I thought I’d give it a couple of days. The past week has been surreal. We’ve always said that we play like it’s the last show we’ll ever play and this has literally been the case.

I want to thank everyone who’s ever given a fuck about The Blackout. You all allowed us to live our dream, even if we didn’t get to our ultimate goal of being the first band to play on the moon. I can’t be more proud of what we have achieved. And when I say we I mean The Blackout and you guys. It’s you who listened to records, came to shows and supported us through it all. Without you we’d be six men in an empty room. We’d have a laugh but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as much fun.

So, thank you all so much. Gavx

A message from Lisa, who co-runs Farewell TBO:

Hi I’m Lisa…you may know me from twitter @HeresLisa or off of The Blackout shows! Together with my friend Josh @_MackJosh we’re doing a thing! Here’s the gist… We know a number of other people are doing things for The Blackout’s last tour, like giving the guys gifts and scrapbooks etc. Without undermining other people’s efforts we’d like to do something too. We decided a long time ago that we’d like to give each of the guys a book of memories. Mainly photos, words, whatever you want really.We have 6 books, and we hope that each person that contributes can make a personal message in each. That way if you have a ton of memories to share you can put different things in each book and tailor them to the person. Plus they all have one each this way. We plan to take the books to each show on tour and ask people to contribute before the shows. We’ll probably set up shop near the queue in a pub or coffee shop or even the nearest Travelodge! We have pens and glue and stickers and random stuff to help prettify the pages to. You’ll just need to bring with you printed copies of any photos you’d like to include. We’re also asking if anyone would like to contribute in advance. Feel free to tweet us if you’d like to be involved. The books have 50 blank white pages (100 sides) and are roughly 10 square inches if that helps with thinking about what you’d like to write, draw or which photos you’d like to stick in! We hope to hear from you xo

CALLING ALL TBO FANS, I NEED YOUR HELP

I’ve only now managed to read through the amazing comments that you have been sending us. I’m honored and humbled that The Blackout had even the slightest impact in your lives. From day one it’s you guys who have kept us going, you’ve picked us up when we were down, partied with us when we were up and put your money where our mouths were on two separate occasions.

Our fans are a special breed, they look after one another and build friendships that become as tight as family. Fans are ultimately what make a band and because of that, The Blackout is a joy to be in.

Sadly, we’ve come to a place where we need to and want to move on to the next chapter. The Blackout has taken up a 3rd of my life, before the band was bad haircuts (*worse haircuts), spots, school, riding bikes and shitting myself. Needless to say taking the next step is excitingly scary.

But it’s not over yet, not by a long shot. There’s the small matter of throwing five wakes for The Blackout. We invite you all to come dance, sing and sweat with us to celebrate all that you’ve allowed us to achieve. We thought it only apt that we end where we began and we’re going to make the Merthyr show something special, something to remember.

So again, thank you all for your support over the years. You’ve allowed me to live my dreams and for that I’ll be eternally grateful.
