Day 3. Griffin
Davrin and Assan
My contribution for Taash's week. Found out about this late unfortunately. Taash is special to me so i wanted to take my time to really think the prompt through. This is for day 1: Adaari
Thanks to @datvcompanionweeks for hosting
Shale: The bone construct follows orders well, which already makes it preferable to many of the squishy creatures.
Emmrich: I shall pass your compliment along to Manfred.
Shale: It was not a compliment.
Emmrich: Ah. My mistake.
Shale: Though I will admit, it has refrained from screaming, whining, or attempting poetry, which is admirable.
Emmrich: He has excellent manners.
Shale: A rare and precious quality.
Taash is one of my favs from Veilguard. Hope i did this absolute beauty justice. Also i LOVE their design and color scheme. May try drawing them standing in the future, we'll see
Bad blood
My Inquisitor Lavellan has suffered greatly during her time in Inquisition. I'm writing a fanfic, and that's exactly how I feel. I've also decided to continue her suffering in the most interesting way possible, so in the section about the events of Veilguard, I'll be featuring Inquisitor Lavellan instead of the Rook. It'll be tough.
I struggled, but then I gave in to this desire. I allowed myself to sketch these two.
“Solas, var lath vir suledin!”
“I wish it could, Vhenan.”
“My love… I will never forget you.”
I think a lot about what might happen to him on the other side of that portal immediately after. Personally, I can’t imagine amputating your lover’s arm to narrowly save them from death and leaving them forever and not having a complete breakdown about it. Very hurt/no comfort. What do you guys think he’d do or feel?

Some slightly hastily thrown together Solavellan mush 🩷it was also my first time ever trying the charcoal tool in my autodesk program so please forgive me LOL Solas is a much better artist than me, for sure 🤣
When the Camp Sleeps...
I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of this one... I think the lighting is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. I am very proud of my little embers, though! That was legitimately a lot of fun to paint. Idk, something feels off. Maybe it's the character's anatomy, maybe the pose is too stiff? Constructive criticism from my fellow artists and art enthusiasts is greatly appreciated! Full below:
There's a lot in Veilguard that really makes me so sad for what could have been.. both in the real world and also the game world.
Game world, the very existence of the Lighthouse just puts me in Lavellan's mind so much. Like.. why couldn't Solas have brought her there? Lavellan deserved to see it.. she deserved to see his memories and witness his pain and past. She deserved to see the history of her people and learn everything that must be kept there. All her hunger for knowledge.. and these riches just sitting there.
He should have let her come with him.. and seeing evidence of his lonely existence just twists the knife. The little single bed by the wall in the hidden desk area.. the broken orb in the music room.. the single placesetting in the dark and dusty dining room.. the sorrow I feel playing this game. These details really captured the essence of Solavellan hell..
Andraste's Herald
A Dalish elf cannot be a symbol of the Andrastian faith. The Chantry of Orlais has decided so, so has Clan Lavellan, but not the Inquisition. Someone must close the Breach in Heaven. Day by day, the tasks become more difficult, and her new title feels more and more like a shackle.
The only place Lillian can escape her burden is the hill on the other side of the lake. But one gaze always follows her. Solas didn't know if she could handle it. She's too wayward, stubborn and doesn't know how to play by the rules, but also… merciful. This will break her.

So I’ve been playing Awakening for the first time…
Rook is often compared to hawke as a protagonist and i think it would have been cool if they actually treated rook a little more like hawke. By that i mean spread rooks story out over years.
Varric and harding have been chasing solas for 10 years pretty much. So, instead of rooks faction origin we have one were varric meets them while chasing solas and asks them to stick around. The first act could be the run up to solas ritual and encountering the other companions doing some of their storylines. Makes a little bit more sense to get sidelined by stuff when the world doesnt feel at immediate risk of ending.
I also think that the gods shouldn't be such an immediate threat i think they should be a little fucked up and disorientated for bit once they get out of the fade prison. Like getting the venatori and antaam on side should or could have taken more than a couple of days.
I think varric's team should've been rooks faction and with more significant lenght of time it would make more sense for rook to be varric's second in command and the eventual leader. Like let us experience the mentor/mentee relationship varric and rook had.
It works for the warden and the inquisitor to be just thrown into a leadership position because the inquisitor has the glowing hand and the only other warden in fereldan during the blight was alistair and he said not it. That doesn't really work for rook.
