Hello bbys. I am not completely dead. But thought I’d say hello since I finally am coming to check on the 34 messages that I apparently have here that tumblr has been nagging me about via email.  I probs won’t be around long, but you know. Hai.

I’ve been meaning to do this for a bit but; This/my tumblr is probably going to be dead for awhile more than it already has.  Just got too much life stuff to take care of right now. Everything’s stable and okay, but just hella busy and there’s a lot of random shit going on. Just wanted to answer some of the messages I’ve gotten from you wonderful peeps recently.  So, I won’t stay this blog is gone forever, just an extended hiatus.  If you need/want to send me anything and don’t have any other ways to get ahold of me, message me and I’ll give you info.  Love youuuuuu

Hi hello I am alive.  I am finally moved in, and spending my last day ‘off’ just trying to unpack and soothe my kitty’s[x2] mental breakdowns and training the bf on how to get them into a schedule of putting them in the bedroom if there’s any chance the front door will be opened so that there’s no escapees.  My feet are killing me, and I am sore as hell.  I am glad to be away from my last place and roommates. Not that they were terrible but one in particular was just petty as fuck and I was so tired of hearing her talk shit in another language and then she’d remember that I know some Spanish, enough to call her out on when she was talking shit. [But then she’d try and tell me I misunderstood - uh huh.] The other is just so wish-washy and forgetful that I’m pretty sure her animals are going to die from neglect now that I’m gone. It’s sad but I had to just separate myself from it all so I didn’t get stuck with more bs.  Work and travel to work is going to be worse than before, as outlined in some of my past personal posts. But I’m just going to have to grin and bear it until I figure out what I’m going to do now either vehicle or job-wise. It doesn’t help every day recently its been 105-108+ [not counting the ‘feels like’ aspect of it] outside with no cloudcover or wind so holy fuck I cook anytime I’m outside. Also I was pretty butthurt yesterday because the bf and I finally and went and saw the new Ghostbusters, and I liked it well enough, but he didn’t. [He also wasn’t a huge fan of the first ones, so he’s also not a ghostbro or anything] He mainly didn’t like it because the humor wasn’t his usual kind of humor and he said that it was kinda boring, and both of those are acceptable but then he rounded up his ‘why I didn’t like it’ summary with ‘and man, I just hated the portrayal of Kevin...’ And I was like no, nonononononno don’t be one of those assholes no what have I done I just moved in with you nooooo And he explained; ‘I know what he’s a stereotype of, and I know it has/does happen way too often to women in media, and it sucks, and I know that it’s supposed to be a taste of our own medicine and all...’ And I was like ‘yes okay good, so what’s the problem here’ ‘...but still portraying him like that is sexist too, and fighting sexism with a different kind of sexism is...’ And I just kinda tapped out mentally. See my last personal post before the Santa one on why I’m getting more frustrated on this.  I just had to think of this quote: “It’s hard to convince someone that they’ve misunderstood a concept when their very (albeit misguided) understanding of the world depends on the existence of the falsehood in question.” Like... I dunno. I wanted to go on a huge rant about stereotypes/tropes/men hating something shown on themselves that they constantly force on women vs actual sexism but I know it would just cause another awkward ‘hitting a wall’ situation and I just haven’t had the time to really word my thoughts well enough to bring up this conversation with him.  Sigh.  Anyway, yeah. Alive, barely. I’ll be back around hopefully within the next few days.

Totally forgot that I hadn’t posted here, but I’ve obviously been gone the last few days + will  continue to be gone for awhile still: I’m in moving mode. Gotta pack up everything and moving day is this upcoming Sunday, plus a few days to try and settle the cats/myself in.  Packing/moving is stressful, peeps.

Mike Pence in 1999 op-ed: Disney's "Mulan" is liberal propaganda

Pence wrote the op-ed before he ran for Congress and when he served as a radio talk show host

China has had martial heroines longer than almost anywhere on earth. Mulan may have been largely myth, but to suggest it’s made-up propaganda is utter lunacy. There’s a LOT of martial heroines who were just as hardcore as Mulan:

Fu Hao, who was commanding armies in the age of pharaohs. 

Princess Pingyang, who helped overthrow the Sui dynasty and inaugurate the Tang (and who’s been featured on here before).

Yim Wing Chun, who created the style of kung fu that Ip Man and Bruce Lee used (and who was also on here before); she was taught, according to tradition, by:

Ng Mui, a legendary martial artist, one of the five great elders.

Fang Qi Niang, who started a branch of martial arts that was one of the chief influences on Yim Wing Chun.

Ching Shih, a prostitute-turned-pirate leader who commanded 70,000 men (also featured on here before).

Qin Liangyu, a Ming dynasty general who fought the Manchus.

Wang Cong'er, who led the White Lotus Rebellion against the Manchus.

Lin Siniang, a prostitute-turned-princess who trained the harem in martial arts

Li Xiu, who, when unexpectedly put into military leadership, held a city out from invading forces for seven years

Sun Shangxiang, badass Han dynasty warrior

Shen Yuying, a Ming dynasty general who took over for her father when he died

Liang Hongyu, a slave who bought herself free and became a fearsome Song dynasty general

And that is just CHINA, and just the women I could list OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD. There are so, so, SO many more historical women who’ve seen combat - here’s a long, LONG list for just such occasions! 

It’s entirely possible Pence has since evolved his views (one would hope, this is an old claim!) - but regardless, outrageous claims like these deserve to be met with knowledge and facts when they arise.

(fair warning: I haven’t done extensive research into all of these women; legend and history tend to intermingle when you go back too far, so the historicity of a few may be in question.)

22-Year-Old Black Woman Dies in Custody

Symone Nicole Marshall, a 22-year-old mother of a 3-year-old girl, died in custody on Tuesday, May 10.

According to Marshall’s family she was in a serious car accident on April, where her car rolled over multiple times.

However, she wasn’t taken to the hospital. Instead the police took her to the Walker County Jail in Huntsville, Texas.

Symone’s sister, Honey, said:

“When I talked to her from jail, she complained that her head was hurting and she kept blacking out. I called the jail several times and requested for them to take her to a real hospital and they wouldn’t do so. If they would have this, her death could have been prevented and my sister would still be here. My heart hurts so bad. She was my best friend. I am so angry that they did this to her. She moved to Texas for a fresh start in life a few months ago. She was doing good down there, had a job and was about to buy a house. She’s a beautiful person, never been in trouble before and didn’t deserve this.”

Texas police and Walker County jail officials refused to comment or release information about the accident.

Marshall’s family hasn’t been able to get details from officials either.

Republicans support conversion therapy in their most anti-LGBT platform ever

Republican delegates neared approval of a platform that is staunchly conservative in matters of gender, homosexuality and marriage.

The Republican Party is about to approve its 2016 platform, and their proposed draft takes a stronger stance against LGBT rights than ever before. 

Among many other backwards views on social issues, the platform says:

Marriage equality should be overturned with a constitutional amendment

Judges to be appointed (ahem, SCOTUS) should be advocates for “traditional family values”

Parents should have the right to put their LGBT children through conversion therapy

States should be able to dictate which bathrooms trans people use

Kids who have one mom and one dad are less likely to be drug addicts or “otherwise damaged” 

Religious principles should guide lawmaking: “man-made law must be consistent with God-given, natural rights”

Please do not vote Republican in this election. This platform could literally mean life or death for LGBT youth, transgender people, and so many others who will be targeted – strategically and legally – for being who they are.
