sharphistory:
“The only thing that really sucks about being a headmaster,” he sighed, “is not really being able to fire yourself.”
while it might not look it on the surface, artemis is more than confused. “american schools are peculiar. why would you set yourself on fire if you could?”
I cannot make you understand. I cannot make anyone understand what is happening inside me. I cannot even explain it to myself.

cfsunlight:
of all of the people she missed, it would be artemis whom she felt such feeling for the very most. her sister, her twin, a half of her. they balanced eachother out, in strange ways but varying degrees. she almost felt INCOMPLETE without her sister by her side. still, apollo doubted her sister would even hold the same face as the one she knew in her heart. all of them seemed to be taking up new faces nowadays. even apollo herself, a brand new face to which she loved.
setting sights on the girl, it took apollo only a moments notice to know whom it was. she’d recognize those fierce eyes belonging to her twin in a instant, just by the spark of them. “it’s been a great long time sis,” she greeted, smile besmirching her face. “or should i call you little sis?”

the sun is out and that little fact makes her eyes water. she’s not allergic to the sun or anything, she just misses the sun. her sun. everyone has their person. just one person that with one thought, one look, one whatever -- everything is better or everything crumbles. for artemis that person was apollo. it was always apollo. she knows it’ll always be apollo. her other half. the sun to her moon. artemis seems to appear as if she’d cry at the thought but man she missed apollo with everything in her newly restored existence. silly isn’t it?
how you could miss someone so much...
yet she had been avoiding her just like she had been avoiding the rest of them. it wasn’t apollo’s fault, it was just artemis’ need for quiet before their family destroyed what the word meant. she knows they’re not perfect but in the end she would always return home, return to apollo, no matter what happened. doesn’t matter if you were turned into a mortal and died, right? that’s family for you. eventually you always go home. seems bon jovi was right.
who says you can’t go home?
she knew this moment would come eventually. artemis just didn’t expect it to be the moment she slid down the rope connected to the makeshift of a treehouse she had made. eyes scanning to make sure no one is around but somehow, someway... apollo always knew. just like apollo always knew. how much can you really hide from the other half of yourself? artemis playfully wailed as if she had been busted playing hide and seek. “call me that and i cut all your hair off, sister.” but even with the threat she’s smiling. “apollo!”

“Blood to blood I summon thee. Blood to blood return to me.” Piper chants over the bowl of ingredients in front of her, adding her own blood from a pricked finger as she chants. She’s not sure who exactly she’s looking for. Her husband, her sister, her sons. At least she has her daughter, Melinda back, but she finds herself waking in the middle of the night, aching for the rest of her family. Piper won’t admit it but she’s just lonely. She doesn’t notice the figure in the doorway, watching her every move.
no, no, no! not again. she can feel herself slipping away. one minute she’s hunting california newts for their poison and the next she’s standing in someone’s doorway. blue eyes scanning the figure, she clears her throat after a moment of silence. “can i help you?”
pallasofathens:
“My most reliable sister,” Athena complimented as she pat her sister’s back, proud that at least someone was aware of the danger that was posed to them. They may be immensely powerful but they were not completely immortal. Even gods had their weaknesses and Athena didn’t want anyone getting ahold of those weaknesses. Individually, however, Athena wasn’t too worried about Artemis’ wellbeing because she was more than able to take care of herself. Although Artemis was a bit of a mess, Athena had to admit that she was probably her favourite sister. Athena may have been the goddess of wisdom but she was also the goddess of warfare. Artemis’ skill in hunting fit well with Athena’s own love for strategy and combat. The only difference was that Athena watched over humans hunting other humans.
“I may have a few ideas, though not anything solid yet,” Athena answered. At the end of the day, her powers were derived from her father so she couldn’t outmatch him when it came to raw strength. She looked through the window, up at the sky, wondering where he had went. Athena refused believe he was dead. While some of her other siblings had negative opinions about their father, Athena held him in the highest regard. She was born from him and he had always been proud of her. “Part of me doesn’t even know if I should try to break it,” she confessed. “Father has his reasons.”
reliable? call it boredom or the need to remove herself from the equation. she had started looking each time she went out for supplies and to hunt. the things she’s learned along the way would make a nun blush. it is nice though to have a moment without family at each other’s throats so she smiles back at the goddess. “it comes so naturally when you’re not the twin who stares up rather than forward.” a teasing remark but if someone else were to say such a thing about apollo, artemis would quite possibly end their lives where they stood. that’s how it went after all. even her siblings or even her father, in their case, their father. no matter what he’s done to them. fight each other but fight everyone else for each other.
artemis listens to her answer though it feels so... little compared to what she’s used to from the goddess. “he sealed our fate when he condemned us to die such silly mortal lives.” sent to the earth where they could freeze or starve as if they had never been gods at all. not just zeus but hades and poseidon as well. the big three -- the biggest crock of shit ever. these bodies of theirs revealed not everything they’ve lived through. the biggest lie yet. she looks like she’s seventeen if you squint but she’s far much older, and she knows there’s something missing. “yet i do not hate him.” artemis knows that she should after all of this, but she doesn’t. there’s still a straw of loyalty to the god in her existence. “but i want to go home. i want to see athens again. i hear it’s still beautiful in the spring.” she missed home most.

