*Someone new appears!

They appear to be friendly (and maybe even naive-), a big smile on their face and some pep in their step, even if in this place where death is ongoing and not permanent.*

"HI, NEW PERSON I'VE TOTALLY NEVER SEEN BEFORE, HOW ARE YOU??"

Perhaps they're just forgetful? Or maybe dumb. Surely they'd already met everyone, hadn't they?? How could they miss someone???

*Their voice almost echos in whatever environment they've found this new friend! unknown stranger in, loudly one could say, though they seem to not take notice of their own volume. They're already starting off... strong, in their apparent attempt to make a good impression. As to if it was good though, they couldn't immediately determine.*

*Roulette doesn't notice the stranger right away, nearly jumping out of his skin when addressed.*

"I uh, hello? I'm... good?

...How 'bout you?"

*New? Has this person not met Chance yet? Do they not recognize the face Rou's stolen? Come to think of it... He doesn't recognize the other either.

Perhaps they're the new one?*

"I'm great! Fantastic, even!!"

*They're still somewhat loud, laughing as they speak. They seem akin to that of an energetic child, despite the fact they are obviously not that young. (They might even be able match c00lkidd's energy....)

They hold out a hand for him to shake, beaming like the damn sun that has not graced this place in forever.*

"Also, I'm P4PERF0LD3D, but, I've been told that that's too hard to remember, so you can just call me P4! Only if you really want to, though!!"

Their name sure is.. colorful (literally).*

*Oh yup. This person definitely reminds him of c00lkidd. Which is a little weird seeing as he hasn't interacted that much with the child himself. Why's he so fond of the idea?

Rou's smile is bright as he takes the offered hand, shaking it a little lazily. He's sure the other will plenty make up for his lack of energy though, seeing as they seem to be teeming with it. It's undoubtedly a nice change of pace from the usual atmosphere.*

"Nice to meetcha' P4! I'm Roulette, but you can call me Rou if you'd like."

*How does one even make a spoken word sound so colorful?*

*P4PERF0LD3D somehow manages to smile even more, like some blinding light.*

"Oooh..."

*There's a pause, as they take a second to process his name.*

"..I really like your name!! It sounds very unique!"

*They giggle, speaking honestly.

No distaste,

No fear,

Not even an overly fake giggle.

They then shake his hand rather quickly for a second before letting go.*

"Now that we know each other's names, wanna be friends??"

*They're hoping he'll say yes- they absolutely love making new friends! They almost seem to be bouncing in place at the very idea, too.*

*Rou chuckles lightly at the compliment.*

"Why, thank you! It was... a gift from a friend."

*He's not sure how to take the other's genuine honesty and lack of fear. It's refreshing, yes, but also so very unfamiliar in a place like this. A nice change of pace, at least.*

"Oh..? Course we can be friends! I'd be glad to be friends with a person like you!"

*Although foreign, his own enthusiasm is real.*

*P4PERF0LD3D's eyes shine with joy, their body trembling.*

"Haha! Yay, new friend!!"

*They enthusiastically stated, loud enough to be heard by just about anyone.*

"Does this mean we can make origami together? Or give hugs?? That'd be super fun!!-"

*P4 pauses mid word, bringing a loose fist over their mouth.*

*They then clear their throat, attempting to take it down a notch and not overwhelm their new friend with their excitement.*

*They try to say what they mean again, without being too loud.*

"Anyways, uh,,, can we, uhm, maybe make origami, together...??"

*P4's expression is hopeful, like a child waiting for a cookie. They've even got those cartoony sparkles(✨) around them, as they clasp their hands together and smile at Rou.*

*Oh goodness this kid person is loud, huh? Not that he minds all that much, but the worry of other, less friendly persons, finding them via the noise does cross his mind for a moment.

Rou tries to smooth the frazzled look from his face before replying.*

"Don't see why we can't! Though, unless you have paper ready on hand yourself, we may need to make some... Don't think the shed holds any."

*They don't exactly have anything important to do at the moment, so spending a bit with this new companion of theirs can't hurt.

