Jay blinked several times at the other’s answer. The male was curious as to what the other’s ability was. Before he could answer his attention was stolen by the janitor cleaning the mess on the floor. He quickly apologized “I’m sorry. Some douche sort of knocked out of my hand.” The janitor just nodded and continued on to his business. A small smile appeared on his face as his attention returned to the stranger.

"Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks for asking." He offered a warm smile to the other. Then the other bow and Jay became confused. That was it? Nothing more? He pouted a bit as he watched the other gracefully go about his business. A tug at his mouth as he thought about what to do next. Should he tag along with the other or mind his own business. But.. there was no business to mind so he decided on the former.

"Hey!"

The phoenix caught up to the other walking beside him “Are you doing anything right now? Do you have some time you can spend with me?” He asked innocently. The cool male gave off such a strange vibe that sort of pulled Jay to him. “I promise it will be fun!” Well he can try to make it so.

to say he was welcoming of company would’ve been a blatant lie. it’s with finely concealed aversion that he picks up the call, turning to glance over his shoulder—for the sake of being polite—with a tilt of his head, “yes?” his fingers curl into his pockets, the corners of his lips slightly downturned. what about him said that he wanted to be around anyone? did he have a sign taped to his back? sorely tempted to reach back and check, it’s the simple reminder that the only person who’d pranked him is long gone that he stops.

damn, he missed her.

“i was headed somewhere, yes.” myungsoo answers simply, gaze flicking to the hall ahead as he continues walking; pace leisurely for the most part. his attention shifts idly from those he passes to the shorter male at his side, wondering at just what it was that he was being invited to—and why he should want to partake in it with a complete stranger.

“i wouldn’t suggest making a promise like that.”

without being wholly prepared, mentally and emotionally, naeun finds herself more than a little caught off guard by the sight presented to her once the door to room 802 opened. skin. skin. skin. skin. skin.

the gods are on her side tonight.

naeun makes sure to take a good long look—to burn the memory of exposed skin into her mind—before finally turning her attention up to the male’s face, tongue flicking out over her lower lip absently as she grins.

“now you’re just fucking with me.” the mutant releases some sort of chortle, decidedly holding up the phone before her priorities shift completely as she waves the electronic before him. “you left your phone back there, o’revealing x-men.” the teasing lilt in her voice is hard to ignore even as she shifts to offer him the phone, eyes twinkling impishly as she leans her head to the side slightly.

“you should give me something in reward for dragging my ass all the way up here to return it.” as per usual she’s bold, even more impulsive with the influence of alcohol, as she takes a decisive step forward, eyes lowering to the dip in his collarbones before honing in on the expanse of his chest.

“a drink or something…” her lips curve coyly though her words are anything but, “another chance to touch that ass works too.”

she makes it easy to think of all the wrong things.

“fucking with you?” myungsoo repeats quietly, as if puzzled, fingers tapping against the doorframe in an idle rhythm; filling the silence that follows as his gazes from her face to the phone, lips quirking in an absent sort of way as he takes note of her teasing. revealing? on any other day, he might’ve cared; might’ve dipped his head in some semblance of apology before covering himself, but this time, he merely reaches out and plucks the device from her fingertips. “thank you for bringing it up to me.”

why would he worry about covering himself when she liked what she saw? though yes, the characteristic stab of self-consciousness is one that keeps him quiet, myungsoo focuses instead on the subtle warmth flowing through his body—heat that whispers encouragements in his ear, to invite her in. “how’d you know where my room was…?”

with that, he takes a step back and opens the door enough for her to step inside. his attention fixated, myungsoo hums almost to himself and crosses to the nightstand where his newfound stash sits. a glance over his shoulder reveals the rather obvious direction of her gaze and this time, his smile produces dimples in his cheeks. she's shameless.

“… is that your thing? touching asses?”

{ ` he makes no waste in his trek back into that bloody room. the moment that naeun is settled, assured that he’ll retrieve her brother, he’s off. his footsteps—far more confident of his surroundings—echo through the halls, fingers twitching at his sides as he makes a direct path back. the sounds of battle grow louder; thundering, grinding metallic noises that grate on his eardrums, but he ignores it and steps back inside. already, the male he’d had in mind is being helped to the door—he gives tempest a grateful smile and turns his attention to looking over the increasingly empty room. } … { ` she’s tucked so far into a corner that he almost misses her, lying in a pool of what he can only guess is her own blood. myungsoo crosses the distance quickly, reaching out to touch upon her shoulder—to wake her, “hey, we’re here to get out of here.”—but the words fall flat on his tongue.

his heart gives a strong, painful thump.

he blinks—more than a few times—to try and clear the image from his mind. now wasn’t the time to be suffering delusions, but another look; another nudge of her shoulder to roll her gently onto her back, reveals the truth of what his eyes are telling him. } ji-jiyeon? { ` myungsoo doesn’t think he could help it if he tried; the strange and potent mixture of confusion, pain and anger that takes hold of him.

