Some thoughts on the new chapters

I kept thinking about what felt so odd about Minuki’s new world (my mind already got blown away a few times after seeing things so different), and after the latest chapter, I think I found the answer---- this is a world without "malice”. Toma became a good dad because his parents never fought, and Tsubaki’s subclasses were never persecuted by others so they remain human.

   Judging how Mahiru regained his memory after he called Kuro’s name, it was obvious that the original timeline was never erased. My guessing is that the “rewinds” were actually Minuki constantly rewriting a realistic fantasy to build a “perfect” world for Misono, a fantasy world without any sufferings. For Lily, this is the “happier world” he had wanted; for Jeje, he wanted nothing more to see Kiriko happy.

Everything looked great, but in the end, it was all simply a fantasy, a dream that would eventually wake up to the reality that everything that happened could never be erased.

Kind of interesting to think that only Kuro, Hugh, Jeje, Tsubaki (and probably Lily) remember about the original world, Freya, Hyde, and Ildio didn’t seem to notice everything had been reset.

Some thoughts on the new chapter(spoilers alert)

Minuki wants to use St. Germaine as a rewinding tool to go back in time to fix things, and he is intending to do it multiple times until he’s satisfied with the result. At the same time, I really agree on people saying that Minuki had lost his marbles. For example, does he really understand what it means to make Misono his son? Is he seriously thinking of having an affair with Misono’s mother? That would just create other problems. He’s simply causing the butterfly effect to go rampage.

Minuki also believes St. Germaine has the ability to go back in time, I find that quite odd because if St. Germaine really had that kind of ability, he would have gone back in time to save Adam instead of turning him into Sleepy Ash. My guessing is that the Count created the other servamps as vessels to hold Jinn for him and put demons inside them to stable them. He gave the servamps the ability to create subclasses to make more Jinn, he also gave Tsubaki the ability to “break” other servamps so he could take all the Jinn back when needed. He is planning on using all the Jinn available to create more power and grant him the ability to transcend time or bring the dead back to life. I think that power is what Minuki is aiming for.

My headcanon on how well-off the servamps are

Sleepy Ash: Broke. He probably never found a job after becoming a Servamp. he couldn’t control his form before meeting Gear, and he pretty much did nothing aside from helping out the house when he lived with Gear. After killing St. Germain, he got sealed up and just recently woke up and bound with Mahiru. He and Mahiru both live off uncle Tooru’s salary.

Old Child: Filthy rich. Having been rich for his whole life, it’s difficult for him to change his life style, and he understands the importance of money and the benefits it gives. It’s impossible for him to find a job because of his five-year-old appearance, but that doesn’t stop him from using his subclasses to do investments for him. Using his centuries long experiences, he has accumulated a stunning amount of wealth under different aliases over time. I believe he still pays for food and accommodation for his special room in Tetsu’s hotel, along with other expenses like eating out or buying things he likes.

Doubt Doubt: Poor. He’s likely a priest when he was human, so he’s not very into material possessions. He also doesn’t really have a drive to live, so he doesn’t really care about money either. It’s not likely he ever had a job because of his overly quiet personality and tendency to constantly cover his face. Like Sleepy Ash, he was sealed up and then just spend time hunkering in the Alicein mansion basement after Kiriko broke his seal. He probably gets pocket money from Mikuni after they left the Alicein mansion, but he hardly spends any money aside from his hobby.

The Mother: Not very well-off. Not sure if she ever had a job before meeting her pervious Eve but probably didn’t go well because of her perpetual frown and death glares. After bonding with her previous Eve, she most likely helped out his business and had saved up some money. After bonding with Izuna, she lived off Izuna’s salary or just took up living in the C3 headquarter.

Lawless: Well-off. His slightly pampered personality and choosing celebrities as his Eves had indicated a comfortable life. He works part time to kill time, buy famous brands and stylish trinkets he likes, and to simply enjoy life. He also has Guildenstern to take care of his daily life and other subclasses to help him out when needed.

World End: It is canon that he’s completely broke and always waiting for someone to pay for him. All his money is spent on food, and is unfortunately still far from enough. Being able to eat and fight is the only thing important to him, so he often gets hired by criminal organizations or armies. Food is a huge cost for him, so it’s likely he gets paid with food instead of money, making him completely penniless.

All of Love: Living from paycheck to paycheck. He has been living in the Alicein mansion for centuries and has no money aside from the pocket money the Alicein family gives him. Food and accommodation are provided for him, but he often uses up his monthly pocket money too soon due to bad management. This is probably because money comes easy to him both when he was human and vampire, so he doesn’t really care much about it.

Tsubaki: Rich. Though he’s only been active in the recent years due to him being sealed up. It is unclear how he got the money, but he had accumulated enough wealth to disguise as a wealthy sponsor, reserve whole floors in a fancy hotel, feeding his most trusted subclasses, and conspire evil plans.

Am I the only one kind of bothered by the fact that Hugh didn’t seem to have drank Tetsu’s blood after their confrontation on the roof? Hugh made a last minute effort to resist the contract when Tetsu gave him the contract item and called his name, and we didn’t see the chain binding the Servamp to their Eve appear. Only a temporary contract is made if the Servamp didn’t drink the blood of the person who gave them the name and item. Though I doubt Yumikage or Shirayuki (Yumikage’s mother) would let Hugh weasel out with an incomplete contract again. And judging from how only Eve’s were swallowed by their Servamps, Hugh’s bittersweet smile while he admit his defeat, and how he lost his jinn after Tsubaki’s attack, I think the contract is real. Perhaps the blood drinking happened off-screen?