Gently, they place a hand on P4's shoulder. Soft enough to be shook off should the other decide to. He did catch that one mention of hugs, after all.*

"Though uh, ya may need to teach me aswell. Can't remember the last time I made origami."

*He scratches the back of his neck awkwardly with his other hand.*

*P4PERF0LD3D nods enthusiastically.*

"Sure! I can help teach you! Origami is kinda my whole thing, heh-"

"And, you don't have to worry about paper."

*They sound proud to be so skilled.

After proceeding to then dig into their pockets, they pull out... Perfectly good, origami paper? How???*

"I've always got some on me! Can't have too much, yeah??"

*They cheerfully say, holding the small yet sizable stack neatly on their right palm. (Each piece of paper was a different color on one side, and white on the other- perfect for origami.)*

*Rou's eyes nearly light up at the sight of the colorful paper. It's not often you see such intact craft supplies in a place like this, after all.*

"Should've suspected you'd have some on ya! You seem like the type to be prepared no matter the place after all!"

*Briefly, he thinks about bringing the other inside, but the thought of the dirty laundry currently piled in the corner quickly shuts the idea down.

He eyes the door to the shed anyway.*

"Ehh... Let's stay outside. My place is kinda a mess right now.

'Sides! It's a... Niceish day out, right? All we need is a picnic blanket and we'll be set! Lemme go grab one..."

*And so, Rou heads inside to find the cleanest cloth they can.*

"I'm okay with anything!"

*P4 chuckles whilst nodding, shifting onto their other foot.*

"I'll stay right here! Just don't take too long!!"

*They cheerfully say. They're so happy-go-lucky, it's adorable...

They figure they're just gonna,, chill out, standing there.

They don't seem to mind waiting at all, their attention drifting towards their surroundings, eyes wandering over everything.

Curious, and with ever running thoughts in their head.*

*It doesn't take him long to find what he's looking for, even if he did audibly trip over a few stray objects along the way. He shouts an "I'm okay!" to his guest outside before they can ask about the noise.

Finally, he steps back out the shed, plaid picnic blanket in tow, and a few minor bruises to boot.*

"Yeesh, I really gotta clean soon. Didn't realize how covered in dust everythin' was till I disturbed it all, haha!"

*They clear their throat a little, folding the blanket in half and slinging it over their shoulder.*

"So, we staying here outside the shed? Or are we finding a better spot for our impromptu picnic crafting session?"

*There's sure to be more scenic places in this place... Maybe along the river?

Though, they wouldn't mind staying here instead if P4PERFOLD3D prefers.*

*P4PERF0LD3D blinked, and nodded.*

"Somewhere by the river sounds fun! Not too windy, but still the perfect temperature!"

*They nod, their voice full of cheer and excite.

Oh, and, would you look at it, they're already running off that direction. Wow, they're pretty quick.

P4 is sure to check and make sure Rou is following though, stopping to happily wave from far ahead.*

"Last one's a rotten egg!"

*They playfully yell to him, like the walk had turned into a short race, before continuing forward, paper in hand.*

*Rou barks a laugh at that, amused by P4's antics.*

*Despite his own warnings he too speeds up to a lively jog.

For a moment he's tempted to switch to Elliot if only to use his rush hour and catch up, but decides against it. He's not quite sure how his aquantince feels about shapeshifters just yet, and besides, it would likely make for an unfair race.

Even so, his form still briefly flickers to said pizza worker on instinct. He hopes the other doesn't notice his slip up.*

*Startled, they scan their surroundings, nearly expecting star to pop out of a nearby bush.*

"It's nice to hear from you again! I'm good enough, how've you been friend?"

*Apollo's discomfort hadn't gone unnoticed by Rou, though they did seem to miss it's missing limb.

He stiffens.

Has Apollo reconsidered his decision to be friends with them? Did star realize that he's not worth being friends with? That they're actually a monster?

Does Apollo know?

It that why he's here? To break the news that they're not friends anymore?

