Tips on Grimoire Organization
Please note that if you are using a hard bound notebook or journal, adding in additional pages will bulk up your book, like so: (these are the exact same journals, btw)
- Envelopes. Letās say youāre doing a section on Tarot in your Grimoire, and you want to include a few Tarot spreads, but you donāt want to waste two or three pages. Glue an envelope onto one of your pages to make a āpocketā where you can store little cards or papers with the tarot spreads written on them.
- Pockets. Similar to the envelope idea. If you have a page, or section for example, on herbal teas, you can make a pocket out of a piece of paper to keep your current favorite tea recipes in.
- Dividers, Cover Pages and Ribbons. If youāre like me and you like to have āsectionsā in your grimoire, you can easily make dividers by gluing a sheet of paper in your book (to make it heavier to make the sections stand out more). You can go further by turning your divider into a cover page for that section. And if you donāt like the idea doing that, you can always glue a ribbon, or a string, to the spine of your book to act as a bookmark.
- Double pages. I always had a problem with āwastingā pages in my grimoire. For example, my page on consecrating and charging. These two concepts are very similar to me, and I didnāt want two page stating the same thing. So, what I did was write out all my information on charging on a separate sheet of paper, then glued the top of that page into my grimoire. This way I could flip up the page on charging (as if it were on a clipboard) and have my page on consecrating underneath.
- Extended pages. Similar to the one above. In my Crystal section of my Grimoire, I decided to write out a chart that let me search for crystals by intention. So I drew my chart on a long sheet of paper, then folded it over (side to side) so that it fit comfortably in my book, then I just glued one side down into the book.
- Brochures. In my Elements section, I had a ton of information I wanted to write down, but I didnāt want each element to have more than two pages. So I used a piece of computer paper and folded it into a brochure (or into thirds) and glued it into the book so that the flaps would open and give me double the space to write.
- Clear Tape. There are many times where i finished a page in my grimoire only to find out there was a section that I left out. A simply way to fix this was with clear tape. I would write my forgotten bit of into on a separate piece of paper and then use clear tape to tape one side of the paper to my page. This allows me to flip the paper back and forth without covering up anything that I had written.

what to put in a grimoire
Stuff that is relevant to you. Donāt waste time and effort filling out pages of astrology if you arenāt interested in astrology. If you are never going to use the page for that information, donāt waste the page on it. Donāt be worried about what other witches have in their book. This is your book, not everyoneās. And if you are planning on creating some fantastic book that youāll pass down to your future witch children, know that the your first one probably isnāt going to be the one youāll want to pass down anyway. Likely information you once thought was important youāll later find doesnāt matter to you at all. Let your first book be the one you can mess up and explore in. You need room to learn and grow, not worry about every little detail of what you might be missing.
With that said, here is a list of ideas for what you might want to put in your grimoire. This is a collection of ideas taken from all over. Remember to fearlessly scratch things that you arenāt honestly interested in:
-A book blessing/protection to protect it from wandering eyes
-Your personal pages: a page about you and your goals for the craft, the day you decided to be a witch, your natal chart/zodiac info for you and/or your so/birth tarot cards or birth playing card, your craft name or personal sigil if you have one, any psychic abilities you have
-A page for your personal correspondences: your signature herbs/rocks/scent/sound/animal, your craft name/sigil
-A page for your familiar/s if you have any: their given/secret name, their sigil, info about when you met them and when they left/died, what they helped you with, what they like, how they can be contacted
-A portrait of your shadow self: a reflection exercise to help identify/confront a representation of all your worst attributes and fears/ what you hate about yourself/ what really eats away at you about yourself
-A list of your current witch tools, where you got them, whats special about them, how they were consecrated (if they were), etc
-An ancestor page: this could be your family tree, pictures of your deceased, locations of graves, etc
-Info about the plants/animals/rocks in your area
-The wheel of the year, if thatās applicable to you
-Esbat/Sabbat information if thatās applicable (personally I only observe the full moon)
-The monthly moon names if you observe the changing of the moon: you can google and see which ones speak to you, or since theyāre outdated you can make up your own (for instance I have a Coyote moon because the coyotes howl outside my house, rather than a Wolf moon)
-Any rites/rituals/songs/poems/pictures/quotes/spells/recipes/etc that are important to you and/or your practice.
-A page to keep a list of all your active spells/wards/enchanted items
-Deity: history/picture/correspondence of any deity you are interested in, for secret witches you can have an altar for them inside your book, entries of your relationship/experience with them, family tree of the pantheon if applicable. Even if you worship an entire pantheon, you donāt need to have a page for everyone in the pantheon. And even if you are a secular witch, you can still make a deity page if you so decide.
-Divination info for the practices youāre interested in: history, correspondence cheat sheet, any spreads you think are important, record your readings, a pendulum board in your book if youāll use it
-Sigils: how to create/charge, sigils youāve found helpful
-Astrology: natal chart, zodiac info, calendar for planetary retrograde/moon phases/celestial events (meteor showers, etc)
-Cleansing, Protection, and Banishing methods
-Meditation, Centering, Grounding and Shielding methods/techniques/symbols/pictures
-Dreamwork: a dictionary of your personal recurring dream symbols, a collection of your dreams written/drawn
-Spiritwork: any spirits you are or have been in contact with and basic information
-Correspondences (remember to think about what your correspondence is and not what some list on tumblr tells you): herbs, rocks and crystals, animals, metals, moon phases, planets, planetary retrograde, colors, directions, your witch tools (this is mostly kitchen tools for me)
An index in the back for organization

