Yesterday someone stabbed people at random in the middle of my town's market place. My heart is breaking into a million pieces. But I have to ask myself: How can I make the world a better place after something like this? Certainly not by being afraid or by choosing to hate. But instead by spreading love, compassion and kindness. It is simple: Everyone living on this planet wants to avoid suffering and to be happy. I made yet another account, this time to document everything I learn on our journey to becoming more self-sustainable! 🙌🌲 @Regrann from @mothernaturehasitall - Today is the first day of the rest of my life, and I decided to start a project. On this account I will be collecting stuff I learn on my journey to becoming more close to Mother Nature. I'm currently living in a city, but as soon as I finish my studies there, you will find me in a Norwegian forest with my cat and my partner. We are hoping to become more self-sustainable, and to live somewhat off-grid. Being a part of the rat race is not for us anymore, and that's why our dream is to move back to our roots and to learn how to live our own way. Today we made our first trip foraging this summer. Old drawing. I haven't posted anything in a while now. I'm struggling with depression, and I'm actually on sick leave. It was a very hard decision to make, going on sick leave, but I didn't really have much of a choice at the end of the day, since I'm not functioning the way society expects me to right now. I wish I could've pushed through and finish the classes I had left, I wish I didn't feel like I'm being crushed under a cliff when I hear the word deadline. I mean, it's pretty impossible studying without having deadlines, so the feeling of being crushed is constant. I need a break. The only thing I want right now, the only thing I crave, is moving off-grid into the woods, erase my place in this beautiful but stressful city and find my peace among the trees, grow my own food, care for myself and actually have energy to care fore my loved ones, too. I miss me. It's scary talking about this. I've never had a hard time talking about feeling shitty before, but all of the sudden I have this label. I am depressed. Fuck. But now more than ever I think it's so important to talk about this, and I've got so much to say. I'm not sure if any of this makes sense. All I know is that this is some kind of beginning, not an end. And I know I'm not alone. That's actually even more heartbreaking, knowing how many people are struggling with mental health issues. @ellagracedenton said a few months ago something like this: "The world is sick, it's no wonder we are sick, too." I'm sad that I don't have any energy to create as much as I would like to right now. I'm cherishing every tiny moment of creativity in my life, hoping I'll feel better again soon. As you might have noticed, I haven't been drawing that much lately. I've been feeling very down for quite a while, which has forced me to abandon my draw-every-day-policy. I'm sad that that's what I have to do now; I'd rather choose away my studies instead of my creativity if I have to pick one. But that's just the way it is right now, and that's okay. I've still managed to establish such a strong force of creativity in me that will never fade away. I'm constantly craving to create something despite feeling low; bake some bread, or plant some new seeds and plants as I did today and as I also painted today. Siri found it extremely exciting watching me plant and got stuck with her paw in my sweater about a hundred times. ANYWAY, rant over. A self portrait. One of the most valuable lessons I've learned during these past months of creativity, is that self portraits, or anything really, DOES NOT NEED TO RESEMBLE what it is inspired by, it does not need to "look like a photo". This realization has helped me tremendously in daring to be creative and express myself. I will always admire artists who can "replicate" something they see with pen and paper (I mean, come on, that shit is nothing but amazing!), but I'm finally coming to terms that I will never be that artist. CAT SHAPES TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY 🐱 is now available on my @redbubble page (same username as here, link in bio ✨). I finally got the dress I ordered with my cat pattern, and I'm so excited! It's a different material than I expected, but I love it so much I'm not sure how I'll ever want to take it off. On the right I'm holding the original painting; it's amazing to see how a piece of art can manifest in so many forms. I'm thrilled to finally be able to share my work with you guys, and that you can enjoy my art in other forms than only some tiny pictures here on instagram. Now you can wear my art, too, or drink out of it, and even carry stuff with it. How amazeballs is that!? I hope that I'll be able to produce a lot of these products on my own in the future. Even though Redbubble is an awesome and trustworthy site, it's still a third party. I think it'll be a great way to start selling art, but it's not the best way to actually make money, and you lose the valuable connection between the artist and the customer.