Are they just overthinking this? They hope they're just overthinking this...*

"Uh, Apollo? Buddy? You alright?"

*His voice is wobbly.*

*He watches the other carefully. Committing it's actions to their mind.

He's seen that look before.*

"...Are you sure?"

*He's about to say something else when the topic of a weapon comes up.

They left the gun at home of course. They always try to get rid of it whenever applicable. They don't like having it on them, after all. Reminds them of worse times.

So why are they so unsure now?

He can feel something heavy against his waist, something that weighs down the holster. Slowly they look down to check.

Of course it comes back to haunt him now.

He doesn't say anything. Doesn't even look at Apollo. He's just frozen, staring blankly at the gun. You'd think it's a bomb strapped to his hip with how still he is.*

> [ Staring at the weapon with a weary gaze, he can't stop himself before he's already taken a step or tow back. Pull yourself together. ]

> [ That's not Chance, Rou wouldn't hurt him. and right now they look scared. and that's 100 times more important than whatever else he could be feeling. ]

> [ He can't, think of anything else to say. ]

*Their eyes are trained on the gun, but still they see the other step back. Even if his expression isn't the exact same, Rou's mind fills in the blanks for them. That visage of terror on his face.

Distantly he registers Apollo speaking, but his mind is elsewhere.

Back in those rounds.

The survivors were scared of them. Scared of the being that took on their friends' faces. Of the thing that kept begging, pleading with them to stop looking at it like they weren't sure who they were speaking to. Whether friend or foe.

It truly believed it was one of them. That the person it stole its face from was an imposter. It didn't matter that it's form would change each round, it still went the same each time.

It would always end up killing them all, believing it's "friends" betrayed it for a fake. When it itself was the fake.

It remembers pressing the barrel of that very gun against so many terrified faces. The same face he sees on Apollo.

Rou can't breathe. Their heart is hammering. Their breath comes out short and shallow. Their head is pounding. They can't breathe they can't breathe they can't breathe.

He needs to get rid of the gun.

Slowly, he pinches the handle between his forefinger and thumb. Even slower, he pulls it out of the holster.

For a second, they're just standing there. Staring at the thing like its a piece of trash they impulsively picked up.

And then, sharply, he turns in the opposite direction of Apollo. Whips the gun away, away from his body and towards a nearby tree. Throws it with more force than necessary. With more strength than Chance may even have.

It shatters from the impact.

He doesn't feel when he falls to his knees, able to breathe again. He just leers at the broken pieces of the weapon like it had personally slighted him.

He still doesn't look at Apollo.

"Don't... have one anymore! Haha..."

> [ For the moment that Rou holds the firearm, Apollo holds his breath, fighting not to run. He knows he's overreacting, but Rou is acting odd, and they're just holding it. ]

> [ At the sudden movement, he does all he can think of, turning and covering his head with his arm, bracing for an impact that never comes. ]

> [ Its the silence after Rou's exasperated statement that gives him the chance to look back up, seeing the now shattered remains of the weapon. ]

*Rou is slow to lift their head.

They saw that flinch out of the corner of their eye after all. They know the expression of the other isn't going to be pleasant. But yet they still hope, they still pray, that the situation is salvageable.

Their gaze is distant, but their eyes focus when they finally land on Apollo.

All they can see is the fear. He's afraid of them. As he should be.

They hang their head low.*

"I'm usually just... Annoyed it's there. Maybe a bit uncomfortable. Or even disturbed. But not...

That. It's never like that."

*He crying again. Roblox damn it all.

He tilts his head to hid the tears silently streaming down his face.*

"Please just. Tell me what I did wrong? You're not the first person to look at me like that... Please. I. I can fix it. Please."

Just , a couple of run ins with, Chance. that. ended poorly- that's not, that doesn't matter are you okay ??

*Static creeps up his form slowly, as it had been since he broke down, but it's only now he notices how fuzzy he feels. The edges of his shape blur, and his shadows flicker like a bad lighting engine from a glitchy game.

His limbs are starting to feel numb.

But still he sits there a second. Debating something.*

"...Chance?"