ā§ table of contents: so you donāt have to flip through to find whatever youāre looking for
ā§ a page all about you : helps to make it more personalized. you can add your favorite herbs, crystals, plants, incense, tarot cards and just about anything thatās important to your craft. you can write what your path is and what interested you about it. you can add your natal chart.
ā§ goals: goals in your path (can be included on the page about you)
ā§ calendar: you can write down the lunar phases on it, holidays important to your craft such as Esbats or Sabbats
ā§ elements: what they stand for. their importance. correspondence.
ā§ herbs/plants/flowers: I wouldnāt put every herb but write down the ones that you most commonly use and their correspondence
ā§ crystals: exact same as the herb page.
ā§ runes: exact same as herb page.
ā§ candles: you can write down what each color represents.
ā§ witch tools: write down the tools you use. maybe their importance or what you use them for.

ā§ ancestors: your ancestor line.
ā§ resources: info from books youāve read.
you can decorate your book with dried up leaves/flowers, illustrations, collages, colored pen/markers. I would recommend adding a protection sigil. by no means do you have to make your book aesthetically pleasing, do whatever works for you! In my case, the nicer it is the more Iāll use it. add whatever is important to your craft, donāt add stuff youāre not going to need or use. make it your own!
@blogssuchasthis challenged me to try to make another mini figurine of one of the egyptian goddess known as Wenut. With their permission I gave it a cute tiny chibi style. I hope I did her justice
:O adorable!
Finally got around to some artwork for Yinepu! This was inspired by a scene in the TV adaptation of Neil Gaimanās āAmerican Godsā with Anubis and a recently deceased individual. I tried to capture the mystical feeling that the story imparted. Hopefully it worked! Prints available here.
I've been working on my grimoire these past few days and I've finally set up a schedule for page writing š
Honestly taking any old book that's around the house, slathering the pages with paint and magazine images, and gluing on scrap pieces of paper with the info is a lot more fun than stressing over a $25 leather-bound journal with delicate pages smh
I just had a wild af dream about this random guy I met online who thought I lied to him. He DM'd me after finding out I was Kemetic and then began to harass me with phrases like "You're the spawn of Apep" and "Ammit is going to eat your heart".
When I didn't respond, he sent me a link to his livestream where he and his friend were playing a game with an ancient Egyptian temple in it. He was at the temple and when he found wall art of a woman or goddess, he aligned his body with the art and defiled it.
He later somehow found me in real life and we ended up having sex (???). Turns out he's a prince and his father the king appears and says we can't marry unless I beat the prince in a chariot race. First we had to chase our chariot and I was the first to catch up to mine, but the prince and I ended up tying. The king was angry that I even came close to beating his son so he ordered me to be executed by an old woman. The old woman held up a gun but said she couldn't do it, and gave it back to the king. The king ended up sparing my life and all in all this was a shitstorm of a dream.

