an artist+ huge member of the queer community here passed today after a long cancer battle and i hate the like. social media spectacle of acknowledging it, and i didnt really knowthem, but it also feels spectacle and taboo NOT to, like an unintentional message by not commenting ona death announcement post. got me allfucked up on top of the general sadness + emotions around it.

BUT. i apparently impressed a man because he rode up beside me on the bike path after a big intersection and was like "yo do you take xyz road? i passed you earlier but somehow youre ahead of me now!" i feel bad cause i was more focused on being freaked out hving someone ride right next to me than answering very well but. i tried lol. idk when he passed me.

and i pissed off some other dude cause i passed him cause he was going slightly too slow but more cause he had a basket with shit rattling in it and it was annoying me... so he made a point to pass me later lol. which w.e. man just be far enough away I dont gotta hear you

part of why i love gotham is the like. dichotomies you have to balance to write in it. its so ridiculously absurd it just doesnt make any sense.

this is a reality with aliens and apocalyptically powered people left right and center. and yet. this city. that tries its darndest to keep those kind of OP entities out of its borders. is somehow One Of The Worst Places in the country. high up there on The Planet arguabley. but its. literally just a city. its *theoretically* functional. like its not an all out horror fest and those DO EXIST in universe. and yet its still.... Notabley Bad. how does it manage that. is a fascinating question.

im no doctor or scientist so this is all just random speculation but i am curious.. not why cause we know why, patriarchy and capitalism, but like. why, there arent more complex interventions for hormonal birth control. (assuming im talking female to some degree, insofar as applicable, due to the lack of male hormonal contraception and also simpler hormonal situation there anways) like i totally get that most people are going to want things as simple as possible for ease of use thats cool. But im thinking about it because i was reading the little pamphlet that came with my iud last night (funny i didnt get to read that until after it got put it in since i didnt want to void anything with the box by opening it before my appointment- anyways-) and theres a brief line about some people reporting difficulty breast feeding/lower production after having it. Which, made me wonder why that would be. And im totally assuming but id guess that given it often (though not always) stops ovulation, and the lutienizing(?) hormone i think it is that comes with the whole ovulation process has something to do with priming for breast milk production if i remember right- like maybe the lack of that like. engine check not being ran every month does damage to those cells over time (use it or lose it type shit). Which then got me wondering like. Could we not just formulate a pill for that hormone that you take a few days a month so you can avoid the degredation without needing to ovulate? Like we just kinda stopped hormonal birth control at "does it stop the sperm and eggs and zygotes from succeeding? sick good enough" when like... why not make it more customizable at this point so different people can cater to what aspects of their cycle they want to dampen or remove.

anyways. if this reaches a science person id love to hear thoughts on what if anything could be fine tuned without removing efficacy of different virth control methods- purely for curiousities sake.

tldr: apparently my cervix is toight* and my uterus is Archtypically Length'd (8cm)- fuckinnnnn nailed it.

*i dont think that was so much the issue as the angle for him but listen it took him like a literal 5 minutes to get passed it with his lil probey dealy it was incredibly awkward for everyone involved. didnt hate the tenaculum at first but then he started wiggling all the different tools around in there and i was like hokay now settle down. but eventually he got it. then did the iud half. and THAT part hurt a decent amount. going through was meh but getting to thw back and then oPening it?? actually cringed pretty hard on that part and was like eyo that hurts now (cause he kept askin if i was ok/etc and i was like i mean if u want to know and its not supposed to heres the update) and he was like haha oh! yea! that part will. as if he hadnt been warning me about swipes of iodine or adjustments to the speculum iT WOULDA BEEN NICE TO GET A WARNING ON THE MOST PAINFUL PART. anyways. And the assisting lady gave me a pad and it was the longest pad i have ever seen and that did not help anything. kept it on cause didnt know if id be bleeding but so far not at all just some iodine. so swapped that finally for a liner. ANYWAY

it was survivable. teying to walk to work was ASS. my body was panicking over the intrusion and like anxiety ibs shits, cramps, sweating. But toddled my crampy way over and curled up in my chair and got workin. really just feels lile getting kicked into a period with no warning. so now its mostly whatever just sore.