his job is simple. or at least, myungsoo likes to think so, when compared with the others who are fighting for their lives; their sanities. he’s long lost his, in the most basic manner of speaking. what sane man attached himself to people when he was afraid of them? or loved those he knew could never return the sentiment? though now, he supposes that he’s reached the peak of his irrationality, lurking around darkened corners and hoping for a glimpse of a person that could hold their own in battle against the likes of xavier and magneto.

not many x-men could manage that on a perfect day.

he doesn’t dare breathe too loudly. his hands remain at his sides, carefully relaxed—his earpiece provides little information other than a reminder to be careful. be careful, kim myungsoo. he can almost certainly recall with ease just how often plague had told him that, over the course of their years together.

❄ fallout ,

air. it’s the only thing that myungsoo forces himself to take in as he makes a steady pace through brightly lit hallways. bodies line the walls, a damning obstacle when he finds himself dodging the attentions of a single soldier in the base that remains awake. the only indication of her nearing presence is soft laughter; it takes effort to remember the task at hand.

not to try and exact some measure of justice.

instead, he makes his way around her path quietly, waiting for the moment when she’s inevitably drawn to the distraction that magneto and xavier themselves are making—at the risk of their own lives. they can’t fail this mission. they can’t afford to.

in the scheme of things, his focus remains fixed both ahead and back; on the battle taking place just outside—the floors rattle beneath his feet—and what he’ll find ahead. steely blue eyes flick over a sign—‘holding cells’—and he makes a quick left, coming to a run the moment he smells blood on the air. there it hangs like a fog, filling his lungs with every inhale.

the room is made of glass. or at least it appears to be, given that he can see directly inside. they’re sprawled across the floor, though enough spaces are empty that he’s aware at least one of his partners has already passed through.

soojung, jinri and lu han are already gone.

the thought brings him relief, even as he steps inside the room and attempts to gauge the worst wounds versus the easiest to move. his priorities are decided by time his gaze lands on son naeun, hovering over a prone male—her legs are bent at odd angles, bleeding onto the strangely warm tiles beneath his feet. the entire room feels hot; humid and stifling.

“naeun, we need to go.” he speaks gently, moving to place a hand on her lower back as he kneels.

he needs to come back for the others.

{ * he regards the item in his arms with care, lips down-turned as he makes his way toward the headmaster's office — though jaehun easily spots another x-men member nearby, one he knows by name more than anything as he pivots on his heel to head toward him } myungsoo-sshi, i— { * how does one even word this } i got this from jeongguk—it's what they all headed out to retrieve yesterday. { ` he pauses, honestly struggling with finding the words } it's celena ahn's head.

{ ` there were a number of reasons that he'd been unable to take part in the pro-mutant rally (and the mission he'd learned about sometime during the day before)--the state of the country at large was in upheaval, leaving myungsoo stretched thin between cities--but it's the first time that he's regretted his work. panic runs thick in his blood, but it's with a cold calm that he travels the halls and prepares to meet with the others in a common room. it's with mild curiosity that he regards the male and the bundle that he presents--and it's with pain that he realizes what it is, and why the odor wafting from beneath the fabric is so vaguely familiar. it's death. } i'll make sure it goes where it needs to be. { ` he murmurs simply, accepting the eerily light weight--careful in his grasp--before cooling it. with that, he thanks the man quietly and returns to his room, where he pulls away the fabric (familiar with the sweater itself in an absent way) and sets about layering the pale, thin skin in a layer of ice. myungsoo remains forcefully ignorant to the strangely warm tears trailing down his cheeks }

Summer, summer, summer. How he hated summer. It had been far too hot lately for anyone to be comfortable, and with a power like his, all that excess heat meant a need for cold— any kind of cold. If not, well… pretty much everything would fall prey to his abilities. Doors, beds, desks— he was sure that he’d melted the school’s front entrance about four times already. He wasn’t really all that keen on heading out today, but the promise of smoothies proved to be far too much of a temptation.

See, smoothies are cold, and sweet. Jimin really, really liked cold and sweet things. He had been waiting behind some guy that took a million and one years to order his drink, and finally, he had gotten himself to the front, his cheerful voice piping out his order, “One peach mango banana, please!”

As he reached into his pocket to grab his wallet though, of course, he paused.

He was sweating. Uh-oh.

The last thing he wanted to do would be to melt his wallet (again), and leave the smoothie stand empty-handed. His eyebrows furrowed just a bit, much to the disinterest of the student behind the stand— the one who clearly had no interest in waiting.

"Hey— I swear I can pay uh— uh—" With quick thinking, he glanced around the area, eyes locking on the guy-who-took-a-million-and-one-years-to-pick-his-drink dude, tapping him on the side of the arm. "Hey uh— can you get my wallet out of my pants?"

