Out of focus and behind frail feathertips,

An amber light gently mellows crisp edges.

Fluorescence escapes from under soft fringes-

Bestowing a halo upon the angels

Dirty doves cradled by cumulus cotton–

Ask the world for pity and solitude.

The greed split amidst them terribly wanton.

Egregious work for a harmonious tune.

Gracefully dancing betwixt their ruffled feathers–

A resigned hope, desperate for ascension, takes flight.

One single chain joining their necks left to sever.

Holy union calls angels to fall from their height.

Two open hearts; both sorry fools left bleeding.

Love for a winged creature is found fleeting.

I wonder how ugly I can get.

I want to mess this body up.

Plaster it on walls.

Billboards and albums.

How ugly can I get?

When will you finally tell me the words?

You reject me.

What is the difference between my body and others’?

The female form is only pretty tied up and controlled.

The appearance of it.

Because once you control it, it no longer excites you.

Untamed minx.

Lovely and pink.

Unexposed, but leaking out of a constrictive ribbon.

Wrapped and pretty like a bow.

Oh, how I wish to wrap myself up again.

To give my tangled body form.

Can I give myself the freedom to love a stained oath?

To accept all of the knots just underneath my skin.

Can I control myself from scratching them open?

I bear witness.

Those kind, sweet eyes.

And a kiss to all of my wounds.

Gentle caresses along the lines of my uneven seams.

Can I be satisfied with just a moment?

Moments that will never be mine.

So lovely. by aethr𐀔 I don’t think I’ve ever met someone more inconsiderate and selfish in my life.  Someone who is so convinced they’re a good person they’re able to convince other people they won’t destroy their lives. Liars who can lie so well you would never know the person they showed to other people. Serving irony while feigning ignorance. Someone who can live lives while destroying every single one of them for a moment of bliss. A creekless minnow. A warmthless burning fire. A loveless cupid. A sinning saint. Lovely is the girl he holds in his mind. She isn’t real. Maybe once, but never again. So lovely he calls after her.  Because he doesn’t know her name.  aethr𐀔

I am a regular at a place. 

A dreary, dirty place.

Shrouded in gray. Heartbreak. Across a lake. Without a wake.

Seemingly, not awake. 

I am not awake.

Not here.

Soap on top of moping.

Bettering before settling. 

No soul.

No sound.

No love.

Only proud,

Standing still in a lull. 

Give me my room:

Blood under fingernails. Polish under fingernails. Paint under fingernails. Blood, polish, paint. Paint, blood, polish. Polish, blood, pain.

How is the blood from my neck different from the blood from my nest? They already know from the bleach stains on fabric -and the hip pains -and the face paint.

Late-night cravings, I eat nail shavings after desperate and fruitless saving.

I can't think of one. I know when I'm supposed to be happy, and I try my best to not dampen anyone's mood. Pleasant. That's the best I can manage.

Pleasant like a quietly wilting lily in the corner; a slight sweet smell signaling the nearing of my departure. I seem to be swallowed by the ephemeral nature of spring: pretty, warm, and brief.
