Hello and welcome! My name is @namig42, and this is a blog dedicated to an original story I have been working on for some time titled Fated Encounters. It is an original novel of mine inspired by my characters I originally made for various bg3 campaigns that ended up coming to life on their own.

I've been working on a proper map today for the continent of Draconia, and hoo boy has this been an ENDEAVOR. I feel pretty confident in this draft but who knows if it'll shift as I get a better sense of my future outlines?

The west coast feels solid and set for the most part, but the east coast might need some adjustments as I get further into the story. Still, it's been fun taking a lot more things into consideration and really building out this whole world in so many different ways!

Fun Fact:

While writing the plot for my wonderful "villain" Vero,

I started thinking a bit about who she reminded me of.

A banished heiress who goes searching for a target to restore her legitimacy and honor in the eyes of her father, and in a quest to prove herself, ends up learning and growing more than she ever would've back home...

Ah fuck. I just wrote Zuko.

So a little bit about what I have planned for the story this blog is dedicated to:

Fated Encounters is intended to be three separate books. As of now, I have a detailed outline for the first book and a rough outline for the second and third books.

As of now, I have approximately 26 chapters planned for the first book with 15 chapters roughly written. I would say those first 15 chapters are the main introduction to our characters and the dynamics that will be explored at the beginning, and the back half of this first book explores the characters more in detail and establishes a bit more of the conflict that will carry over throughout the rest of the story

I'm thinking of how I'd like to share my story most effectively. I think once I've edited all 15 chapters, maybe I'll post them somewhere or make a pdf of them to share on my ko-fi. I don't know, but I'll just worry about writing the damned thing before I put the cart before the horse.

If anyone has suggestions or asks about anything at all about writing, the plot, my characters, etc, please feel free to ask and share! I'd love to share more about each and every one of my lovelies!

Character Inro: Sylviann

Sylviann is a dragonborn raised in the mountains known as Snowdra's Pass, a mountain range where snow falls eternally and those who live on this mountain live by the motto "eat or be eaten."

Sylvi was born to a clan that taught their young quickly to strive to be noble warriors, or as noble as one can be when survival was at stake. Sylviann, along with her brother, grew into capable warriors who represented their clan well. They fought the dragonborn hunters often, keeping themselves from being either slaughtered or taken to be penned like wine by the hunters. That is, until one day, when luck was not with Sylviann and neither was her clan. In a fight with the hunters, Syvliann was captured and her fellow warriors abandoned her to save themselves and live to fight another day.

Sylviann was taken to the dragonborn hunter colony, where the humans who remained in these mountains collected dragonborn of all colors to keep as their own exotic livestock. For years, Sylvi was left to sit in a cell with the other silver dragonborn who had been taken over the decades, watching as her kin collapsed or were taken for their scales, their meat, or whatever the hunters saw fit.

For years, Sylvi sat and felt her strength disappear, but her spirit didn't falter. She remained patiently, waiting for the day where she would see the sun again and she could help her kin.

Then, one day, an elf who arrived in the snowy mountains in a purple cloak with silver armor was deemed worthy of a gift by the dragonborn hunters. The elf was led to Sylviann's cell, and that is where Sylvi enters our story.

Character Intro: Dahlia

Ahhh, Dahlia, my sweet naive nun. Dahlia was born and raised in a remote abbey of Augus that rests at the top of a mountain. The abbey itself is a beautiful, holy place that honors the golden dragon Augus, and the nuns there have dedicated their lives to worshipping and honoring Augus's glory.

Within the abbey, the qualities most valued in an acolyte are patience, modesty, humility, and diligence. Despite being especially diligent and eager to learn and teach, Dahlia's enthusiasm for learning and procuring knowledge of all subjects have left her in a lower standing. Her excitable nature has left her in lower standings compared to the other nuns, and yet she persists in reading anything and everything she can find and capturing the world and all of her thoughts in her own records and journals. After a lifetime of sketching the same scenes and things, Dahlia has become quite the artist and author.

