I really enjoyed making this piece — it was genuinely so fun to work on!

This character is yet another incredibly cool one, and honestly, I’m not surprised when it comes from artists who put so much personality into their creations. There’s just something about certain OCs that makes you want to draw them immediately.

I feel like my art is improving, and I think my patience is too, because this piece definitely tested it! But in the end, it’s all about giving yourself the time to create something you’re happy with.

Anyway, I’m going off track again...

This character was just too cool, and with Art Fight almost coming to an end, I had to make something for them. I hope you enjoy it!

Among artists I follow that make art of canine ocs with heavy religious themes, I've been seeing a recent uptick where they get asks of someone calling them a copy of Canis Albus or Machete because of similar aesthetics, and it's been disheartening to see. Even Canis got an ask at one point from an anon about it (and guessing from their response I'm not they realized what anon was getting at, but that's getting away from things)

As someone who really likes seeing people's ocs and the art/stories they make of them, please don't let those kinds of people get to you. Unfortunately a lot of people on this site are still really young and haven't learned that similarity doesn't equal copying yet.

Thank you very much for the kind words 🙂‍↕️🫶 , it is a shame that people with similar aesthetics and focuses get bashed for it on this app . It was the main reason why I stopped using Tumblr for a while .

But it is very much refreshing to hear from people like you , who understand that similarities aren't a bad thing .

It is inevitable that we will have similarities , , as we are both Catholic canine artists . But that doesn't mean people should have the right to attack smaller creators for having a similar theme .

But you're right , I assume a majority of these people are quite young . I'd be hypocritical to say I didn't act similarly when I was a child too ahah 😭💔 but now that I'm an adult , it's all just nonsense and unnecessary drama .

Damn how many of you Machete clones are there??

Hi , my character is actually a kinsona of another borzoi priest from a video game . ( He's usually drawn as a human , but the creator likes to draw him as a borzoi with wings on his neck . . So I did that too lol it felt fitting for a kinsona )

But since the breed is similar , and the occupation is the same , I suppose it's easy to get it confused .

My character for reference : ( this is a little outdated 🥲 ; but I took my inspiration from this character very heavily . Even took the cross on the priest collar lmfao — he used to have the scarf as well but I decided against it for his redesign . . )

Even the outfit is incredibly similar 👁️‍🗨️👁️‍🗨️💧

I do understand the confusion though . . Especially when translated into a cartoon dog style that doesn't have hair ( because I hate drawing hair — I think it looks weird on anthro ) 💔

I'm tired of people getting my characters confused with that creator though , so I thought I'd post my inspiration .

He is so cool.. I recommend learning about his lore because it's complex and interesting.

The themes are really unique.

The color red is something I like too.

I genuinely think I hit the roof of my art skills for now.

Yet no one knows, there can always be room to improve.
