"graham..." elliot repeated the name like it meant anything to him at all, bottom lip jutted out in thought as he considered the strange young man. it wasn't right for him to judge when he too had once been overly eager to climb the literary ladder by any means necessary, though he hoped he hadn't appeared even nearly as desperate as that poor boy was. before he had the chance to continue berate him with painfully specific analyses of his character, there was a knock on the door and jamie jumped away from him like he was an open flame she had gotten too close to. he should have been more careful about who knew about her being in his room but he doubted that any of the hotel staff knew anything about who he was or the literary conference going on. if they thought he was just some pervy older guy, well they wouldn't have been far off. "okay... let's see what the fuck we ordered." he had given jamie free reign over the room service menu, on the condition that she made sure to order them some more alcohol (that didn't come in baby-sized bottles.) there was far more food there than two people alone could eat, including a fancy looking pasta dish with a stupid sprig of green on top, truffle fries with parmesan, an obscenely stacked up burger, a delicately placed salad he only cast a brief glance over and dessert, of course. it would have been expensive enough to only get one meal but once again, elliot cast aside the worries about money because it wasn't his concern. once all the lids had been cast aside to fully display their gluttony, elliot went for the expensive looking bottle of wine that had been placed to the side of their food and began to twist it open. "how much of this do you think you're going to eat, realistically? cause i think i could put back a solid... 75% of this alone." he mused before using his foot to push the cart closer to the end of the bed while his hands were still busy. "we should eat in bed." there was a table they could have sat and eaten at like normal people but why bother when the bed was so big and comfortable? what a waste it would be to not use the luxuries they had been afforded. "unless you're creeped out by crumbs or whatever in the sheets."

"it seemed like less food when i was ordering it... i think i may have blacked out after the fries." looking at it all spread out atop the crisp white tablecloth she felt overwhelmed with choice and slightly guilty for all the food they were about to waste, though her rumbling stomach was currently her primary concern. the only thing she'd had since dinner were a couple frou-frou little hors d'oeuvres at the event elliot brought her along to, and they weren't nearly substantial enough to soak up the amount of alcohol she'd consumed. it was only as she came face to face with the sheer volume of food laid out before her that she realized just how hungry she was. "25 percent seems generous, honestly," she murmured, continuing to merely eye the plates as if he'd slap her hand away should she try and reach for something. "but if there's anything leftover it's going in my purse." her body would pay the price of her excessive drinking in the morning, but at the moment she eagerly ogled the bottle of wine elliot was opening for them, a fluttering in her gut like the flapping of delicate wings. "i'm not the one who has to sleep on crummy sheets," she shrugged. there was something significantly more intimate about eating in bed rather than sitting at a table or at least a couch, jamie felt like she was getting away with something taboo just sitting atop the crisp white sheets taking bites from every dish and sipping on bordeaux. the conversation petered out as their mouths remained occupied with trying to make a dent in the vast sea of dishes spread out on the bed, though when jamie glanced his way, she saw elliot had been staring at her for some time already. "what?" her cheeks flushed pink immediately, ducking her head and dabbing at her mouth with a napkin. "do i have food on my face?"

princess tending to their wounded knight. knight brushing off their concern, insisting that really he's fine, but the order of bedrest is driving him mad with boredom. the princess kindly offers to entertain him. the knight, flirt that he is, makes some sly joke. "entertain at a lot of bedsides, do you, your highness?" it was a mindless little jest, he expected maybe a blush or a scoff. but no, the princess tilts their head sweetly and replies with easy confidence. "no, not really. I'm much more entertaining in bed." the knight nearly swallows his tongue. his bravado pales to a sheepish, nervous grin. even flustered, though, he's curious. "have you ever entertained a knight before?" they blink slowly, raking a gaze up and down his form, and suddenly he feels so on display with the blankets folded at the waist and his bloodied and bandaged torso exposed to the air. their gaze lingers at his hips and he fights against a rising twitch. they chuckle. "I find knights endlessly amusing," they answer. "hounds, many of you. all bark... but good little toys when you're reminded of your place." they're eyeing his bandages now as hungrily as they eyed the growing tent under the blankets. suddenly the knight feels like a rabbit wirh a foot in a snare being sized up by a fox. still, when they speak, its the voice of an angel, calm and feather-soft. "would you like me to rid you of that dreadful boredom, sir knight?"
