Twelve years ago. The City of Light sits on the Great Maw lake.

The Outer Gardens outside the city has access to a Purifier below.

Central Square connects the Outer Gardens and Ansem’s Castle.

Two years ago. Ansem’s Castle surrounded by flooded City ruins.

Ruined Outer Gardens reveal unpurified Rising Falls spring below.

Teleport across flooded Central Square straight to the Castle gate.

One year ago. Damming and draining water out to rebuild the city.

A dammed Rising Falls is used to secretly store Organization data.

Maleficent moved to Villain’s Vale across the dried Great Maw.

Today. Complete restoration of the City, Squares, and Castle.

Presumably The Great Maw is filled to become a great lake once more, though it’s possible Villains Vale is still standing across the lake, while Garden of Assemblage is buried under Central Square.