… Well, it probably wasn’t the weirdest thing he’d ever asked.

His power doesn’t exactly lend to standing for long moments in the sun, but Myungsoo doesn’t quite mind it as much once he has his drink. He loiters around the stand and watches the people enjoying their drinks; watches the change gleam in the tip jaw until his shoulder is tapped and two things happen. First, the air around him cools, humidity turning quickly for the other end of the spectrum in a purely instinctual reaction to unexpected contact; and second, a shot of cold—a zap, really—travels from his skin to that of the male touching him.

Though the equivalent of a cold pinch, he immediately turns to regard him once he speaks, apologetic and confused.

Ah, there was a reason.

While his attention falls to the male’s pocket, he seriously thinks about it—the act of initiating contact with this person that he doesn’t know—before giving a mental shrug (it was helping, right? No big deal.) and reaching into his back pocket to tug his wallet out. Clasping it, he holds it out for the man to take—

“Here.”

And with that good deed done, he takes a sip of his drink.

Jay was pissed. He really wanted to finish off that milkshake. The sweet taste remained strong in his mouth, making him even more mad about the whole situation. A heavy sigh escaped his lips as he attempted to calm himself down before making a rash decision of running after the skateboarder and done something he might have regretted later. He pinched the bridge of his nose and placed a hand on his hip. “It’s just a milkshake… Let it go..” He’s tone had a hint of laughter in it.

After a few seconds—- “Whatever I’m over it!” He chuckled.

That’s when he began to notice the change in temperature. He straightened himself.  ”Wow.. is it me.. or did the temperature change a bit?” He tilted his head then shrugged. He turned around to continue on his way and ended up bumping into the individual he had avoided colliding with in the beginning. He quickly retreated a few steps and bowed. “I’m sooo sorry! I totally forgot!” His face couldn’t get any more apologetic. How careless are you Jay! He thought to himself as he straightened himself once more.

Upon further inspection of the other’s face he noticed his eyes. They were beautiful. He started at them for a couple of seconds. Which made him come to a realization.

"Perhaps.. Are you responsible for this mild drop in temperature?"

Was there something wrong with him? Myungsoo wouldn’t be rude, but the thought occurred soon after watching the male stumble around in what appeared to be a circle, speaking to himself the entire time. Head tilted, he watched absently as the janitor set about cleaning up the spilled milkshake without saying a word—only to tense at the second un-welcome touch within the span of a couple minutes. Brows furrowing, the ice manipulator stared down at the man silently, cool-headed in the single step he took backward while the other took a few, “Yes.”

It was civil to answer his question, even if his mood was seeing a turn for the worse with the attention turned his way. He didn’t enjoy it—if anything, he wanted to be on his way before his original intention in leaving the solitude of his room was lost. “You’re not hurt, are you?” His hand lifted to rub the back of his neck, fingertips brushing over cool skin while he contemplated stepping around the other—“If not…” He could be on his way.

What a relieving thought.

With a short bow of his head, Myungsoo drifted into his next step; moving with a strange, cold grace. “I’m sorry about your drink.”

He didn’t like the glance — and he wasn’t sure why. Maybe the fact that he was always so unimportant. Maybe a passing glance was a stupid reason to feel upset. He shrugs it off, turning to face the male and watch him drink. Rougue’s own tequila remains untouched for only a moment, then he drains it, past the sweet juice at the top and down to the bitter drink he wanted. It burns his throat and correlates an over-exaggerated hiss of breath at it’s departure down his esophagus.

He wants more; but he’s broke. It was awfully hard to get sloshed without any money. He ignores the tormented drunk beside him for a moment, then glances at him. He seemed to have plenty of it, with as much as he was drinking. Rougue turns to face him and scoots only a little closer: “Hey, hyung, buy me a drink,” he tries to look cute, but looks a little bit like a sloppy puppy without manners, eyes big and his lower lip poking out too far.

He isn’t paying much attention to his surroundings. Nothing more than what a cursory glance around him will allow at the very least—his fingers twitch upon catching the telltale squeak of the door hinges as someone else enters the small bar. The place is already populated enough that Myungsoo finds himself trying to tune out the din of voices in the background; another entrant increases the edge, placing the x-men member in the dilemma of choosing between his next drink and the peace of solitude.

Social pleasantries were beyond him, particularly with strangers.

It’s with this very thought in mind that he realizes the youth is speaking to him. Sparing him a look, Myungsoo contemplates his request for a moment—his expression; some strange mixture of aegyo and alcohol-fueled desperation—before beckoning the ahjumma over with a silent wave of his hand. He can’t blame him either way, given the state of the city—a ruin of the place that it used to be, vagrants wandered the streets in search of anything that could serve as a distraction.

Or pay for one.

Maybe he wasn’t any different. Though Myungsoo hardly cares, drawing his lower lip between his teeth before he addresses the expectant look the woman throws him. “His next two drinks are on me.”
