i feel like i might have talked about this before but i just saw this vid again and i need. to talk. about this. what is personal space???
because i am so fucking obsessed with this. i adore this entire video but this is my favourite moment in the whole thing because….what is this.
for one thing it’s just so soft and adorable and they’re having such a good time. but why is brian touching freddie’s chest and back? like full on walks his fingers right across his whole like collar bone/clavicle bit with one hand while the other is on his shoulder and goes back onto his back???
so casually. that is what kills me is how casual it is!! freddie doesn’t even BLINK he carries on like this is nothing, he’s used to this, still leans in to sing without batting an eyelid. it’s just so not unusual for brian’s hands to be on him that he literally doesn’t even falter for a second.
if my friend reached over and ran their fingers over that part of my torso with a hand on my shoulder as well i’d be like,,,,uh?? but this is just normal for them.
and then when freddie realises brian missed the cue he grabs him as well and it’s again just so normal and GOD THE FULL BODY LAUGHS i love this so much i will never get tired of staring at this moment. when brian realises he messed up it’s freddie he turns to to laugh about it as well it’s such a moment between the two of them even though they’re all right there.
brian casually leaning on him here as well:
they just have NO concept of each others’ personal space AT ALL which you can see in SO many clips but i have these gifs right on my laptop anyway so i’m using these like why are they sharing a mic here there is absolutely no need, they’re in a studio, there are plenty, in fact you’re probably getting in each others’ way especially as brian needs to strum with that arm but move apart???? absolutely not
ridiculous, the pair of them
SCREEEEEEEEAAAM
Brian (and Roger) on when he started playing with himself
Roger is a CHILD
forever reblog because it sums up their 50-year relationship in a nutshell
Always reblog Roger being a child…
You’re My Best Friend ~ Queen
Decided to update something I did a while ago
Smash Hits (January 24 - February 6, 1980)
The Boomtown Rats - Someone’s Looking At You (lyrics)
Deaky at some point between 1971 and 1991 while holding his bass:
If I could sing, it would be over for you bitches
I love Queen because half of their songs are mind-blowing pieces about life and death and love and humanity’s inability to live together without destroying ourselves, and the other half are like “I love my bike”
actually there’s a third kind and it’s called “I’m Freddie Mercury And There’s Nothing You Can Do To Stop Me”
Proof that Queen has done literally every genre under the sun:
Queen are known as a rock and roll band to most people, but they’re actually extremely versatile and have dabbled in just about everything.
I obviously didn’t include all their songs, but I have put more than one in some genres if I think both are significant or worth mentioning.
Ambiance - track 13 - a mysterious 22 minute hidden track found at the very end of the last ever Queen album
Arena rock - we will rock you
Ballad - love of my life
- Nevermore - this is so sickly sweet and pretty my teeth rotted
Blues - sleeping on the sidewalk - sung by Brian in an American accent
- My melancholy blues - for a completely different kind of blues
Dance/AOR (adult oriented rock) - You don’t fool me - I cannot stress both how UNDERRATED yet also how bizarrely un-Queen-like this catchy song is. Even the music video looks more like it’s from some grunge 00’s indie band. Seriously, why has no one ever heard of this song?! (Flashing lights warning for the music video)
Disco - back chat
- dancer
Dixie Jazz - bring back that Leroy Brown - Queen and ukulele are not two words I would ever think could be in the same sentence, but here we are I guess
- good company
Flamenco - Inuuendo (middle part) - actually I could put this song under multiple genres, it’s basically a sequel to Bohemian Rhapsody with all its different sections
Folk - ’39
Funk - fun it
Glam Rock - Killer Queen
Gospel - let me live - dear god why didn’t they share lead vocals like this more often
- somebody to love
Heavy Metal - death on two legs
- flick of the wrist
Jazz - dreamer’s ball
Latin - who needs you - sometimes I need to just take a minute to sit down and process that Queen, the very same people who made we will rock you, also did this
New Wave - calling all girls
Opera - Bohemian Rhapsody (middle section)
- Exercises in free love - this is actually from Freddie’s solo album, but it’s too incredible not to share. It’s just straight up opera.
Punk - sheer heart attack -I included a live version because the performance just adds twice the punk
Power pop - coming soon
Prog Rock - liar
Protest Song - white man - this is a metal song about how white people are assholes to Native Americans and it fucking SLAPS
- put out the fire - a protest song about America’s gun laws and attitudes to guns. Kinda creepy how relevant it is today
Rap (ish) - another one bites the dust
(Also special mention to the fact that Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson were actually half way through recording a rap and the only reason it was never finished is because Freddie got fed up with Michael because he kept bringing his pet alpaca into the studio)
Rockabilly - crazy little thing called love
Soul - pain is so close to pleasure
Soundtrack - flash
Synth, the movie - a dozen red roses for my darling - this song is CURSED. My ipad refused to play it and when it did it did it broke my earphones. You can’t even find it on the Queen YouTube channel???
Techno Pop - Radio Ga Ga
The god damn fucking national anthem - god save the queen
Thrash Metal, before thrash metal even existed - stone cold crazy
- ogre battle
Waltz - the millionare waltz
Genreless songs:
Cool cat (reggae/funk?)
Jesus (psychedelic rock/religious rock??)
Seaside Rendezvous - (20s seaside ditty maybe??) - This has KAZOOS in it I’m fucking speechless
Mustapha (Arabic/ethnic rock??) - sung in a mixture of Arabic, English, and Parsi.
The Fairy Fellers Master-Stroke - (fantasy metal-opera maybe?)
The prophet’s song - I honestly don’t even know where to start with this one. It’s some cursed shit of 8.5 minutes of Freddie chanting and whispering vaguely religious gobbledygook into your ears that came to Brian in a dream when he was ill in hospital and probably hallucinating on his painkillers.
Feel free to add more that I’ve missed! I’m not an expert on music so I apologise if I made any mistakes.
I want to add a few
My Baby Does Me-soul/slow funk. This song is so sexy and so underrated
Who Wants to Live Forever- ballad. Also the song is sad on its own but watch Highlander for the full sad experience
Hijack My Heart- 90’s rock. This was the B side to The Invisible Man and it’s probably my favorite song that Roger sang
Stealin’- soul. This was the B side to Breakthru and it’s so groovy and underrated
In Only Seven Days- blues (I think). Probably one of my favorite Deacy songs and it’s so bittersweet
The rawest picture of Queen I ever seen.
ROOOCCKK
Deaky’s “evolution” 😏💕
(Original idea from @sweetiediqi‘s tweet)
“Okay, go stand in the doorway and look kinda mad, but in a sexy way.”
