Imagine a Whumper who completely isolates their Whumpee for years. They are the Whumpee’s world, their torturer and provider. Whumpee ends up forgetting what it’s like to talk to others, forgets their old friends and family’s faces. It makes their eventual rescue by the Caretaker shocking. It’s been so long since they’ve seen/heard another person that they don’t know how to handle it.

amnesia as a trauma response has the potential to be so fucking funny because imagine you just spent like 6 months breaking Whumpee down piece by piece, stripping them of their rights, destroying their mind and body with scars that will never heal, relishing in the irrevocable damage done by your hand even after they've been rescued

and then you run into them at a grocery store and they're like "oh hey (: sorry didn't see you there ((((: no i have no idea who you are but you're blocking the shelf i need to look at"

my ass would be humbled so goddamn fast. i would be shinji gripping the sink sobbing in the mirror because Whumpee basically just called me cringe. my brilliant torturing apparently meant fuckall and i'm not even worth the time of day. they'd probably misspell my name on a starbucks cup. whumper turned whumpee because how do i recover from that. what the fuck.

Imagine a Whumpee being protective over their Caretaker. They’ve been tortured by Whumper for so long that they expect everyone to have malice, yet Caretaker is so kind and gentle towards them. Whumpee worries about someone taking advantage of Caretaker, and can snap at anyone who talks to or looks at the Caretaker wrong in their eyes.

A Whumpee who sacrifices themself to the future Whumper, expecting just to be killed. Imagine the shock and betrayal when they realize it will be much worse. Maybe the Whumper mocks them for it "you gave yourself up so willingly to me, now you beg me to leave you alone? No dear, you have already made your choice."

Imagine a Whumpee who uses some sort of metal weapon. After getting captured, the Whumper melts it down into a collar and chains

Something I love about immortal Whumpees is how long they can be tortured for. Hundreds, thousands of years of pain. When the Caretaker finds them, what will be left of them? Just a shadow of the person they once were. If the Caretaker is mortal, maybe piecing them back together isn’t even something they can do in their lifetime.

A Caretaker who is not a good person. One who has killed, or who even has experience with torture themself. But yet when they see the Whumpee, their only instinct is to protect them. If anyone even looks at Whumpee wrong, Caretaker will make sure they regret it. And the only hope the Whumper has is that the Caretaker will accidentally kill them quickly.
