who ever said that loving another human being was an easy thing? because that person was clearly mad. driven insane out in the desert with the sun to melt their minds, and salt water to drive their senses crazy. for ken it was his only weakness - it made his straight forward, genius mind a scrambled mess of road kill and in the midst of monsters and the thick putrid stench of blood and danger - he could only think of mina. mina, where the hell was she? lee jaehwan you will find her and protect her. he'd managed to escape - only after that burning sensation had riddled him and those monsters had rattled his bones with fear. but that word - fortitude, was no joke after all. because now that he was set on finding mina, his adrenaline was pumping and his heart was about to rip its way through his ribs from in between his lungs. class six, that's where he hoped she would be - untouched and safe - he hoped. his stomach turned a little at the thought that maybe she'd... ken couldn't think that way. he reached up to brush a hand through his dark hair while the gears in his brain were rebooted to work an analysis of what to do. people had powers now, and so did he. he could fight and find a way out of here. ok - ken. you're going to find the girl, and fight the monsters, then get the fuck out of there. man, if this wasn't a video game then he didn't know what the hell it was. with that objective set in his mind he turned on his heel, ignoring the way it slipped in blood - someone or something's blood. instead he focused on running in the direction of class six - praying to god that girl was there. the apple of his eye and the core of his scrambled mind.

in which hayi decides not to go with mina whenever it’s a short trip to the nearby sweets shop.

hayi’s voice was choppy yet recognizable against the static — “mina, no, come back for me, you can’t leave me here alone!” she drops her phone as the other cuts the call, a disheartened look on her face.

"now that you’ve made a call, miss lee, can we interrogate you now?" the police officer’s brow was raised, and hayi sighs, "alright. but i’m innocent, so make it quick."

the questioning was quick as expected, and hayi’s ability was a great help — knowing the innocent answer to each of his questions was the key to this rotten office.

"mina, i hate you right now."

"in my defense, i had absolutely no idea that those candies weren’t free."

"you have the right to remain silent."

mina only laughs, “sorry.”

hayi sighs. “accepted. do i even have a choice?”

the smaller girl answers herself — “we always have a multitude of choices. it depends on us, however, which to pick. and i, lee hayi, pick you to be my friend. one rule, though: no more trips to that shop.”

"aww. okay."

too bad they were rulebreakers at heart.

Jimin didn’t remember ever speaking to Kwon Mina. Sure, they were about the same age, had the same last names and there were probably more mundane things they had in common but — nothing. The institute was a big place. It was like high school really, some paths end up not diverging at all.

Or they could.. during unpleasant circumstances. Like now really. 

It had been a joke really, one of those careless comments he threw out when he wanted to be particularly scathing for no apparent reason. He’d given up trying to understand his mood swings after he passed out in his room a few hours ago. His body ached, his temples were throbbing and he was hungry. Of course he had to go pick a fight when he had already been feeling crappy.

"I don’t care.." Jimin tried not to sigh at the barb in her voice, trying to keep his poker face on. He wasn’t going to show any weakness. "You don’t say things like that, no matter how awful your mood is."

His first instinct was to turn away and just go back upstairs but she was still talking. “Oh, so you’re going to run away? Go back up. What kind of guy just leaves without a word? Are you that scared?”

Now Jimin definitely felt his temper snap. “So what if I said something? You don’t know me at all so it’s none of your damn business.”

They stood at opposite ends of the kitchen, glaring at each other and daring the other to back down. They might have stayed there the whole night if somebody hadn’t come down for a midnight snack as well, frightened at the two mutants sending murderous glances at each other. 

Jimin was the first to break eye contact, turning away to head back to bed. “Whatever. I’m not hungry anymore.”

Of all the people he had met, he was sure that Kwon Mina was the most infuriating.

hi! just wondering, will new members be given some leeway for activity checks at first ( e.g. exempt from ac for the first week they're here ) to allow them to settle in and get plotting started, etc.? especially if they're accepted late in the week / near the time for the ac.

I don't see why not ! We all need that extra time to get settled in, and this is how we've operated thus far. :D

A silent library was an idea of fantasy and during the mid-afternoon books made companions with papers that rustled, graphite on parchment, and voices which ranted until vocal cords were worn thin. Less than twenty four hours ago a plan was made for study, the two intermediate students making a pact to polish scientific intelligence to ensure that the two of them would pass with flying, vibrant colors. In preparation he had collected publications on evolutionary biology and printed esteemed essays for the occasion, and he rolled sleeves of a plaid button up after ten minutes before decorated his notebook with ideas imperative for conquering any examination of genetic understanding. The vicinity followed suit; the hub of research abiding by laws of whispers, and for anarchy to arrive, a measly five minutes had to pass.

