a slice of eternity

He feels a little unsteady asking, like his ankle has rolled in the simple act of walking. Recoverable, sure, no real damage done, but bringing the startled realisation that his body doesn’t always do what he tells it to.

Which is silly, and Jimin knows it’s silly. He lived in the same room as Hobi for over a decade, and it was the military that severed that final tie before either of them really started hunting for the scissors. They’d never made a decision to stop being together - the world had just sort of done that for them, and maybe that’s what has Jimin off-kilter about asking now.

(Or: Hobi stays with Jimin while his apartment is getting renovated. Romance ensues).

Like the hard press of his body into Namjoon’s, the solid weight of Jimin straddling his hips, is somehow going to hold him together.

Hoseok peered through the windscreen. "I doubt it. But I suppose there are quite a lot of clouds."

"Maybe there'll be a blizzard," suggested Jungkook, shivering happily. "And so much snow will fall that we'll be cut off. Completely isolated. And then the power will go out-"

"Please don't say that!"

"-and we'll have to huddle round the fire for warmth, and carry candles to get back to our rooms!" Jungkook could picture it all very clearly - the dead quiet, the eerie creaking of tree branches, faces illuminated by a candle flame. And then, after several days of isolation, Jungkook would bravely set off down the mountain to fetch help. He'd fall in a stream and nearly freeze, but he'd persevere until he reached civilisation - stumbling through a door and gasping out his information before passing out.

(Jungkook has always wanted to be the star of a romantic tale. Perhaps this idyllic mountain holiday will be his chance. A modern Northanger Abbey AU)

Jungkook stares. He stares at the man with his stupid long coat and styled hair, at the outstretched hand, at the self-assured grin. He blinks. “This is it,” Jungkook says. “I’ve officially lost it.”

The man’s grin, impossibly, widens.
