Kailor cocked his eyebrows further up at her question. He knew, of course, but that didnât mean he didnât like hearing it sometimes. It always made him reflect back at the start; there was undeniable attraction between them long before, of course, but it was that night, which changed everything. The night Kailor had no doubt Veritty would have thrown him out of her suite had she had the strenght. The night he wasnât going to give up without a fight though and he didnât. He still remembered how fragile and cold her body was next to his own and a sudden shiver travelled down his spine, bringing his mind to the present where his redheaded witch had rosy cheeks and devious sparks behind her eyes. And where the kitten had slowly started to purr on his chest. His expression softened as his mind traveled back to the night he refused to let go of her until the morning despite her protests. Triggered by her last words, perhaps. He didnât regret accepting the Instituteâs job offer neither. Heâd come looking for a job he loved, a job without the restrictions the outside world was trying to force upon him and his teaching methods. Yet he found something better. A meaning. He reached out, tugging a strand of hair behind her ear - not so much because it needed out of her face rather his own need to touch her, to feel her. âI love you, Veritty Cailloux.â Kailor sighed.Â
đ
When Kailor touched a strand of her hair, using it as an excuse to move it away, Veritty finally smiled - a cheeky, one-sided smile that meant to show she knew exactly the reason why he did that. "You're exceptionally romantic today," the redhead noted with a smirk, when in fact she was perfectly content to hearing him repeat that he loved her every day for the rest of their infinite lives. "I think that cat is slowly making you softer." Nodding towards the creature on his chest, a second hadn't even passed before hearing a disgruntled sniff coming from Silas' direction. She pretended not to hear it but both the white cat and her knew the truth. It was impossible to keep anything away from one another. "But since we are in the mood... I do love you too, Kailor Gray. With your weird obsessions and all."
i keep waiting for it to get easier
  but the memories still come
they still chase me back into the shadowsÂ
still keep me from trusting, believing, living⊠Â
i keep waiting for it to get easier
   but the fear still comesÂ
it still freezes me in placeÂ
still tells me not to risk
i keep waiting for it to get easier
why isnât it getting easier?Â

Familiar, ticklish sensation travelled through their bond and down his spine, leaving a pleasant aftertaste in his mouth as a somewhat cocky smirk formed on Kailorâs lips. âOh yeah?â The man teased her in return, going a step further by brushing the tip of his nose against one of the kittenâs ears. Not once losing sight of the witchâs face as he did so. Even itâs smell the different, he silently noted - the scent of musk imprinted onto its thick gray fur, the single sign of something ancient living underneath the tiny facade of the creature. He let the kitten curl back up on his chest before his eyes wandered away to meet Verittyâs. âNo,â the necromance admitted. Yet here we are. Verittyâs words echoed in his head in his own voice. âAnd you?â Kailor cocked his head to one side, getting an even better look at her face, so he wouldnât miss even the slightest change in her expression; if there was any at all. âDid you ever picture yourself engaged?â There was barely a moment before the professt took a sharp breath in, exhaling it almost immediately after, unable to hold back his smile for much longer. âOr⊠Even just as madly in love as we are with each other?â
đ
Her eyes returned to the book in front, trying to find the last sentence she had read before putting it down. Even if Veritty could feel Kailor's attention still hovering, eyes no doubt following her movements, for a moment the redhead pretended that this didn't make her want to grin back at him. Maintaining an almost too blank face, only after his last question did she finally look up. At least now her finger pointed to the last sentence, making sure she wouldn't lose the train of thought like had just happened. "Do you really need me to answer that?," the redhead smirked. "Or the second question? Come on. You already know the answers." And they were no and no. Of course she had never imagined herself being comfortable enough to share her space with another person and not only that but to do it permanently. Head shaking, Veritty made a low tsk sound. "Life has a tendency of laughing at our faces every once in a while. And if you live longer than normal, it happens even often. But for whatever's worth, I'm not mad that all of my choices had brought me here."