“Thranduil wasn’t just a braid child Tolkien summoned out of his desire to have some pretty blonde thing waltzing around and fucking up the dwarves’ good day.” The intention of their rendezvous had been well, howbeit, his nose currently crinkled as he indulged in a speech, destroying harmony and divulging into a fictional universe. “The man had an intense infatuation with mythology and various writers. I’m not saying that he wasn’t a clever man or that he didn’t create novels of literary mastery – one ring to rule them all and whatnot – but he wasn’t exactly busting out new rhymes.” Byunghun criticized not with scorn, and his words were not tailored to scathe, but the fire respired smoke and in meditation he burned, arms crossed and eyes narrowed to each innocent passerby. May the fools be branded with vexation for shameless worship witnessed in online chatrooms, and for the umpteenth time his phone was sent a glower from Hell, invigorated by mindless babble of so-called fans and their fawn-like grace.

The device was banished, set on the table screen down, and gaze torn he looked to the girl accompanying him, a certain individual of long hair who was verified to make good company for the majority of their spontaneous friendship. Sure there were days the words Mina said made him want to catapult himself out the window and force him to lose all faith in humanity, nonetheless, nothing she could utter would measure up to chatroom levels of idiocy. “Do people just watch Desolation of Smaug and decide themselves to be experts on The Hobbit? Is that how it works these days? Seriously, if I missed like, a memo, or a courier pigeon, please tell me because I’m dying to hear how these film enthusiasts would prefer the story to be written.” The complaints persisted to assume the place of education, and promptly, he all but collapsed, giving his forehead a decent beating by letting it collide with an obese textbook on biology – all because of a few punks behind a computer screen – and furthermore, he murmured the last words;

“I’m done. Mina, if they speak again, kill me. Just kill me.”

An Idiot's Facade || Hyunseung & Mina

Act natural; they’ll never know it’s you and not him. Clearing his throat as he strolled down the corridor toward Xavier’s office, he received a few strange looks from the teacher’s that knew Xavier well enough to know that something wasn’t right, but they didn’t say anything, perhaps they assumed that Xavier wasn’t feeling himself today. Hyunseung nodded at a few teachers respectfully, giving the occasional smile to students roaming the halls, trying to create the façade that he was in fact Xavier and not some prankster trying to get a few cheap laughs. Hesitantly peering into Xavier’s office, Hyunseung sighed in relief when he saw no one sitting at the large, oak desk sat in the centre of the room. He was free to do as he pleased. Chuckling quietly to himself, he wondered round to sit at the desk and kicked his feet up on to the table; his muddy shoes dirtying a few stray papers. So this is how it feels to be head of the school, he thought. I think I could get used to this. Smiling proudly to himself as he looked around the room for a gimmick or two that he could pull off, he saw a microphone sat on the desk- the one that Xavier used to make announcements to the entire school. Now there was an opportunity he couldn’t miss. Tapping his chin in thought as he tried to find something to say, Hyunseung leant forward, pulling the microphone to himself. “Hello, school, this is I, Xavier. I have two announcements for your wonderful ears to hear today. First of all, I like to do the cha-cha with Magneto to Carly-Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’ while you’re all tucked up in bed. Secondly, school is cancelled for the rest of the day- you may all go out to Busan to do whatever the fuck you want. Have fun, my children!” He laughed as he turned off the microphone, spinning around in the comfy swivel chair that Xavier unfairly kept to himself. “I need one of these.” Hopping out of the chair, Hyunseung smiled, shoving his hands in his pockets as he leisurely strolled out of the room. What he didn’t need was a few teachers to be running down the corridor in his direction, although, if he thought about it, he had just broadcasted to the entire school, so what could he expect? Grimacing, he picked up his pace and began running in the opposite direction, taking every opportunity he could to get the teachers off his trail. As he rounded a corner he ran straight into a student, nearly knocking them both off their feet. Looking at her with alarm, he coughed, flicking a stray bit of hair from his eyes. This was the opportunity he needed- this girl would be his get away. “Hello there, student. I’m going to do a room check of both dorms- starting with yours. Please lead the way to your room; I’m in a bit of a hurry.”
