101 DALMATIANS (1996) Dir. Stephen Herek
it's the middle of the night and i'm feeling a little insane so i just wanted to say that the plot of arcane was built on the shoulders of caitlyn kiramman being almost impossibly good until that goodness was taken advantage of by every single person around her, whether deliberately or inadvertently.
she doesn't have to fight, doesn't need to investigate, doesn't need to treat others with the sheer amount of kindness that she does—yes, she's sheltered but she listens, she takes in new information, and she isn't selfish for a second. people like to say haha she'd do anything for her butch but that's not it. it's not simpering, it's not fawning, it's a giving kind of generosity that asks for nothing in return, that comes from someone who's always had so much but never gotten what she's really wanted, for someone to see her for who she is, both caitlyn and kiramman and so, so good, but still human.
still human, pushed to her limits, isolated from any support system, trapped in spaces and roles that constantly remind her of how she got her mother killed, and yet still doing her own investigations, coming to her own conclusions, breaking out from under Ambesa's thumb on her own, all this before she bumped into Vi again.
It's a crime to hide these in the tags, @loycos.

the internet is just like the street it's a public space and men want you out of it. the internet is where you get the news, is where you meet people, is where you build a network, is where you advertise yourself your work and your art, is where you can find resources when you have a problem or when you have been assaulted or are a victim of domestic violence and looking for support, is where you get political, is where you educate yourself on all sorts of topics and men want you out of it because they want you at home and isolated and reliant on the men in your life. just like men want you to stay at home and far away from the workplace or from spaces where you might meet people they want you out of the internet unless you're there to sell sexual pictures or videos of yourself for men's pleasure. and the internet is just like the street men will resort to sexual terrorism to keep you out of it. they will generate sexual pictures of yourself online and they will catcall you in the street. either way the goal is to make sure your access to the world, to politics, to education, to others is limited. we desperately need more law regulations on the internet and on social media but no one will do anything about it because the men in charge of these apps, the far-right men and the other right-wing men who are now heads of State are also huge liberals who love an unregulated free market that generates revenue for billionaires and that keeps the money flowing into those ai companies on the back of women and they would die before saying the State should maybe look into what all these companies are doing. what's happening on twitter with grok is the perfect synthesis between economic libertarian liberalism, male supremacy and fascism and they are all working to fuck up women's lives, the planet and the working class

In this photo from 1998, J.K. Rowling is seen writing in an Edinburgh café, where she famously drafted much of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. She famously wrote the first drafts of the series by hand rather than on a computer.
One important thing to remember in life: Do not coddle men. Do not do their work for them. Do not perform uncredited labor for them, including intellectual labor. Do not bend over backwards to help them. Do not tell them they are good at things they are bad at. Do not smile at them when you don’t want to. Do not laugh at their terrible jokes or stroke their egos or let them think they are better than you when odds are good that they are almost definitely not. Do not even deal with men whose presence bothers you when you can get away from them/when you aren’t regularly forced to be near them for things like work. Do not include men in your life who don’t deserve to be in it any time that you can avoid it at all.
this post pairs well with this one:

I LIKE GIRLS. IN A GAY WAY.
how much of the strength divide between males n female is truly biological and how much is the result of epigenetic trauma from the worldwide comparative starvation of female children for thousands of years?
especially considering that nat geo article about prehistoric women being stronger today than female athletes. and even today girls are encouraged to eat less than boys, when i was a child i knew girls on diets aged EIGHT! chronic malnutrition severely impacts the ability to build muscle - multiply that by five thousand odd years, centuries of discouragement from exercise, positioning of strength as an ‘unfeminine’ quality, confinement to the home, constant pregnancy, sexual preference for weaker, delicate women, and you have a recipe for progressively weaker generations.
i don’t deny at all that there is some natural difference in strength levels, but i wonder how much of an impact the past millennia of misogyny has had on women’s strength, whether we will ever know the extent, and how long that would take to undo.

Anyway here's the best passage from Woman Hating imo
happy autism awareness day to all the girls who had “ friends” growing up who were actually bullying them . to the girls who always sat alone in the grass and wondered why nobody wanted to talk . to the girls who spoke to animals like they were listening . to the girls who created a little world in their room . to the girls who always felt ashamed for how deeply they love things and how passionately they enjoyed media . to the girls who covered their ears when they were overwhelmed by everything . to the girls who carrying a special thing around to feel safe . to the girls who never understood what they did wrong to feel so lonely . to the girls who were diagnosed later in life because they weren’t little boys who liked trains. you are so special and beautiful and you’re not worse for it, you love deeply and that is so wonderful please never try to push that down . I LOVE YOU !!!!!
I think men are more attracted to vulnerability than they are to women.
For years, I've been left alone by men. In fact, the second I stopped abiding by sexist stereotypes the catcalling, the following, the staring in public spaces stopped. I look big and butch, that's a no-go area for men. But why?
Well, this was answered when I had a small bike accident. I got a black eye and was limping for a bit. All of a sudden, the harassment came back. I was a bit shocked and not happy at all. Suddenly going out was stressful again. Suddenly, I had to analyse the body language of the men around me to anticipate their harassment. I asked myself why. Why in under two weeks I had been more harassed than those past years combined. And of course, I realised it was because I was physically injured. And for all they knew, my black eye was signalling that another man had already hurt me. Either way, I looked vulnerable. And men are like every predator: opportunistic and cowardly.
I used to have a medium-sized dog that looked a bit like a coyote. We were never bothered by men. The minute I got a small dog, men of all sorts started harassing her. Men would stop and stare at her to intimidate her, men would make fun of her, they would stomp their feet next to her to make her jump, we would cross the street and she would move away from a man passing by and he would notice her fear, stop, turn around and follow her. Men would ask me if she was for sale, one asked me to describe how dogs have sex, one man started screaming at her to scare her and she almost jumped on the road, boys would run after her at the park and if they caught up to her they'd try to kick her or put grass in her eyes or steal her toys... None of that happened when I had a dog that didn't look like an easy victim.
So yeah, I don't even think men put a lot of thought into it, I think it's automatic, they take pleasure in annoying or scaring others but they only do it to those they think can't retaliate. They go through life trying to spot weaknesses to exploit. They're not brave or strong, that's their propaganda. They just pick on the vulnerable. It's like a radar.
And artificial femininity is a mark you put on yourself to appear vulnerable (it's all about being child-like, making yourself small, hindering your movements, self harming etc) and chivalry is women pretending to be vulnerable too (holding onto men to walk, waiting for men to open the door or move the chair for us, paying for us, we're acting like we're disabled).
It's something you need to remember when you talk about gender and femininity. It's something you need to think about when you make choices that you think are personal and devoid of political meaning.