dcviilshâ:
A pair of devious flames burned inside his otherwise pitch black eyes while listening to her, an amused smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. âNo?â Kailor asked, arching his eyebrow at her but still playing along with her in this innocent game of teasing each other with words. The question itself was rhetorical, of course; they both knew that. The second time Kai lifted his eyebrow at her words, it was to express his genuine interest in what the witch was about to say. Dry yet slightly humorous scoff escaped his lips when for a split second they both looked at the white cat, his eyes lingering over its imperial posture and slight shimmer of its fur underneath the sunlight before the creature met his gaze, causing him to turn away and look back at Veritty. She was right, he was indeed overthinking it. Perhaps spending so much time figuring out how the human mind worked was finally taking a toll on him. âYouâre right,â Kailor sighed, resting his hand on hers. His thumb gently drawing a few circles over her skin before their fingers crossed and he pulled her hand to place a kiss on its back. âI guess I just never pictured myself in this situation.â His voice faded at the light, tingling sensation in his leg. âGuess I donât need a name after all,â he chuckled, scooping up the kitten and setting it between them.
đ
Veritty practically melted when Kailor kissed her hand - a gesture so simple, yet it felt electrifying, sending shivers up and down her spine. She knew that the man was able to feel what his actions were doing to her, no doubt it made him even more smug and V did not mind one bit. He had every reason to be smug about it - conquering her heart was a feat no one had been able to do for so many years. And here he was, not even immortal when she had met him. Well, Veritty had managed to change that and even if outwardly Kailor hadnât changed that much, the redhead could note that immortality suited him so well. Almost too well, she realized with dark amusement as her eyes followed him picking up the kitten. âNow, now, it seems like itâs my turn to be jealous...â, V shook her head with a grin on her features. Of course she didnât mind the little creature getting all the attention in the world, but it seemed suitable to tease him about it too. âIâm pretty sure you never pictured yourself engaged too, yet here we are...â Veritty nudged him softly before sprawling once again, almost like a cat herself. Taking and opening the book once more, the redhead smiled looking at him over the top of it.
dcviilshâ:
âWhat I did?â Kailor exclaimed, his voice rich of innocent playfulness. His dark eyes followed the kittenâs joyful trot, no doubt headed for the kitchen. âCorrect me if Iâm wrong,â he continued, shifting his gaze back to the witch, âbut werenât you the one to start teasing me in the first place?â Leaning further forward, enough to touch the tip of his nose with hers, Kailor kept his eyes on for a single moment before leaning back, exhaling. âIâm afraid he wonât listen to me either, despite being my familiar. You know very well how stubborn he can be.â Sometimes the professor even wondered whether its true form wasnât something else, something big and mighty to make up for the attitude the kitten had and showed despite its delicate size. It was nothing like the sort of magestic attitude Silas had. The gray furball was like a ball of spite acting in the purest childish style in order to get what it wanted and most time heâd always succeeded so far. âPlus, I think I need to name him first or at least figure out what its name is, so Iâll be able to call him. Otherwise, Iâm afraid I may call back the wrong kitten now.â
đ
âWho, me?!â, Veritty gasped, hand touching her collarbone before rolling her eyes. âThat seems very uncharacteristic of me. I do no such things...â Keeping the timid façade for a few seconds more, as it slowly melted away from her features, the redhead giggled slightly. Darting a quick look at the place where she last saw the small kitten strutting towards, her dark eyes then slowly moved back to Silas, then to the book she still had in hand. âYou want to know what I truly think?â, V asked, eyes scanning the content of the next page. âI think youâre starting to overthink this in trying to do the right thing. When in such circumstances there is no certainty about anything. If the creature chose to be here and with you, nothing can change that. Look at Silasâ, the woman nodded towards the snow white cat. âI feel like he hates us half the time yet here he is, not leaving. It wonât up and leave you if you happen to pick a name that doesnât suit it. Relax.â Veritty finally moved her gaze over at Kailor, hand reaching to massage his arm, trying to convince that man of hers to let go of his fears.

Merry Christmas Veritty
My sweetest Veritty,
Youâre the greatest gift a man can ask for & Iâm forever grateful we found each other in a moment when we least expect to find love (in a place where itâs least expected to happen too!).
