There’s two reasons to go to Iceland. The aurora borealis, and Riley Blue. One is a natural phenomenon, so beautiful it will blow your mind. And the other is just some pretty lights in the sky.

A journalist at Berlin Film Festival is exposing certain people from the film business simply by asking them a question about Gaza at the press conferences. First it was Wenders, then Neil Patrick Harris (not that i expected much from an Israeli Pride ambassador, classical genocide pinkwashing), now Ethan Hawke. All declining to answer a very simple question. Wenders and Harris saying they dont do "politics" (as if genocide is a political thing, imagine saying the same for the Holocaust) and Hawke even saying that the journalist has a political agenda and that he has another (well now we know Ethan what your agenda is). How more can Gaza expose the moral rot of some people at this point? Many of them claiming to be "activists" or people doing films about social justice. Except when it comes to Palestinians. Then its silence, declining to answer questions (Ethan even said once he's unafraid of talking about anything) or outright defending the perpetrators. Cowardice doesn't even begin to describe such mentality. Even after everything that's happened, absolutely nothing has changed. The complicity of so many people is staggering. If they think people will simply forget about it all or their disgraceful stance in a few years and continue to support their work, they're very wrong.
If you love someone, you tell them. Even if you're scared that it's not the right thing. Even if you're scared that it'll cause problems. Even if you're scared that it will burn your life to the ground, you say it, and you say it loud. And then you go from there.

"the best way to screw jkr over is by making her characters queer!" actually. The best way to screw jkr over is to stop engaging with the property she still profits off of and read a different fucking book
we're 10 days away from the anniversary of this post breaking my blog, so reblogs are back on! maybe I can get a new blocklist out of this
How to Create an Atmosphere: Christmas Market
Sight
twinkling fairy lights strung across wooden stalls
snow-dusted rooftops and frosted windowpanes glowing under lanterns
a towering Christmas tree decorated with baubles and stars
timber-framed stalls adorned with red-and-gold bunting, fir garlands, and hand-carved signage
vendors in cozy scarves in their stalls
steam rising from mugs
handcrafted ornaments glinting beside gingerbread houses and nutcrackers
a carousel spinning slowly, full of happy children
couples strolling hand-in-hand beneath mistletoe
Hearing
laughter, joyful conversations and "cheers!" all around
the clink of mugs and glasses in toasts
vendors calling out their specials
the crunch of boots on fresh snow or gravel
traditional carols echoing through the market
church bells chiming in the distance, marking the hour
children giggling near puppet shows or carousel ride
Touch
the bite of cold air on cheeks and fingertips, softened by woolen gloves
the warmth of ceramic Glühwein mugs against cold fingers (often with collectible designs)
soft wool scarves and felted mittens sold by local artisans
the crunch of straw or sawdust scattered on cobblestones to soak up snow
the delicate texture of lace ornaments or hand-blown glass decorations
a gentle flurry of snowflakes landing on coats and eyelashes
brushing against other people, trying to get through the crowd
the heat from a fire pit or heater near a stall
Smell
the warm, spicy scent of mulled wine and cinnamon and orange peel drifting through the air
roasted chestnuts, smoky and sweet, mingling with pine from fresh wreaths
sugary wafts of candied almonds and vanilla from baking stalls
a faint trace of woodsmoke from nearby fire pits or chimneys
pine from wreaths and garlands
fresh pastries and candied apples
warm chocolate and vanilla from dessert stands
the crisp, cold winter air tinged with spice
Taste
mulled wine, non-alcoholic punch, or eggnog liqueur
rich, velvety hot chocolate with a hint of nutmeg
soft gingerbread with nuts and candied fruit, icing melting on the tongue
roasted chestnuts
buttery stollen or fruitcake
savory sausages with mustard
sugar-dusted waffles or crepes
crispy potato pancakes
chocolate-dipped fruit skewers
sugared apples, sticky and crisp with each bite
Schmalzkuchen (tiny fried doughnuts dusted with sugar)

Palestine has many beautiful biomes, I can tell. What is your favourite? Which one makes you happiest?
oh EASILY the mountains. the mountains are gorgeous and sometimes the roads take you up and down the mountains and when you go down the slope your ears pop from the pressure but it's not too bad since it's very gradual. the views from the roads on the mountains are very pretty. in jericho they built a temple EMBEDDED into a mountain and you can ride up on a cart into the air and travel to the temple and there you get to see a beautiful view of the entirety of jericho and you can even see jordan in the distance!
i don't have very many pictures of the temple itself but this is the view from the mountian of the temple! in the distance you can see jordan's mountains as well.
nablus, the city my father is from, is built on top of two mountains next to each other. the mountain side that my family lives on specifically is called "fire mountain". i don't remember the exact history but i think it's along the lines of that the french (or some other colonizer) were trying to invade nablus a long time ago by coming down the mountain, so nabulsis (ppl from nablus) lit the entire mountain on fire to defend the city and made the french eat shit and run away lmao. i have a few pictures of nablus, not the greatest but i still like em
a lot of apartments are on the mountains but if you go down in between them that's where downtown is and there is RICH of foods and sweets and clothing and shops and really you can find anything down there. it also has some really beautiful places
anyway yeah ty for letting me talk about palestine i have been WAITING to get asked about it. i adore palestine so much 🫶🫶🫶🫶
