like there was a CHOICE to make Nina, Lin’s self insert in this narrative, a woman, there was a CHOICE to give Vanessa her own independent plot with Daniela, there was a CHOICE to have Camila settle the Rosario family drama, there was a CHOICE to have Claudia be the driven motivation behind the two plot climaxes (Nina going back to Stanford, Usnavi staying in New York), In the Heights is very purposefully giving women a place and a voice in the narrative and 99% of the fandom ignores it for the sake of lusting over whichever male character they prefer to fetishize