You know me very well by now & how impossible it is for me to not use the opportunity of these holidays to spoil you again with gifts. I must say I really tried to keep it simple this year but⊠I failed.Â
The biggest gift I could ever offer to give you, you already have â you have my heart, my soul and my mind all to yourself. Forever and always.
But please accept these additional few boxes. Something to wear for our special date night tonight where I promise to cook my very special spaghetti with tomato sauce for you. Something to complement your first gift. And finally something to decorate your room with.Â
Iâll meet you in the dining room at 7 pm.
Merry Christmas, my love!

Playful smirk pulled at the corner of Kailorâs lips after her remark and his eyes drifted for a moment towards the kitten as it yawned and stretched before curling back into a perfect, small ball on his chest. âIâm not so sure I chose him,â the professor confessed, his eyes meeting Verittyâs once more, searching for an explanation there; the whole thing was still rather new and unfamiliar to him, especially considering heâd never thought heâd find himself in such position. Even after their trip to Sweden and Silas coming into their lives⊠well, Verittyâs life. At the mention of it, his dark gaze traveled towards the white cat, lounging under a spot of light as a true royal with his tail gracefully wagging back and forth. âI think itâs the other way around.â He couldnât help but wonder if thatâs how sheâd felt when sheâd found the white cat in the snow around their rented cabin. All animals seemed to have come into their lives the same way, circling around their home and chosing them as their family (even the fox whose freedom was left up to its own choice and still it always decided to come back to them in the end whenever it chose to roam for a bit in the wild), yet this was different. Nor Silas, nor⊠this kitten were pets. Though appearing as animals, they were different; they had far more distinguished personalities. Low vibrations traveled through him, startling the kitten, which jumped off of his chest, as the playful smirk grew into a light chuckle and Kailor leaned forward. âI like to biteâŠâ his lips teasingly brushed over hers as he spoke, â⊠you.â He whispered closer to her ear, as if to remind her of the way he may gently bite it sometimes before leaving a trail of light kisses to the arch of her neck. But right now all he did was touch the tip of his nose with hers, then leaned back again, meeting her eyes.
đ
Veritty did understand how all of this felt way different than if it was just another normal pet. People like them were rarely blessed with finding a thing, another creature, that meant to do a lot of things but one amongst others was to show that they werenât alone in this strange world of theirs. The redhead couldnât not ponder on the idea about how many times in her life she had needed to hear and feel such thing, yet it had evaded her, never really giving her what she needed... up until now, when finally feeling like putting down some roots of her own. And not to forget to mention, when she was finally understanding what it felt like to be truly happy with someone next to her. So V only nodded, showing that she did understood his way of thinking. âThat is true. But it was also your choice to accept him, so donât think you donât have a say in this.â Dark eyes darted once again towards Silas but even if he felt it, even if he understood that in a way this conversation was related to him also, he didnât show it at all. Typical Silas. Yet as the other kitten ran away from Kailor, Veritty couldnât help herself but sigh, shaking her head. âIâm well aware of that! But look what you did now...â, the redhead gasped, a big smile on her face as she leaned backwards a bit. âYou have to call him back now, you know he wonât listen to me. Heâs your familiar.â
I admire people who choose to smile after all the things theyâve been through.

special something | kai & veritty
@witchyveritty
âKailor suspected most people might think his favorite piece of furniture in his study was the desk; because he spent a lot of time at it during the school year both at home and in his classroom. And while the professor did find it his most inspiring place to be when he was working, his actual favorite piece of furniture at the study was actually the vintage leather couch in the center of the room where he preferred to read for the pure joy of it or study magic in a little more depth as of recently; where there was enough space for both of them and where Veritty could fit her whole petite frame, resting her head in his lap with a book in her hands, bringing a permanent hint of a smile lingering at the corner of his lips.Right now there was one more reason for his smile - the dark gray fur ball curled up on his chest after yet another display of its feisty character mere minutes ago. âDo you think he looks like me?â The necromancer asked just as a low thunder rolled in the distance, his dark eyes glazing over the stormy skies above the ocean before meeting Verittyâs.