*That doesn't sound right. As far as they know, Chance isn't the type to intentionally hurt their friends. There's nothing in Rou's limited memories they stole that would even suggest he did.

Maybe it was something unintentional?

But still, why would his appearance make Apollo react so negatively?*

"I can be someone else then! Don't need to be Chance, you know..."

*He can't think straight enough to pick a form properly, doesn't even really know which would be best for Apollo, so he just lets instinct decide.

Static flickers, and his figure jumps from one to the next, but never quite comfortable enough to stick. But it does eventually settle...

On a reflection of Apollo.*

"Ah. Woops. Didn't mean. Uh."

*His thoughts get cut off when he notices how unsymmetrical he feels. His newest form is missing an arm.

Rou just. Blinks at it. Confused.

It doesn't exactly feel fresh, but it isn't an old wound either. Still healing.*

"Are you? Missing an arm? Or did I just. Somehow screw that up too."

*It takes it a minute to pick itself up off the ground, as both Apollo and Rou lack the experience needed to be a bit more graceful in such action.

He doesn't see that distinct terror on Apollo's face anymore, instead being replaced with more of a discomforted expression. But at least it's not that fear from before.

He realizes a little too late that the tear tracks haven't gone away with the swap of forms, even if the tears have dried already. He probably looks a little more worse for wear than he should.*

"Probably just look like, a... worse version of you. Hah, sorry."

*Feebly, he wipes the tears from his copy of a face, being mindful of the more fragile features there.

Star winces minutely as Apollo shrugs. Rou knows how that would feel now, after all. Not pleasant...*

"Dunno if. If you should be calling them friends if they keep hurting you like that."

*There's something else he wants to say, but he's hesitating. If says what he's thinking than he might just be offering his own head on the chopping block.*

He doesn't feel like he himself deserves trust or forgiveness like that, though. Even if he's changed. Even if he wants to believe he isn't that monster anymore.

He shakes his head gently.

*They sound proud to be so skilled.

After proceeding to then dig into their pockets, they pull out... Perfectly good, origami paper? How???*

"I've always got some on me! Can't have too much, yeah??"

*They cheerfully say, holding the small yet sizable stack neatly on their right palm. (Each piece of paper was a different color on one side, and white on the other- perfect for origami.)*

*Rou's eyes nearly light up at the sight of the colorful paper. It's not often you see such intact craft supplies in a place like this, after all.*

"Should've suspected you'd have some on ya! You seem like the type to be prepared no matter the place after all!"

*Briefly, he thinks about bringing the other inside, but the thought of the dirty laundry currently piled in the corner quickly shuts the idea down.

He eyes the door to the shed anyway.*

"Ehh... Let's stay outside. My place is kinda a mess right now.

'Sides! It's a... Niceish day out, right? All we need is a picnic blanket and we'll be set! Lemme go grab one..."

*And so, Rou heads inside to find the cleanest cloth they can.*

"I'm okay with anything!"

*P4 chuckles whilst nodding, shifting onto their other foot.*

"I'll stay right here! Just don't take too long!!"

*They cheerfully say. They're so happy-go-lucky, it's adorable...

They figure they're just gonna,, chill out, standing there.

They don't seem to mind waiting at all, their attention drifting towards their surroundings, eyes wandering over everything.

"Yeesh, I really gotta clean soon. Didn't realize how covered in dust everythin' was till I disturbed it all, haha!"

*They clear their throat a little, folding the blanket in half and slinging it over their shoulder.*

"So, we staying here outside the shed? Or are we finding a better spot for our impromptu picnic crafting session?"

*There's sure to be more scenic places in this place... Maybe along the river?

Though, they wouldn't mind staying here instead if P4PERFOLD3D prefers.*

*Someone new appears!

They appear to be friendly (and maybe even naive-), a big smile on their face and some pep in their step, even if in this place where death is ongoing and not permanent.*

"HI, NEW PERSON I'VE TOTALLY NEVER SEEN BEFORE, HOW ARE YOU??"
