cool for the summer
On vacation in Polis, Clarke hooks up with a local (again and again and again).
It’s just a hot summer fling.
It’s not like anybody is going to catch feelings… right?
Now on AO3.

you don’t have to write something good. you just have to write something unhinged enough to edit later
Fanfiction is insane. You can write porn so good you make friends.
me tongue-deep in a sandalwood candle: 🤤
the tjmaxx employee loading a fourth tranquilizer dart into their blowgun: i need backup
The first rule of fandom is have fun. The second rule of fandom is find an enabler and become an enabler. Yes you should write that fic. What if it was even hornier? What if it was angstier? What if you wrote it just for me?
it’s so special to me that so much of fan culture is textual analysis for the love of the game. like thank god there are people in my phone who are also thinking about this thing i love so much that they are writing transformative fiction as character studies and setting clips of the show to music with theme-relevant lyrics and writing long text posts analyzing every line of dialogue like!! yay!!!
Writing prompt? No. Writing much delayed.
Most fandoms recommending media: yeah you should check this out it’s pretty good
Buffy fans recommending Buffy: omg I love Buffy except for the racism, the misogyny, the occasional homophobia, the way sexual assault’s handled, a couple episodes I personally hate, David Boreanaz’s Irish accent and also the fact that Joss Whedon killed my entire family. You gotta watch Buffy though. You gotta.
How to do picture comments on Ao3; a Tutorial
Has a fic ever absolutely devastated you to the point you can’t form a coherent thought? That’s okay! That’s where picture comments come in! Here’s how!
I’m not sure if this will be helpful to anyone, but you literally do not have to be a good writer to write and post fan fiction. Yes you will naturally get better at writing and finding your voice the more you do it but you do not have to be or become a professional level writer to enjoy writing and sharing fics. It’s common to hear people praise fic writers by saying their work is better than published books, and while I think this comes from a good place, that’s not the norm or expectation. There is also a sentiment that fic writing is “good practice” for becoming a better writer or doing something else later, but if fic is the only creative writing you ever do that is literally okay. Your technical skill does not mean you cannot have fun and build community with your writing, or that other people cannot love and find meaning in your work.
studied some scenes so i can figure out how i wanna draw them, ended up turning these into a lil comic?

One of the hardest parts of writing gay anything is that they (often) use the same pronouns. Balancing names and pronouns so that I'm not overusing either of them is maybe THE hardest part of writing for me, because if you use 'he' too many times in a row you'll lose track of who's doing what, but too many names is repetitive and awkward to read!
“Alright,” Josh said, pushing him into the wall. “But it's really not that hard to navigate.”
“Who are you talking to?” Jayson replied.
“Shh,” he stroked his face, and studied his face like he was seeing it for the first time. “New speaker new line. They'll figure it out.”
He laughed nervously. “Are you seriously giving them a writing lesson right now?”
“Is it working?”
“I don't know,” he said. “Which one of us is speaking?”
“Obviously me,” Josh said. “It's not as if there's a third guy in this scene or anything.”
“Actually,” said the third guy.
#here comes the third guy with a steel chair-
THIS. Keep a person's actions with their speech. Even if the action comes before the dialogue.
“Xena, I can’t lose you again.”
“Gabrielle, I’ll always be here.”
And then they finally kiss. No cuts, no fade outs.

I'm very proud of my countrymen for introducing America to the world of the proper football chant.
None of this cheerleader stuff for soccer, oh no sireee, I mean, no disrespect to cheerleaders who put a LOT of work and effort into their performances, but somehow "Rah-Rah! We're the best" from peppily gymnastic young things can't quite match the sheer power of entire stadiums of grown up fans yelling at the top of their lungs things like....
It's unclear if this one originated with the English of Scottish games (spelling of "old" as "auld" notwithstanding), but either way, well done.
And it's striking home too! :D
Sportsball holds no interest for me, but that doesn't mean I can't respect the participation aspects sometimes.
Something so funny about rereading one's own unfinished fics. Like wow this is pretty good! Almost as if it was written exactly according to what I personally like in fact! Someone should finish it!