Athena was not much of a door knocker so the fact that she magically just appeared behind her sister shouldn’t have been a surprise. “What did you do to your hair?” she questioned, unsure of when Artemis had turned herself into a gorgon. As always, Athena’s gorgon necklace was attached to her neck and she could see no difference between the image stamped into metal and the head on Artemis’ shoulder.
She took a seat at the only non-chipped spot their was, slightly turned off by her sister’s chosen home. She was a goddess for Olympus’ sakes, if she wanted to live in the woods, couldn’t she have at least built a palace in it? Athena understood that Artemis loved nature and hunting but she didn’t have to live in squalor like some rednecked, hermit American. “Please tell me you’ve been doing more than your twin. I caught Apollo just staring at the stars the other night,” she stated.

it doesn’t surprise her. it doesn’t surprise her one bit to know that because she avoids her family that eventually they’d find her and it doesn’t surprise her that it’s athena popping up immediately on her figurative and literal radar. “sister,” she greets without sarcasm. that surprises her more. artemis had been avoiding everyone for a reason. her head tilts and she eyes random strands of hair and braids. “i made it manageable.” artemis declares and for a moment there’s a look of confusion on her features. she’s never been one for fancy things like gold palaces and the finest dresses. things like brushes weren’t high up on her list of things to be stolen when she needed things like tarps and planks of wood for her makeshift treehouse. hey, it’s not a palace but she built it herself. that counts for something. at least it does in artemis’ head. she wouldn’t expect her older sister to understand such a thing. their tastes varied almost on the drastic side of things.
the treehouse, as artemis would say, is just big enough for two people at most. a sleeping bag, a chair and her weapons. it’s not her bow and arrows but she made do.
artemis was more or less prepared for the judgement though it sparks humor in her expression to know apollo was staring at the stars when athena found her. that sounds like her sister. it’s not all that surprising because sometimes artemis found herself looking up at the sky and watching the clouds circle the sun. this world moved on without them but for her at least, all signs pointed back to her family no matter how hard she tried to avoid them. “i have been preparing.” perhaps not athena’s level but hey, artemis isn’t the goddess of wisdom and war. “i’ve found the nooks and crannies.” weak spots, potentially. all the while avoiding everyone not just her family. “it seems that without father,” who it seems is dead, “the barrier cannot be brought down but i’m going to bet that you have a few ideas in the matter.” hence being the goddess of wisdom. she was born from zeus’ forehead. if anyone could figure something out it had to be athena whom would surely take zeus’ place while he’s gone. it seems fitting and you’d think artemis is judging but she’s not. once upon a time she actually respected athena more than most would.

He wasn’t G O O D at this, at being smart or the one to figure out a situation. If anything he just usually saw the bluntness of things and went off trying to help with what he knew. So when that wasn’t clear and everything seemed to be on him to figure it out, he just went back to remembering what he knew..even if that was just his mom. The way she CARED and the way she managed and she wasn’t even half of the world. “Uhm, we can talk if you want?…-I mean I talk a lot and it kinda helps but I also get that sometimes that doesn’t help. So i’ll give you what you need.” He almost insisted with his usual innocent warmth. “Just tell me…show me…I don’t know.”
she’s angry again. fuming. if she was anymore animated she’d have smoke blowing out of her ears. she wants revenge if it gives her safety yet there’s still a nagging voice that screams in her head just go home. not to some park but to the family she’s been avoiding and knows is all around her. she’d say she’s pleased to be back but she’s not. man, she’s just so fucking angry she could explode -- just enough to kick the nearest object and let out a frustrated half scream. “you’re failing at this whole,” she has to think for a moment, “therapy thing.” that’s a thing right? catching up on these times seems to be the hardest. telephones and t.v.s? clothing like pants and tennis shoes? cars? they were monsters and she had already been half hit by two in her short time of being alive and not well again. you could say life isn’t going so well for her. her anger wasn’t helping.
