Despite the happiness the thief felt having Jean-Phillipe back, there was also part of him knowing that the other was still angry with him. He realizes now how selfish it might have been — which brings Remy to consider looking for a way to reverse what was done if that’s what the man he has come to care for really wants. However, that’s a thought to be brought up another day. He’s more concerned with the current situation.
Why does Jean-Phillipe keep coming around if he was angry with him? Remy doesn’t know the answer, but they also don’t do a lot of talking USUALLY. He makes note of the mask being on, that‘s how this was going to go, huh? They might actually see it through, but hopefully it would be ending well. Remy has hope at least — making him sigh a little in anticipation.
“I thought I heard somethin’, but figured one of de cats woke up.” His head tilts to the side, bright red eyes just staring on at his company. “Ya look good as always. What do I owe dis visit? Did you my handsome face already?”
He knows Remy means it as a passing question, playfully curious as always. It’s in his nature, Jean-Phillipe knows that. But it’s a valid question all the same, serious or not. What is he doing here? He’s still annoyed at Remy, frustrated the man couldn’t let him live out the rest of his mind’s days in peace where he was. It would’ve been easier, for both of them really.
Maybe that’s why he’s here. Maybe for once, he’s hoping that coming here will give him some kind of understanding, maybe even some closure. The problem there is that.. well, he’s not very good at expressing the need for either of those things, so it never goes that way.
“You can’t even see my face, how could you know that?” He asks in response to Remy’s comment, trying to stay focused on - well, talking. Having a conversation about this. “I thought it was time we... talked.” Jean-Phillipe starts slowly, pained expression hidden beneath his mask. Thank god. “And I do mean actually talking this time.”
charles has to choose his words carefully here – jean-phillipe is unique among the many mutants && near-mutants that charles has met in his many years. and there’s always a level of discomfort, seeing someone who’s body you recently possessed. at least, it’s uncomfortable now. charles hasn’t had the experience often enough to make any generalizations. “ i’m glad t see you’re back. how are you feeling ?? ”
Jean-Phillipe holds no ill will to Charles for using his body. He wanted to make the sacrifice of course - it was an opportunity for Jean-Phillipe too, to leave that life behind. No, that’s not where his irritation comes from. That’s from the fact that, for some reason, he’s been brought back to that exact life. And he can’t help but wonder if Xavier had a hand in that. “I’m fine. It seems you took decent care of this body.” He responds, crossing his arms over his chest. He’s wearing his mask as always, so there’s no way Xavier will be able to read his frustrations in his mind - but it’s hard to miss in his body language. “I didn’t think I was going to need to do so again, though.”
It’s probably not overly safe, but Fantomex has a habit of just.. flying wherever he wants. He knows people probably aren’t alright with it. And he knows he’s likely to run into trouble as a result. But he’s bored. He’s bored and he’s not particularly worried about the rules and frankly, Gotham looks pretty interesting. And if he’s stuck out here again, he may as well do some exploring.
The alert takes him by surprise, though. Someone’s following him - not tracking from the ground, but from the sky. Interesting. “EVA. We have company?” He asks curiously, eyeing the alert. “It looks like it. Someone doesn’t seem so fond of you being in their airspace.” He snorts and continues on anyway, leaving comm channels carefully open - mostly to see exactly how they plan on handling the situation.
It was planned to be a quiet night in — the three cats are asleep on one of the chairs in Remy’s living room. He pushes his fingers through his hair, moving into the kitchen to put away some of his dishes. It doesn’t take long, carefully placing the last plate inside of the cupboard. It shouldn’t SURPRISE him with what came next, but once the mutant turns around just to find FANTOMEX standing right behind him. [ @fcntomex ]
“You know dat you could knock, JP? I didn’t even hear you come in. How long ‘ave you been standin’ dere?” There was still feelings, although left unsaid because Remy doesn’t know how to go about bringing them up. There’s a smile forming on his face as his bright red eyes look over at the other man, closing the distance between them by a few steps.
Jean-Phillipe is still mad. Really, he is. The fact that Remy couldn’t just let his mind live in peace, in a live where he didn’t have to be something so specific - and so disliked - frustrates him to no end. He wanted his peace. And instead he’s got.... this. This world that’s somehow even more messed up than it was when he left. And he’s not happy about it.
And yet, somehow, he keeps coming back.
Maybe it’s to give Remy a piece of his mind. Or to finally put an end to whatever this is. Or to find out why he played a part in this. But they never really get that far in the conversation. “I know I could. That’s why I don’t.” He responds, his mask still on his face. Entirely intentional - maybe if he keeps it on they will actually get through a conversation this time. “A few minutes. I thought it would be interesting to see how long it took you to notice.” He doesn’t move when Remy approaches, just watches - sizing up the situation, waiting to see just what the man does.”
are you ready to meet your new gods, JEAN-PHILLIPE? FANTOMEX is known for HIS EXTERNAL NERVOUS SYSTEM, MISDIRECTION BY ILLUSIONS AND REGENERATIVE HEALING, and is usually seen hanging around THE X-FORCE OCCASIONALLY. genetically, HE is an ENGINEERED MUTATE from the MARVEL universe, and is UNKNOWN - APPEARS 30 years old.
