Fk persona....
Dear everyone, I honestly don’t even know what to say, except that this whole situation is becoming deeply frustrating for me.
I am absolutely not a fan of surveillance software (persona) or of handing over private data to third parties, let alone having it processed or shared.
My funds have been frozen, and I don’t understand why I should be expected to send my face to a third-party service (persona) that, for all I know, could do anything with my data. They would already have: My address ( (patreon already have this) My appearance My ID (patreon already have this, too) And essentially everything needed to commit identity theft.
Persona is the company that has been widely discussed internationally due to serious data protection concerns. So I will do what one can do in this situation: I will contact support in writing and explain that my funds have been frozen without justification, and that I have serious concerns regarding the handling of my personal data.
Will it help? Probably not.
What happens next? Support will likely respond with: “Sorry, this is our policy, we are required to do it this way.” And I will respond: no, I still can’t accept that.
Consequence: Within a month, my account will be placed “on hold” and eventually deleted unless I act faster (i.e., delete it myself). The money in the Patreon account will then be gone.
Your money—money you wanted to give me for the work I’ve done for you.
And I am expected to receive it only if I hand over my personal data to a questionable company. But I can’t accept that. I don’t want that, and I’m frustrated by how I’m being pushed into this situation.
