Asama House, completed in 2000 in Karuizawa, is a small mountain residence that responds closely to its forested surroundings and views toward Mount Asama. Unlike the firm's dense urban Tokyo projects, the house explores openness, landscape, and seasonal living within a rural context.

The design uses a sharply pitched roof and warm timber interiors to create a sense of shelter while framing light and views of the surrounding nature. Asama House reflects Atelier Bow-Wow's interest in architecture shaped by site-specific behavior and atmosphere, balancing compact living with a strong connection to the environment.
