Hey remember what I said last night about how the failing shields are Reed’s Uncle Ben Moment? How it’s important that he fucked up his friends’ lives, and how that guilt defines literally every aspect of him?

U ever think about how Reed believes so strongly in helping others that Ben just knew, the literal moment they got superpowers, that he was going to try and use them to benefit the world.

Also it should be noted that if I ever refer to Reed ‘keeping secrets’, I’m specifically talking about, say, not letting Ben learn that he’s working on a new formula to fix his mutation in case it doesn’t work out, because that would only lead to Ben being sad and disappointed.

I’m not referring to the bloody I.lluminati nonsense, because I hate all that crap.

The thing people keep saying about Reed -- both fans and Haters(tm) -- is that he has bucketloads of is arrogance, and it’s truly hilarious because he is the least arrogant person on the planet.

He was arrogant, once. And that arrogance mutated himself and his friends into inhuman beings, with his oldest and most trusted friend being punished beyond belief. He works as hard as he does because he never wants to let anyone down again. He doesn’t care if other people dislike him, so long as he never again causes harm.

Just as Spider-Man has his ‘Uncle Ben Moment’, Reed has the rocket. Any arrogance he may have had got burned away under those cosmic rays.
