nothing but we don’t get the same for these two who were in constant conflict. We don’t even get to see them plotting against Littlefinger because the surprise trial was more important to D&D than establishing believable bonds. I don’t want a plot twist if it sacrifices character growth.