Been re-reading the recent chapters about Hugh and Tetsu’s confrontation on the roof, and I’m sure it was a trap set by Yumikage, Tetsu and Sagami (Hugh’s subclass) to catch Hugh. Hugh’s behavior made it obvious that Tetsu was his weakness (the only person Hugh couldn’t bear to leave behind), so the plan was hatched.  

Tetsu’s job was to prepare a name and a contract item, Yumikage would stall for time so Sagami could bring Tetsu over. Hugh probably realized the trap when Tetsu showed up, but it was too late for him because he was totally stuck, neither able to run and leave Tetsu behind, nor able to attack since the boy would be in the way. Before Hugh could make up his mind, Tetsu tossed him the shogi piece and called his name almost right after Hugh caught the shogi piece, effectively creating a contract and binding him right on the spot.

All of Hugh’s plan went down the drain at that point, but I don’t think he’s really disappointed because he eventually agreed on the contract in return, realizing that he had long since grown fond of Tetsu, to the point that the boy had become more important than his revenge.

So the whole thing gave me the idea of this pic, Hugh the wild servamp stepped into a trap and now has a collar LOL

Can't get my mind off the Pride pair ever since Hugh's back story came out and how they finally made a true contract.

Hugh is probably the second most calculating and manipulative Servamp aside from Lily. Though he stays in his child's form most of the time because that's his "default" form, it is also likely he utilized it to drop people's guard and hide his true intention. Though it wasn't really stated in canon, but Algernon III is likely an aristocrat or a noble. Algernon III dislike socializing with the towns people in his old age, but that doesn't mean he wasn't taught the intrigues of noble lifestyle, and he was indeed good at it.

Information is the crucial key in a fight, so he made many subclasses to help him gather all kinds of information for him. The fake contract part was a genius move as well, no one suspected Hugh's contract with Tetsu was fake until Yumikage's deduction came out. Hugh had also admitted to Tetsu that he had been using him to get higher up information from C3 and Alicein family. Judging how Hugh stated that he decides his own name, it is likely that Hugh had used this fake contract method before to gather information and never truly had an Eve. His scheming and information gathering were way ahead of the protagonists, but he hid them all behind his childish appearance.

But despite all that, it is still hard to hate him because we know his reasoning and back story, it is also obvious that he is a kind-hearted person. He loved the boy who had brought happiness into his life in his final days, so he swore revenge on the Count and mourned for the boy ever since he was reborn as a servamp. All those planning he made was to stop the Count so no one had to suffer anymore. But most importantly, he truly cared deeply for Tetsu despite their fake contract. How he begged Tetsu to come with him despite knowing his lie was found out, his desperation when Tetsu was shot, how he stayed by his side until he regained consciousness, and those vulnerable expressions he made when Tetsu confronted him on the roof spoke more than any words.

My favorite part was when Tetsu tentatively reached out and called Hugh's name like trying to approach a scared animal, Hugh's reaction was like a helpless child gripping on his own cape for support. All his resolution and planning had pretty much crumbled at that point, as Yumikage had pointed out, he had long since lost to Tetsu.

Tetsu had always been on the passive side in their relationship since Hugh is often more proactive, but this time, he took the initiative. He knew he was no match to Hugh when it came to brain power, so he didn't allow Hugh time to think and straight out asked for the contract by tossing his chosen contract item to him. Like what he said to Mahiru when they later met up, he was there to get back what he lost.

Their relationship is truly beautiful, what had started out fake had blossom into true bonds. I'm really looking forwards to see more about them. Of course, Hugh's adult form being hot as hell is a bonus LOL

I kept thinking of Vladcard when listening to Romanian nation anthem, if the anthem is any indication of the people, I could totally understand how the nation was the birthplace of Vlad Dracula, the great warrior.

Some Abraham/Alucard fics makes me ashamed to be human...

I've always been really interested in reading fics including Alucard's relationships between his masters, especially with his first master. No offense to fic writers, but sometimes I really feel like crying after reading some fics that turn Abraham into a total sadistic bastard who gets a kick out of tormanting Alucard and considering himself a servant of God. To me that's even worse than the Major and Maxwell put together, really makes me ashamed to be the same race as he is...  

The Hellsing family is the beacon of light to Alucard, they are his keeper, guidance and protector of his last domain and sanity, and the proof of strong human will itself. Abraham himself is espcially important, the man who commands Dracula /Alucard's respect and loyalty. I simply can't imagine someone like him being a sadistic self-righteous bastard. And this is Alucard's master we're talking about, not just anyone.  

Alucard himself is also a man of will who is just too stubborn to die, he is a king, a warrior to his very bones and the word "give up" simply does not exist in his dictionary. No amount of torture could possibly make him bow his proud arrogant head, he has been through Hell and all the way back, after all. The only thing that would make him bend a knee is when he truly respects someone. And judging from that scene form the ending credits of OVA1, Abraham had command Dracula's utter respect.   

 If I were to guess, the interaction between Alucard and Abraham would loosely resemble how he reacts around Integra except for the twisted love part. I would imagine Abraham staring at Alucard with those cold piercing blue eyes while Alucard grins in anticipation and waits for his master's orders while admiring the man's strong will.

I hate Utsuro's smile, so cold and twisted. But I don't think he is evil. Or rather, I think he is an angry man filled with despair. Utsuro hated the job as Naraku, and he believed people were free, he believed in hope and the soul of samurai, so he became Shouyou. But his hope was ripped away as he is stuck in the destiny of being Utsuro. So he wished for death.

The time he spent with his stuents were real, and though he knows his hands were stained with layers of blood, he still loved his students and taught them. Even if my guessing was wrong and Utsuro is a bad guy, the time he spent with Gintoki, Katsura and Takasugi cannot be denied.
