I don't know of people have thought of this, but this is a concept I'm toying with for a fic I'm writing. Current idea for my Rookanis fic.

What if pulling Rook out of the Fade had been different? What if they managed to tear open the the Fade with the false dagger? What if Rook fell out of the Fade and they weren't breathing? What if their soul was trapped in the prison while their physical body was not? What if Lucanis held them in his arms and tried desperately to wake them up? What if he pleaded and begged, but they just wouldn't move? What if he wept because he thought they were truly dead, that he finally lost the last good thing to happen to him? What if his emotions reached their soul in the prison and reconnected them with their body? What then?