Within the church of Augus, an acolyte is not deemed worthy to go and spread the glory of Augus until they reach the age of 30. Those who serve Augus must be wise and mature, and so acolytes are not deemed worthy until that age at the earliest. Due to how Dahlia's reputation has been her whole life though, she worries she may never get the chance to see the world and that she'll be limited to the world of books for the rest of her life.

Favorite place: A quiet library. The bigger, the better. She also loves a good tavern crawling with all sorts of fun characters and excitement to be had.

Favorite person: Before she meets her new friends, it's her favorite character from her favorite tale: the dragonborn hero Gwyndolf

Favorite sound: The scratching of her quill on parchment as she records all of the thoughts she possibly can.

Favorite person: At the start of our story? Probably the baker at the market that always seems to leave a loaf or two of bread in a spot just out of sight, and never seems to get upset when it goes missing.

Favorite genre: Adventure filled with elements of angst. Can't read though, so only gets to hear stories when they overhear them being shared by bards and poets.

Favorite word: Shiny. It's fun to mutter when they get excited.

Favorite sound: The sound of clattering metal on a wooden table

Favorite physical sensation: The feeling of fresh wind cooling their sweaty skin and making them cold and refreshed.

Favorite thing: Her earrings. She hates to go anywhere without them.

Favorite place: The Verikov manor, specifically the main hall. She loves the stained glass ceiling and the plants that fill the room made of smooth white stone

Favorite person: At the start of our story? The human that made her earrings and gifted them to her.

Favorite genre: Sappy romance, although she's loathe to admit it.

Favorite word: Please. She loves hearing people beg her. She also likes saying it in... certain situations, but she can't let anyone know that. After all, she is a powerful noble that is never meant to ask for things, only to take what she wants.

Favorite sound: The sound of her flute when she plays it perfectly on calm, quiet days.

Favorite physical sensation: Someone trailing their hands up her bare sides and back and down her arms with a gentle, lingering touch The feeling of smooth, sheer silk garments

Okay I want opportunities to gush about my OCs so I'm just gonna make one of those tag challenges myself as an excuse to list off random facts about my characters. Let's start with a character I haven't even introduced yet officially in my story but holds a near and dear place in my heart:

Wyndolyn!

My mercenary half-orc with the biggest heart! Also my first bg3 character that I quickly fell in love with.

Favorite color: Green

Favorite food: A good steak with lots of pepper

Favorite animal: Bear!

Favorite thing: Rocks! Especially nice smooth ones that fit easily in the palm of her hand.

Favorite place: By a babbling brook in a quiet forest

Favorite person: In bg3 lore, Karlach! For my original story, we'll say the boss of her guild for now. Her name is Firene.

Favorite genre: Adventure stories and heroic tales!

Favorite word: Geode. It just sounds neat, and the soft g sound feel nice. Plus, they're pretty!

Favorite sound: The quiet ripple of a peaceful river, and the sound of stone being gently shifted underneath the water.

Favorite physical sensation: Shifting rocks around in calm water or walking on stones on a rainy day and hearing the soft clatter of the rocks underneath her feet with each step.

Favorite smell: the smell of freshly falling rain in the forest.

Favorite thing to look at: An early sunrise reflecting off of a calm body of water. A quiet river or a still lake are her favorites.

Now that I've shared her proper introduction chapter, I think it's time to do a short character intro for my first and absolute favorite half-orc!

Character Intro: Wyndolyn!

(and her love Karlach because my two strong barbarians deserve one another)

Wyndolyn is a mercenary involved with a group called the Builders, who are a group that pride themselves on building people up. She joined them as a rowdy teen after running away from home and being recruited by her current boss Firene. Wyndolyn serves as one of Firene's top units, being the best suited for a scrap thanks to orc intimidation and muscle.

Despite being called Rocks for Brains by her crew, Wyndolyn considers the Builders her family. Sure, they can get a bit rowdy, but what family doesn't? It's all out of love of course.

When she's not diligently working for her guild and trying to help any wayward soul in her path, Wyndolyn enjoys a quiet meal, a good drink, and a good rock. She has a knack for finding nice stones that fit comfortably in her palm and stashing them in her pockets when she finds them. Her pack is known for clacking from all the rocks inside, and the sound soothes her.
