Wine Name: Chateau Bois Redon Wine Type: Bordeaux Superieur Country/Region: France Year: 2013 Date Purchased/Received: August 9, 2015 Date Opened: August 17, 2015 Source: Total Wine and More, Olympia, WA Price (without tax): $9.99 Review: This was definitely a much drier wine than I like, and not one that you would want to sit and drink by itself. It absolutely needs to be served with a complementary meal to be enjoyed. It also is a very good cooking wine, especially for the price. Upon opening there was very little scent to the wine. The color is a dark and dull cherry, definitely not bright and cheerful. This wine looks like it takes itself very seriously in the glass. I would expect my college professors from an unspecified number of years ago to sit around drinking this while discussing the dismal state of the world, and how youth is wasted on the young. While it's not a wine I could enjoy by itself, it tasted great with the roast beef my best friend cooked for dinner. The gravy she made to go with the potatoes benefited from roughly one third of the bottle, and it tasted delicious. Would I buy it again? Yes, but only when I want to add a deeper flavor to something I am cooking, or to serve with some kind of roast beef or lamb dinner. Or if I happened to invite some scholar into my home, and wanted to make sure the conversation didn't venture anywhere near a topic that would make anyone laugh hard enough to make their drink spurt out their nose.