History ;;
Fantomex was a text subject of the Weapon Plus program. He has no memory of his life before the experiments that turned him into Weapon XIII, designation Charlie Cluster-7.
It’s up for debate whether or not he’s a mutant - his abilities were a result of the experiments, but he’s definitely not human anymore
He escaped The World and hid from the X-Corporation in Paris, coming across Charles and Jean in the process. He made up a farce about being on the run because he was the most wanted thief in Europe, when in reality he had no memory of who he was and had just escaped. This was later revealed to Jean when his mask slipped - a mask with ceramic, psychic-blocking plates which keep him safe from the likes of Jean and Charles - and she saw who he really was
Jean chose to believe his vow that he’d never let himself be used as a weapon, allowing him to find his own life to live. He decided to try and live up to the promise of being Europe’s most wanted thief, setting himself on a life of crime and chosing his own names for himself, one of which was Jean-Phillipe.
Over his life he’s worked with a few different X-Forces - one was responsible for a mission to kill the clone of the original Apocolypse. When the rest of the team decided to let the child live, Fantomex knew he had to act and shot him in an effort to protect the world from him
Little did everyone else know he then grew his own clone of Apocolypse in his lap in The World, wanting to prove that genetics didn’t matter and he could still grow up to be a happy and positive child in spite of these. He needed to prove there was still hope for himself.
Fantomex was later tortured and killed by the Shadow King after sacrificing himself to save Psylocke. Fortunately his brains were still in tact and E.V.A. - his external nervous system and ship - deposited his body into a cloning hatch. The machine made a mistake, assuming three brains meant three bodies, and this resulted in three Fantomex’s, all displaying three aspects of the original Fantomex’s nature
After some Drama where Psylocke broke the main entity’s heart in Paris (never take him to Paris), they all agreed to come back together and were reabsorbed into one being
Later, Fantomex was working with Remy due to the man owing him money. During this time their connection developed to sleeping together (this was plotted with Remy’s player & isn’t canon !)
When Remy was psychically called by Psylocke to London Fantomex went with him. He took part in the mission to the Astral Plane to stop the Shadow King, claiming he needed to ensure Remy survived to pay his debt
At the end of this mission, Fantomex chose to give his body to Charles, whose mind had been stuck on the Astral Plane for some time, claiming that in the Astral Plane he could live a life not dictated by the image of being a thief and a criminal, hopefully earning himself a clean slate in the process
For reasons unbeknownst to him, with Charles having moved to another body he’s been returned to this world and to his original body - and he’s not too happy about it
He’s trying to decide if he should move to Krakoa or just return to the life he knows - which he tried to step away from in the first place
Abilities ;;
E.V.A.: An autonomous picotoch entity manifesting his primary nervous system externally, with retractable landing legs, hovering and propulsion capabilities, morphing doorways, passenger room, and a machine consciousness. He can see through E.V.A.'s point of view and can take control of her movement. However, this requires extreme concentrations on the part of Fantomex. Moreover, E.V.A can fly "herself" and can generate bio-electric charges to be used as weapons. Fantomex is both telepathically and symbiotically linked to E.V.A. As a result, whenever E.V.A. is traumatized or injured, Fantomex experiences the same pain.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Fantomex boasted a healing factor of his own. But it paled in comparison to Logan's as he could not regenerate lost or destroyed bodily organs such as his face or heart.
Secondary Nervous System: Fantomex possesses a secondary, internal nervous system that he can activate to prevent negative feedback from E.V.A., but its functions are limited, allowing him to see only in black & white.
Enhanced Senses: Cluster boasts vastly augmented sensory range compared to the finest human specimen, with these attributes he could even sense the presence of the regularly misbegotten ForgetMeNot.
Healing Trance: can place himself in a trance-like state to recover from injuries. In this state he has been known to forcibly expel bullets and recover faster while placed in water.
Superhuman Agility
Enhanced Strength:
Inodorosity: His body doesn't create any scent, making it difficult for even the likes of Wolverine to track him.
Superhuman Durability: While separated, Fantomex feels no pain and seems able to ignore most injuries.
Misdirection: ability to 'misdirect' another person, including the use of illusions. Together, their combined consciousnesses can create extremely convincing illusions. It seems even powerful telepaths cannot truly tell if he is lying or not. This includes misdirecting someone's feelings.
Externalized Neuroweapons System: Fantomex recently showed he could eject E.V.A. as a ball of bio-electrostatic energy that can shock and immobilize enemy designates through the usage of her onboard picotech.
To Know ;;
Jean-Phillipe is not his real name - he doesn’t know what his real name is, he’ll either go by this or more commonly by Fantomex
Don’t call him JP - only Remy gets away with that right now
He is always wearing his mask. Always. Literally always unless I specify otherwise. Can’t have those pesky psychics in his mind. For this reason I will likely never use gifs because there’s no facial expression to see.
He speaks with a French accent (which i don’t know how to write) but aside from a few phrases here and there he does not speak French.
He speaks with a French accent purely to annoy people
