So I’m back.... in so many ways
Hey everyone. I’m back and back for good now. I’ve lost my password over and over again but now it’s locked in and I won’t lose it again.
ALSO
I’m joining my college track team again in January!!
I’ll be most likely on the 4x4 team as well as jumping and doing whatever else I want cause I’m a senior in college and I can do what I want.
Happy Holidays and keep submitting and being awesome!
I'm in track and I have to say the best thing is the standing long jump and the 300 (:
I wish they had those when I ran track :(Anyone have other good ideas for things that should be in track but aren't?
ON BEING INJURED
Your original plan:
When you realized that wasn’t going to work:
lol me right now
I've never ran track until high school. Last year I ran F/S and my PR was a 52. This year I am running varsity. The thing is, since it was my first year in hurdles I was just getting used to it. And after everyrace I was never out of breath, which means I could've gone faster. Do you think this year I can PR to at least a 46? Any advice or tips?
You can PR at whatever you want to as long as you are willing to put forth the work and effort. The problem is the effort. My PR was a 45 and i worked not super hard, but hard enough to get there from a 51. Generally with the longer (over 200ish) (and especially with hurdles) you have a lot of time to gain. Overall speed, maintaining speed after hurdles, being lower to the hurdle, not slowing down before the hurdle, your start, not falling off/slowing down at the last 100-50m, and more. Just keep working at it (this goes for everyone not just this one person, EVERYONE keep working at what you want to do and you will do it, it's just going to take time and a fuckload of effort but it can be done) :D
good luck

I have a confession to make
I had to quit track at my college. It was too much of a commitment and I don’t have time. And there are things I could be doing with that time (passing my classes, sleeping, backpacking, rockclimbing, socializing, eating, and such). I will keep this blog because I still love track and I am still working out and running, but I am just no longer on the team :’( Just so you guys know… anyway F-YEAH SEXY TRACK AND FIELD PEOPLE
do you know why some states have 400 intermediate hurdles and others have 300, cuz it doesnt make much sense to me?
No idea. All college levels run 400m hurdles, so some states may think high school athletes should be doing the same as college to prepare or because they are good enough, some must think that 400m is to far... idk. It just is that way because it is.
hi so im a sophomore and i run my 400s in 73sec i want to improve my speed. what can help me improve it?
Guys stop asking me really. I'm not an expert on these things. I would say ALWAYS ask your coach first, because they know what you are doing already and most know what you are capable of. If your coach sucks, wont help, or you don't have one. Google is a great resource :P. I can give you guys general advice about track and life, sorry...
I'm a junior in high school. I ran distance track my freshmen year and I didn't run last year, due to a minor foot stress fracture. I'm playing to run this year again. I haven't been running though. I am planning to run the 800m distance again this year. What are some suggestions to get back into the running routine considering I haven't ran in almost 2 years? Should I start eating healthier again to prep for this season already?
Start slow and build up to where you should be running to. And always eat health :D
I'm a junior in high school and this will be my first year doing track. I'm not in shape or anything but do you have any tips for me to get in shape or for after the season starts?
It depends on what you will be running but in general just try to run as much as you can. 30-40 min runs are generally good for everyone (longer if you're distance, and more often). Also get in contact with your future coach and ask them, they will have soming more specific and tailored to what you will be doing in the regular season.
Good luck

In response to that hurdle question, I can honestly say I never received a single injury from hurdling. I hurdled the 55, 100 and 300 meters in high school for 8 seasons and was on the varsity level. I only ever "wiped out" once aka tripping and falling over. As long as you take it slow, strive for excellence but don't do anything stupid or pass your boundaries, you'll be fine! Hurdling was without a doubt my favorite thing about high school!