What scents or smells are associated with Bast?
Hello!
Bast is closely connection with scents of perfume and medicine. This is because her name was written with the bas-jar which was an ointment jar.
Perfumes were made using tree resins, wax or by pressing flowers and this link might be useful if you want to look into how perfumes were made.
āļø http://www.reshafim.org.il/ad/egypt/trades/perfume_makers.htm
I have personally found that Bast loves really sweet floral scents, things like sweet pea and jasmine go down really well. But she also likes anything that is a natural scent.
I have a couple of jars of special fragrant oils that I wear extremely rarely that Iāve dedicated to the gods. But I also have scented products that I use every day that have been dedicated like shower gel and face moisturiser. Iāve also found that Bast seems to be less keen on burning scents, like joss sticks or loose incense and prefers oil burns, Reed diffusers and even pot pourri.
āļøāļøāļø
Honestly I would experiment and see what works best for you! I donāt think you can really go too wrong with Bast and scents, so long as they are offered respectfully. Good luck! And do let me know if you have anymore questions! :)
When You Find the One š
me and my 39101038 grimoires
Guess who gave Bastet a little shrine! I got inspired by some stuff I saw on tumblr actually!!
I read she liked sweets so I got pocky!
The little thing that reads āAschaā I got from a friend when she went to Morocco (itās my name) dunno why but I felt like putting it there, so š
Iām pretty happy with how it turned out!!
You're not going to find your spirituality on the internet
Maybe thisāll be unpopular but itās been bugging me a lot lately.
Online thereās a lot of āmy gods are so silly I gave them fun nicknames and we hang out like buddies lolzā
Online thereās a lot of ā[insert religion] sucks! Itās boring and stupid and being pagan is sooooo much cooler! Iām more fulfilled than theyāll ever be!ā
Online thereās a lot of trendy fads and expensive magick tools/altars/etc and people who will tell you who you should be even when it goes against your better judgement.
But a lot of baby witches and pagans will cling to the Internet as their only place to learn about their chosen spirituality.
Your spirituality is so much deeper and more meaningful than that. You, reading this now, YOU are capable of so much. If you feel jaded about life like I do right now, please log off for a moment.
Go meditate without any preconceptions or expectations. Just breathe, count your breaths. Feel the energy around you. If you can, light a candle and gaze into the flame. If you have any, hold a crystal and tune into it.
Go out in nature somewhere, anywhere, and feel the wind on your face. Breathe in the primordial earth. Listen to the sounds around you.
Your gods arenāt silly playthings for you to take out of a box and amuse yourself with when youāre bored. Theyāre powerful beings who deserve respect and shouldnāt be called on frivolously. Talk to them, give them offerings, but donāt degrade them to āspooky toyā status.
You donāt have to spend a dime on an altar. You donāt have to ālookā a certain way. You donāt need all the bells and whistles or an impressive magical lineage.
Donāt shit all over other religions, even if you donāt agree with them. Respect them as their own identities. Your spirituality isnāt a trendy accessory to make you look edgy and unique. Itās a deeply felt reality for you, something that drives you from the core of your being. Laughing at someone elseās spiritual path is like pointing at someoneās purse and ridiculing it because itās not as cool as yours. Spirituality isnāt an accessory, so donāt treat it like one or you risk looking like you arenāt confident in your own.
And finally, donāt try to search for your spiritual path online. Study and learn there, sure. Ask questions. Be curious. But donāt confuse Internet tags and Instagram photos for your own personal spiritual identity. The only way to develop your spiritual identity is by actively practicing, and I mean YOUR way. Donāt want to worship gods? Donāt. Uncomfortable with practicing magick? Donāt.
Please log off every now and then to decompress and turn inward, away from the allure of Internet spirituality. Energy, spirit, deitiesāthese are all purely experiential things that require your full attention and considerable mindfulness. Please donāt shape your spiritual identity around boredom or edginess or nonconformity for its own sake. If you found your spirituality because itās not mainstream or you thought you could learn some magick to make you interesting, then itās based mainly on negative traits like guilt, anger, or escapism.
Let your spirituality be a driving force at the core of your being, something powerful and good and absolutely enchanting because it speaks to your soul. Take your spirituality out of its conceptual phase in your mind and put it into real, tangible practice.
And sorry I ranted for five million hours I just have a lot of feelingsā¦ā¦
Preach
Nun, the elemental god that personified moisture, gave his bounty to his children who spread it throughout Egypt: the corpse of the great god Osiris gave its amazing fertilizingĀ powers to the water [of the Nile], the land and its crops. Hapy was the Nile god himself, plump, full-breasted and coloured like the floodwaters 'whose arrival brings joy to everyone, nourishes the fields, finds provender for all of Egypt.'
John Romer, People of the Nile: Everyday Life in Ancient Egypt
Praise to you, great Netjeru. To Your presence in our lives. To the hands that hold us when we are weak. To the strength You impart. And the prayers You hear. Light our way in the darkest times. For you are pure. We are pure. Our hearts are in Ma'at.
Always,
Iseqi
Daughter of Amun-ra and Set
Beloved of Hethert-Sekhmet and Heru-Wer
Close your eyes little kitten of mine.
Close your eyes and let the dreams come.
You are tired and your eyelids are heavy.
Youāve had a long day and so you must rest.
I will protect you. I am your Mother.
I will give you all the strength you need.
The nightmares wonāt come,
and the dreams will bring you peace,
as you lay your head to sleep.

I love this - I really felt Bast in this song š
