nov 11 report

Things are looking quite wintery out there…

We are waiting for a little bit more snow to start grooming.

The machines don't like to hit rocks!  Also I don't like fixing machines that do..  

Things are shaping up to be a winter-ish winter!! So the grooming machines might get a work out this season.

We are currently tweaking a few things on the machines to make them extra tough with some additions and experiments to make grooming better.  

In the meantime if you are out and about on the common trails that we usually groom give them a little extra stomp, snow shoe/ ski for fat bike, to help pack and widen the trail. Even drag your kids on the toboggan. more Acton on the trails will make them fun!!

Grooming Report March 13

Fresh HOT POW! new snow and warmer temps made for solid trail packing snow.  Scott had some time on his hands and got to work on a big grooming lap this evening and groomed.

Grooming Report March 8th

Well I ( Rory)  finely got my hands on the groomer for a little tune up lap. Techno Grind was looking a little chewed up so I did 2 laps back and forth there, 1x on Monty Christo road  1/2 eddy j  1x Moes  also experimented with some old fun stuff but you will need to see what that is…..its probably to soft to use but maybe.

March 3rd grooming Report

While most of you were at the ski hill Tyler Mcbride was hard at work making single track fun...

Words from the big man himself...

I Just did a double lap of everything. I could use a beer…or 5. Sugary light snow not packing great, will need many more grooms before rideable. 

2x blue elephant

2x Eddie j

2x techno

2x KC

2x MC road

2x drifter

So it will need a few more grooming laps to make it prestine as the fresh snow is deep.

If folks did some Snow shoe laps on ther fave trail that would help pack things down also..

Holey Toledo Snow!! that escalated quickly !

So the boys did a little groom yesterday but it didn't make a dent in the hardpack then it started dumping snow!! 

But today Tyler did a bit of utility/ maintenance lap getting layers down.

Grooming Report Feb 22

Just a little grooming touchup!  Scott Forsyth did a little trail touch up this evening with out any drama.  He did.. 2x laps Monty Christo road. 2x Techno grind

Reports are coming back that Techno is staying a bit more solid / colder with its higher elevation and mostly shaded aspect so it might be the place to go tomorrow if the temperatures dip down to the minus..

grooming report feb 21

A little report for you this evening.

Our new volunteer Matt Joyce took the groomer for his first solo mission. and this is what he had to say.

"Just a short one as I wasn't adding much to the trails. 2x blue elephant  2x drifter. Wanted to get Eddie j but the dog was wandering off getting bored. Haha"

So it was warm and rainy today so a bit slushy... Colder temps are on the way and maybe some snow so who knows what we have instore.

grooming report feb 20th

SO this is a slightly edited quote from our guy Tyler McBride. 

Well S$%#…pretty warm out. Kinda Raining on me while I was out. If it freezes it’ll go, but I’m kinda doubtful 😢 wasn’t grooming as wide as normal, instead trying to beat in the tread more than the soft edges. With the schmooey snow I was able to braaap the rut out. 

Brapp = throttle the groomer so it churns the snow.

So with the warmer temp today  Its probably best to hit the trails early tomorrow morning for the best experience out there. Also so it doesn't have frozen ruts and holes.

grooming report feb 15th

Its prime winter trail time!! 

the trails are benched and rolling smooth!!!  a quick little groom update..

Scott Forsyth helped with a essential  machine maintenance and needed to test his handy work so he groomed Monty Christo road land Techno grind last night

Today Brad Johansson tried out the grooming machine. We did a double machine pass on Moe's, Larry's Blue elephant. 

Its looking smooooth!!

grooming report Feb 12th

A little more snow = more grooming and the trails are getting minty!!

Tyler Mc Bride did a big lap. The snow consistency was mixed some was packing well and some wasn't.  This is what He did.

3x Eddy J 2x Blue Elephant 2x KC to look out 2x center star to down town  1x Techno  1x MC road 1x Drifter  

Also the Run Club did a 7 person snow shoe stomp on the Red top Red head Loop there still might need to be some shovel benching on that loop so heads up on that. 

Its pretty cool to have a community groups get to together to make things sweet for us to use I think!

Grooming Report Feb 11th

Fresh snow ! 

Today we had a new volunteer Matt Joyce try out the groomer and he did awesome! 

We finally fixed the spot on moes we often miss grooming.  It has some anoying side hill that needed love.

But we did a 2 machine lap on everything!

There is some wicked benching on techno grind done by Brad Johanson. Creek filling by Scott Forsyth and burm building by Dave Ford. So go team! 

It's is still snowing so it just packing some layers.

Grooming Report Feb 9th

Yeah It froze over night!! and it looks like colder temps for a few days.  I hope everyone was on the trails yesterday! I seen a few familiar faces having fun in the cold snow and warm sun! 

Tyler Mc bride got out for a little tidy up lap on the groomer . The trails he hit were 2x Blue elephant  2x Techno Grind 2x Monty Christo road 2x saddle to kc lookout 1x drifter

I would like to make note there was some regular bike tires out on the trails and they were making some ruts, I know its working for your ride, but if there is a bunch non fat tires ( 3.0 and smaller) make ruts that are hard to carve out with this low snow pack year.so please be mindful of that. But if you must it would work on Kc/ Moe's  they are bullet proof-ish so would be ok on that.   

Also for your reg tire size bike riding pleasure  the Bluff trail and Castlegar's Dirty dreams climb and trail is clear of snow.

Grooming Report Feb 7th

Hey we went grooming! Hope it freezes! If it does it going to rip!

I did a lap on everything.  It was packing ok..

Thanks to Brad Johanson for his shovel work and other who snow shoed spots to pack it down.

Use caution there are some creeks opening up on techo, drifter, eddy j and kc. They could bbe abrupt if you are not paying attention.. Puddles are fun to splash in !

What was groomed..

2x Blue elephant to ski hill

1x Larry's 

1x Moes most of it

2x Drifter

1.5 Kc 

1x Techo grind     

1× Eddy j

grooming report jan 29

Hello everyone. 

Things have been quiet on the grooming front. Unfortunately the snow is getting super warm, and holes are forming and the snow is getting (rotten) like a old squishy apple.making grooming difficult and hard on the machine.and driver. Some fresh colder snow would help so much. 

Any way there is cooler temps on the way next week they say. 

On a positive note. The Rossland Run Club is putting there strong legs to work to help make more trails usable.  They have snow shoe stomped redtop redhead.trails we cant groom.. And they have more plans to help more. But they say the snow on the trail still super soft. So maybe more snow shoe stomping on it till it cools and it will be usable without flotation aids. Thanks for your help!
