to say that mark had his fair share of scars and wounds from training and battles ( training, but with other mutant students against him – usually ending with good results, sometimes not, however, all of these encounters ended with a positive outcome, the fact that mark was getting stronger, physically and battle wise )
however, when it came to psychological wounds, mark lacked them – in fact, he had been wiped clean of any wounds that once scarred his memory, all thanks to his adoptive parents. but this didn’t necessarily work against mark, as normally, he wasn’t the type to get over something.
long story short, the reason why mark was so stable here and now, at xavier’s institute for gifted youngsters, was thanks to the fact that his parents had oh so graciously wiped his memory clean through brainwashing – cruel, yes, but it worked.
so there mark tuan was, one hand’s knuckles practically white after holding molang’s leash handle so hard to make sure that the dog didn’t claw its way into mai’s room (molang was excited, as expected, as he liked, no, loved mai’s company), other hand holding his phone, spacing out –
before his phone buzzed again, surprising the advanced-ranked student and causing him to drop his phone (and swoop down and pluck it out of thin air before it had the chance to touch down, bless his reflexes). when he finally has his phone in his hand again, this time around, safely, he reads mai’s first few messages –
with his browed furrowed (‘if she’s fine then why isn’t she out already’ he thinks before receiving the next message
and at that, he blinks, wondering why, if she’s so ok, why she’s not ready to go out with him –
but those thoughts are pushed aside; the fact that mai is actually going out with him after a ‘thing’ that had happened was good, maybe a positive change that was needed in mai’s life (mark wouldn’t know though, he wouldn’t guess what she had gone through).
so he replies to her message.
(txt) kk, see you down at the entrance of the hedge maze.
with that, he starts walking, molang soon in tow, knuckles now fading back to their original color, phone now in his pocket.
now waiting, patiently, outside of the hedge maze for his partner.
