Interview with Camryn
Camryn is a 14 year old singer from Denver, Colorado who is living every fangirl’s dream. Having toured with artists such as Cody Simpson, Greyson Chance and Drake Bell, after begging for tickets to see the newly formed One Direction, Camryn then had the opportunity to become their opening act for the Up All Night North American tour. Since then, she was asked back to tour with the boys on their European leg of the Take Me Home stadium tour for 63 dates. Camryn was recently #1 Most Added Independent Artist at Top 40 Radio and her recent single, Lovesick, even beat out Miley Cyrus and Ke$ha for song adds at radio stations!
We caught up with Camryn to talk to her about all things fangirl.
Hey Camryn, welcome to Fanyell! You’ve recently released your new single, Lovesick. What can you tell us about that?
Well, Lovesick is the story about a girl who falls for a boy, but then realizes she was just a game to him. And when he wants her back, it’s just a little too late for that.
When will you be releasing your first album?
No news yet on the next album. Right now I have 4 songs that I’m narrowing down to choose my next single, so there will definitely be some new music soon.
You have your own fandom, Camrynators. How would you describe them?
My fans are awesome. They are very loyal and friendly. I honestly couldn’t have wished for a better group of people to be in my fan base, and a lot of them have actually become close friends of mine.
We know you have a fandom, but what fandoms are you part of?
Well I am definitely a Directioner. I love those boys and because of all the amazing experiences they invited me to be a part of, I can never turn back from the fandom now!
When was the last time that you fangirled over something big time?
Oh, that’s a hard one. Lately I’ve been fangirling over a lot of the Vine kids. Logan Paul and Nash Grier are by far my favorite.
Who have you ever been star struck meeting?
Actually, the first time I met the 1D boys I pretty much froze up. I didn’t know what to say or do, so I tried to play it really cool.
As a singer, you have to try and be professional meeting people- how do you hide any awkwardness or your inner fangirl?
It is definitely hard. And the whole time I’m talking to someone famous I’m just like “Don’t freak out. Don’t freak out. Keep Calm.” And then end up saying something awkward out loud.
Call, text and block: Niall Horan, Michael Clifford and your best friend – who would you pick?
Oh, that’s a tough one. I’d definitely call or FaceTime Niall. Text Michael Clifford. And right now my best friend and I have been on the rocks a bit, so I think I’d have to block her.
If you were to hold an A-List party- who would definitely get an invite?
Aside from the 1D boys, I’d probably invite all my favorite YouTubers and Viners. Definitely the O2L boys, Nash Grier, Jenna Marbles, Cameron Dallas and Tyler Oakley. But if it’s a major celeb, I’ll go with Beyonce anyday.
If you had an unlimited budget to hold an event for your fans- what would the event be and why?
Oh, that’s a tough one. I think I’d want to go to Tivoli in Denmark. Fly in some of my fans – maybe a competition like 2 from each country. And just shut down the park and ride rides with them, perform – but like a jam session where we all hang out and have fun together. And definitely go eat at the Hard Rock Cafe next door after.
What ‘Fangirl’ lingo do you know?
So I know the word “ship” but I don’t quite understand it.
Finally, what message would you like to give to the new readers of Fanyell?
