Brimoncourt Brut Regence
Pale honey coloured, with gold green flecks in the glass, I detect butter and pop corn on the nose of this Brimoncourt Brut Regence NV Champagne. This is followed by a green sappy scent with some orchids, white flowers and cherry woven in.
On the palate, I love that special something crisp and subtle which ever so lightly fills my mouth. Clean, pure and fresh as is, the Brimoncourt house style, I am immediately stopped still by this delicious wine.
With only 8g of sugar per litre - featuring 80% Chardonnay and 20% pinot noir it is not like a typical NV. It is lovey and dry. There is not that same fleshy or toasty quality you find on most commercial NV’s. The Brimoncourt Brut Regence is much more lean, lemony and refreshing to drink.
There is however a nice toasty finish which would make it quite perfect for drinking on a hot afternoon after playing a game of tennis, or perfect as an aperitif ‘sur la terrace’.
You could drink this alone by itself, or pair it with shellfish, oysters or white fish.
Not too vinous, not too cloying, look out for the box for this Champagne which has a giraffe on its label. Why? Because the house is little bit kooky and the giraffe is the one animal that never drinks alone!
