I kinda feel like I’m going crazy 💀💀💀 Whenever there’s a controversy in the LADS fandom, it always shocks me to see how willfully ignorant and immature some people can be. I’m sure most of the people who are confused or upset are probably in the minority, but it’s bizarre to watch anyways. The 6th LI addition was quite possibly the most predictable thing imaginable, and wayyy too many people are shocked by it 😭
First though, I think it’s completely valid to be frustrated at the lack of content for Sylus and Caleb, and at Infold’s generally shitty business practices. There’s a whole list of things that I want them to change/address that are souring mine and other player’s experiences, especially as a low spender, dark-skin girl, and someone who plays a lot of other video games. I understand being frustrated that a 6th boy is being added when they haven’t addressed the biggest issues too. And, at the same time, the 6.0 livestream hasn’t happened yet. I don’t think it’s worth preemptively getting upset at concerns not being addressed until after we see what Infold plans to include in the update. If they don’t mention anything, then I think everyone SHOULD be pissed about it. But, directing all that frustration and anger towards people who are excited about Valko and trying to ruin their experience is so shitty and shouldn’t be tolerated.
Regardless, the outrage over his character is super strange to me because I feel like everyone should have seen this coming from miles away. The “Coming Soon” sign is on every character selection screen in the game for one. Did people think that Infold was just joking around or something?? I feel like that alone should’ve been a dead giveaway, but it somehow wasn’t??? How????
It’s the “6.0” update, which now brings along the 6th boy. The yellow stellacrum card character was the only one missing, as well as a boy with yellow eyes to match (every other boy’s eyes match their main stellacrum). Monday’s Deepspace Trials were missing a second character alongside Xavier. They’ve added a new character every year since launch now, alongside a big game update and new main story section, so this is following the trend. 6 is a symmetrical number and 6 sides make a hexagon, which is a reminiscent of a circle and makes sense within the themes and aesthetics of the game.
People complaining about Valko’s story also confuse me because 1.) We barely know anything about him yet and 2.) I feel like it was also very, very predictable what he was going to be. Every boy has a foil, and Rafayel, an aquatic fantasy creature who is fighting against Ever, now has Valko, a fantasy land creature who is working for Ever/ part of their family. The connection with MC is obvious, especially if they’re going for a morally grey/darker character to follow along with Sylus and Caleb. I’ve seen some people be upset that he doesn’t have long hair when every other boy has short hair and their long hair came with their myth outfits. People have already decided that his voice “sounds bad” based off of a 5 sec clip from a 30 second teaser trailer. People are saying he “doesn’t look like he belongs in the game” and that he looks “too much” like the others boys at the same time, which is so silly. People are also complaining about his EVOL, which is strange because the mix of sci-fi and fantasy is the heart of the game itself. We barely know anything about his story yet and people are already writing him off as a bad character and fighting💀
You don’t have to pull for him at all if you don’t want to, the game is very good at making it easy to ignore the boys you aren’t interested in for immersion’s sake. You don’t even have to pull anything at all if you don’t want to because every card, banner, main story, world underneath, anecdote, kindled, etc has been uploaded to YouTube and other platforms (there are audio quality differences, but it’s really not too bad because they’re all mostly 1st person anyways and there are people who post kindleds for different skin tones). I do understand frustration at having to wait longer between banners and myths, but I feel like it should’ve been expected to happen at some point considering all the blatant signs that he was coming. And, once again, that’s an “Infold” issue and not an “other players’” issue.
I honestly think most people are mad because they’re frustrated at other shit or they just wanna be upset about something and are making it everyone else’s problem. I’m really looking forward to his addition as a character regardless of the fandom’s reaction. I love all the boys, but Caleb and Sylus are my favorites and we all know how mad people were when they were added despite being beloved now. I’m definitely a werewolf/animal hybrid character lover, so I’m already sold. I really do hope this means Infold will pick up the pace now that our roster of LIs is complete because we want more lore!! I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised at the fandom melting down when something changes by now
