After being cooped up for about a week, I dragged Andrew out to have dinner out in Shangri-la Mall. It took me a while to decide where I want to go because there were so many things I want to eat—ramen, pizza, cake, pasta, and fried chicken—but I knew I didn’t want to eat at our usual restaurant choices.
After much deliberation, I decided on Kettle, located at the 5th floor of Shang’s east wing. For starters, we ordered the crispy pork with fresh potato strips (1st photo). It’s a giant mound of crunchy potato goodness sprinkled with cheese and herbs! The slightly tangy aioli sauce, which I initially thought was thousand island dressing, really enhances the overall taste of the dish.
Okay, I have to confess, the buttermilk fried chicken with honey-glazed cornbread, that humongous thing in the 2nd picture was my order. Andrew ordered a half-pounder angus burger with steak fries. To my credit, I didn’t finish the whole serving. I had the 2nd piece wrapped up for my son. Did I like the chicken? Honestly, I think it needs a bit of seasoning. I like the fact that the skin was crunchy but it lacks flavor. If not for the gravy and the cajun-spiced honey, it would’ve been bland. The cornbread, I have to say, was pretty good. So good that I ordered some to take home. Oh and because I have low EQ when it comes to food, I also ordered Mac and Four Cheese for takeout because I saw the diners in the next table eating it. Teehee. Overall, I’d say it was a nice dining experience. The food was good and the service was excellent. Would I go back? Yes. Would I recommend this restaurant? Yes.