đ
Lifting her head from the book in her hands, Verittyâs eyes almost immediately drifted towards the creature in question. Both of their faces were practically very close to one another so any possible connection seemed to be able to be noticed rather easily, yet still the redhead kept her mouth closed a moment too long, just observing. There was a very visible smile on her face that turned into a teasing grin as the time passed. âYou are both in gray todayâ, V mused, shrugging her shoulders, fingers touching the edges of the spine of the book still in her lap. âIâm not sure how much you can look alike but... I guess. Itâll make sense why you chose him.â Which begged the question, did Silas and Veritty had a lot in common too? At first glance the answer was no. The snow white cat now huddled in the lightest of corners of the room was so far away from the fiery look of the redhead, yet temperament wise? Now that was a different thing. âHe seems like he likes to bite you. Do you like to bite yourself, Kai?â, V asked, a chuckle escaping her lips.

girls are seriously not that demanding. sometimes all they really need from you is to slow dance with them in a moonlit room to a hauntingly beautiful melody
dcviilshâ:
Sheer, erotic amusement danced over his features, following her words. A plauful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips, as he watched her move closer in such elegant way that it was enough to take his breath away. âYouâre on my mind, too,â Kailor spoke softly, âevery second of every minute in every waking hour⊠and in my dreams when Iâm not wide awake.â His heart was now beating so slow that it was equally hard for him to breathe as it was while it was racing inside his chest and pressing against his lungs. So slow that it felt like itâs stopped beating at all. As if sensing her words before sheâs spoken them. The words, which touched a string inside of it, making it speed up again. It crashed against his ribs when she kissed him. The kiss⊠so hungry and demanding but also soft and intimate. Her presense so vivid all around him - her scent filling up his lungs, the warmth of her body pulling him into a soft embrace. A sigh mixed in with a low growl escaped his lips and drowned amidst the passion between them. His mind was drowning again in the drumming sound of his own heart, beating in his ears. His hands grabbed onto her for balance with fingertips leaving thin red marks on her bare back, which were gone within a heartbeat. Out of breath, Kailor pulled away from the kiss, his head falling to her shoulder. Pulling himself together, he placed a kiss over her shoulder, then one closer to curve of her neck before pulling back to look at her. To look at the gleam of red returning in her eyes⊠or perhaps it was never truly gone to begin with. âWhat if I told you that you already are there? Engraved onto my heart, coursing through my veins with each heartbeat, possessing every thought in my mind and owning your very own place in it as well. You.. Youâre a part of me, as I am of you, Veritty. You filled the emptiness I carried in me for such a long time. Youâre my family. My beautiful, gorgeous, breathtaking soon-to-be wifeâŠÂ The only one Iâd ever want to spend a whole eternity with, feeling like it would still not be enough. So how about we spend two? Maybe even three?âÂ
đ
Slowly, Veritty melted after every word that spilled from his mouth. The happiness that crept in, warming her in a new way from the inside out, wasn't like the scorching passion that ran through her a moment ago. No, this one was ever so soft but still strong, twisting around her in such a way, using the already formed bond between them as a way to strengthen everything that was already put in motion between them. The result of the potion and the bond were finally reaching its peak and it was unlike anything any of them had ever experienced before. At this moment she couldnât imagine how it would be possible for any of them to just go back to how things were before they experienced all of this. Probably it would take some time and Veritty found that quite funny - that with all of her thinking, she hadn't anticipated this. It still surprised her but it was the best kind of a surprise - the most naked one that had nothing to do with their bodies. And with that realization, her own head fell over Kailor's shoulder while she was still smiling, too speechless to try and form any words that might actually make any sense. But she still held on to him, one of her hands sneaking behind his back and nestling itself there. It was probably a strange thing, to stop in the middle of their passion and just hold each other but she didn't mind at all and was hoping that he didnât mind either. "I love you", Veritty whispered with her lips close to his naked skin, embracing him even more, until there was no telling where her body ended and his began.
