So, this was the first thing i made for the college course that both me and Liam are on. we had to make a documentary about something we know a bit about or ...
Okay, I recently announced on my Facebook page that my girlfriend (just-childish-things) was officially joining SPP. This means that alongside my content she will also be uploading her own content. To start with, Her documentary on two of her musical inspirations. Sean Smith, vocalist of The Blackout and Chris ‘Stixx’ Davies, drummer for the Guns.
Be sure to check it out guys.
Here's a new interview with Sean from before The Blackout announced they were splitting up, if you're still sad about them being over maybe skip the ending and avoid crying like we did x
The Blackout! Sound Control! 4th Nov!
When We Were Wolves sound like so many other bands in their genre and don’t do enough to stand out from the crowd. Which is a shame because they’re obviously talented and have a passion for their craft. Unfortunately they don’t seem to be winning over the crowd all that much, with only a handful of people engaged with them and the majority looking a little less than excited.
Yashin however don’t have this problem and are winning the crowd over with their brand of dance-along rock. With dual vocals that captivate everyone. The bassist not only provides pounding beats but sweet backing vocals too. They have a small group of die-hard fans down the front that are seemingly in awe.
Having seen these guys a few times before, and having just released their EP ‘Wolves, I (along with everyone else packing into the rom) am expecting big things from The Blackout. And I am not disappointed. They start off strong, kicking off with title track ‘Wolves’, and don’t falter – even with singer, Sean Smith, stating that his voice isn’t sounding too good. I’ve seen a lot of bands try, and often fail, having natural banter with the crowd but The Blackout really make an art form of it. When a band can insult the crowd, their hometown and anything else they deem fit for ridicule, and still get them cheering for more….that’s an amazing feat. The dual vocals of Smith and fellow frontman, Gavin Butler, are a force to be reckoned with. Going from harmoniously in synch to a growling battle within the timespan of a single track. These guys are two of the most enigmatic frontmen I’ve had the pleasure of watching. The set flows seamlessly between old and new songs, with the crowd being swept away with the energy. Smith takes to the stage as if it’s his own personal jungle gym, climbing on everything he can and generally running riot. When they play crowd favourite SOS (The Warning), fans, including this very journalist, all find them kneeling before the band (an old trick that they’ve still not got bored with yet). Even after they’ve finished their set, the crowed want more. And with a band like The Blackout, that ‘more’ comes in the form of them spending time outside the venue with the fans, talking and signing and bringing about a sense of friendship that lacks with so many bands of their size. It’s not until everyone has gone away smiling, that the band finally make their way to their van. Tonight, The Blackout were truly the best in town.
Now that we’ve all had a few days to come to terms with the end of The Blackout, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us out. If you messaged us with spare tickets or offers of friendship and places to stay for other fans, contributed to the memory books or even just spread the word about our blog, we’re really grateful for your help. Hopefully we managed to get tickets to everyone who was looking for them.
Our work here is more or less done, but we’ll keep you all up to date with the progress of the This Is Where The Story Ends DVD and anything else that might come along in the future. In the meantime, if you have any photos from the last tour or stories about The Blackout that you’d like to share we’d love to hear them, so feel free to send them to our ask or submit boxes, or tag us in your posts!

A message from Lisa, who co-runs Farewell TBO:
Hi I’m Lisa…you may know me from twitter @HeresLisa or off of The Blackout shows! Together with my friend Josh @_MackJosh we’re doing a thing! Here’s the gist… We know a number of other people are doing things for The Blackout’s last tour, like giving the guys gifts and scrapbooks etc. Without undermining other people’s efforts we’d like to do something too. We decided a long time ago that we’d like to give each of the guys a book of memories. Mainly photos, words, whatever you want really. We have 6 books, and we hope that each person that contributes can make a personal message in each. That way if you have a ton of memories to share you can put different things in each book and tailor them to the person. Plus they all have one each this way. We plan to take the books to each show on tour and ask people to contribute before the shows. We’ll probably set up shop near the queue in a pub or coffee shop or even the nearest Travelodge! We have pens and glue and stickers and random stuff to help prettify the pages to. You’ll just need to bring with you printed copies of any photos you’d like to include. We’re also asking if anyone would like to contribute in advance. Feel free to tweet us if you’d like to be involved. The books have 50 blank white pages (100 sides) and are roughly 10 square inches if that helps with thinking about what you’d like to write, draw or which photos you’d like to stick in! We hope to hear from you xo
If you'd like more information about the project, tweet Lisa, Josh or our Twitter page @farewelltbo. If you'd like to send anything in before tour starts, you can submit pictures and stories here or if you'd prefer to email us get in touch and we'll give you an address to send them to!
