Well you can’t break a pinky promise
“…anyway” as an insult is so powerful yet concise
Romance isn’t dead
“years in the future, when you look back, that grade won’t matter, you probably won’t even remember it.”
sure, you’re probably right. congratulations.
i can say that for me it really just makes things worse. for some it helps but you have to be sure that you’re saying it to the people it helps.
yeah it doesn’t really matter later on, but it matters now otherwise you wouldn’t be upset.
stop telling people that it doesn’t matter. it does. it matters to them during that moment at that time of their life. stop invalidating their feelings in an attempt to console them.
because you’re probably making them feel worse.
why can’t we say that it sucks and it means something? and that it will have some effect in the present? that you’re going to have learn from this mistake and better yourself because of it?
why can’t we ask what they plan on doing about it? what they can do? where they went wrong?
why must we see failure as simply something that happens, instead of a learning opportunity?
we need to stop telling people it won’t matter later on, because the fact is that it matters to them during the moment it happens and there are other ways to make people feel better.
"It's impossible to express how special it feels when so many people help you."
For the past 27 days, a small Protestant church in The Hague has been conducting round-the-clock religious services to protect an Armenian refugee family from deportation.
By law, police officers in The Netherlands are not allowed to enter places of worship during religious services. So, reverends from around the country have taken turns holding services at Bethel Church to prevent officials from arresting the Tamrazyan family, who have been in The Netherlands for nine years.
“By giving hospitality to this family, we could give them time and place to [demonstrate] to the secretary of state the … urgency of their situation,” Theo Hettema, chairman of the General Council of Protestant Ministers says.
