Pretty much what it says on the tin.
i wrote a goofy substack post about ultimately harmless things that pissed me off last month, because it's probably good for me to have an outlet for my aggression

(so mad i can’t see straight) Yeah i just don’t think chat gpt is a good classroom tool
positively ancient meme format but it really cuts to the heart of the early twenties slouching towards bethlehem reading experience imo
i worry i could never muster the depths of feeling for a romantic partner that rise unbidden within me for z-library
april was busy and i frequently went to bed at like 9:30. also i purchased several overpriced movie theater fountain sodas. but in may i will triumph. monthly recap:
read: less than zero (bret easton ellis), no one is talking about this (patricia lockwood), post-traumatic (chantal v johnson, looooved it), a people’s history of the united states (finally got around to reading it properly after skimming a few chapters in high school), the dragon reborn (robert jordan), famesick (lena dunham), kitchen confidential (anthony bourdain)
watched: sound of metal (2019), the drama (2026, thought it sucked tbh), project hail mary (2026, just ok but i really liked learning about the puppeteering!!), blue valentine (2010), cowboys (2020), you’ve got mail (1998), sleepless in seattle (1993)
has anyone else noticed that the ingroup is morally pure af whilst the outgroup is depraved and evil on an ontological level?
it’s literally never anything that a shower beer and a full play through of joni mitchell’s blue and a bit of tastefully discreet mid-shampoo weeping can’t fix
except when it is and tbh quite frequently that is the case

this phrase has given an almost incalculable buff to my casual hating
another month resisting the siren song of youtube shorts recipe tutorials and my beloved reality tv reruns. in the interest of full disclosure, i must confess that i played a slightly shameful amount of online sudoku on my phone this month. but!! i also had time for many great reads because i was not sleeping very well. you win some, you lose some. march recap:
read: wide sargasso sea (jean rhys), fates and furies (lauren groff), we were the mulvaneys (joyce carol oates), salvation on sand mountain: snake-handling and redemption in southern appalachia (dennis covington), the idiot (elif batuman, reread), either/or (elif batuman), never let me go (kazuo ishiguro, not for me tbh but glad i finally read it!), writers and lovers (lily king, reread), heart the lover (lily king), lost lambs (madeline cash, did not enjoy), the sluts (dennis cooper)
watched: after hours, high and low, nirvanna the band the show the movie, if i had legs i'd kick you, the royal tenenbaums, constantine (rewatch intended to convince my roommate that this profoundly terrible movie from my childhood is actually secretly one of the greatest films ever made (it's not)), scrapper, aftersun (rewatch), the man who wasn't there
the real people who need to be told Omg You People Can’t Do Anything is the people who can’t watch something if it’s not on a streaming service…. like girl let’s search Watch Free Online
something incredibly stupid that i think changed me as a person was the time i sent my older sister a pic of my (admittedly spartan) bedroom after i moved apartments and she texted back “buy a wall print or something what is wrong with you” immediately followed by “no self respecting lesbian is going to fuck you in the monk’s chambers”
like actually such a succinct and cutting burn that sometimes i catch myself avoiding emotional intimacy like the plague and think “oh my god…no self-respecting lesbian is going to fuck me in the (metaphorical) monk’s chambers…” and start acting right

your muscles being pleasantly sore after exercise is such a nice incentive I can see why they patched that in. the forced regular logins to avoid losing progress however are a predatory practice and deserve nothing but scorn.
still on my limited screen time grind. feb recap:
read: the long way to a small angry planet, a closed and common orbit, record of a spaceborn few (all becky chambers, loved these books in high school and got the reread itch lol), conversations with friends (sally rooney), stoner (john williams), flat earth (anika jade levy), the great hunt (robert jordan), yellowface (r.f. kuang), bunny (mona awad, did not enjoy tbh)
watched: blade runner 2049 (rewatch), the matrix (rewatch), ghost in the shell, pillion, hamnet (yes the seaside recitation was trite and lame but tbh i still wept and enjoyed this tbh), hot fuzz, rabbit trap, the green knight, pride and prejudice (rewatch), under the silver lake (super turbo mega sucked overall but the camera work fucked hard), broadcast news
