Bowers Gang - Seven Deadly Sins
Wrath - a strong feeling of hatred or resentment with a desire for vengeance
Henry is a character known for his quick temper, which is displayed throughout both the novel and film adaptations. One of the first examples of this occurs when Henry brutally assaults Ben Hanscom for not letting him cheat during a test, resulting in him ending up in summer school. During this confrontation, Henry mutilates Ben's stomach with a buck knife or switchblade while his friends, Belch and Vic, visibly show hesitation.
In the 2017 film, Henry attacks Ben for being a new kid.
Another demonstration of Henry's violent nature is when he poisons Mike Hanlon's dog, Mr. Chips, out of pure hatred. He frequently uses racial slurs against Mike, showing his deep loathing and fury within.
Another show of his quick temper comes at the junkyard: Patrick offers him a handjob, which Henry accepts. But, Henry becomes enraged when Patrick suggests using his mouth and ends up slugging him the face.
The final demonstration of his bloodlust is his murder streak. He kills his father, Oscar "Butch" Bowers, then sets out to kill the Losers' Club.
Lust - intense or unrestrained sexual craving, or an overwhelming desire or craving
While not being as lustful as Patrick, Henry still demonstrates the sin of lust. He has a hostile obsession with Beverly Marsh. In the miniseries, Henry and his gang sexually assault her. They corner Beverly outside her home, caressing her and playing with her hair while holding a knife to her neck.
In a non-literal sense, he displays bloodlust and cravings for power. He bullies weaker kids, finding pleasure in their fear. He is unnecessarily cruel due to his extreme sociopathic desires to control and humiliate others.
Envy- a resentful, dissatisfied longing for another's possessions, position, fortune, achievements, or success
Deep down, Henry's actions are rooted in jealousy and insecurity. He grew up with an abusive father while lacking a mother. In the film, there is a deleted scene of him applying ointment to his back welts. In the novel, at only 12 years old, his teeth are visibly rotting. He craves what the Losers' club have: friendship and community.
Pride - an excessive love of one's own excellence
Vic is Henry Bowers' best friend, subsequently meaning he has to do what Henry thinks. He joins Henry in terrorizing kids; he enjoys scaring them, but not hurting them.
During confrontations, Victor acts confident and aggressive to show that he isn't weak, while secretly worrying about Henry's sanity. For example, while looking for Ben, they run into Bill and Eddie building a dam. Victor assists in destroying the dam while mocking the boys in their faces. Saying things like, "What a fuckin baby dam!" and "Ta-ta, boys... It was a real baby damn, believe me. You're better off without it," while destroying it.
Wrath - a strong feeling of hatred or resentment with a desire for vengeance
While he isn't openly full of fury, he is loyal to Henry. When Ben Hanscom is escaping from the "kissing bridge," he kicks Henry in the balls. While Henry is down, Vic hurls rocks at the escaping Ben.
During the rock war, Vic did the most damage due to being a baseball pitcher. He is a silent killer.
He doesn't instigate violence, but he isn't hesitant to join in.
Sloth - culpable lack of physical or spiritual effort
He is morally lazy. He is known for being the most morally correct of the Bowers gang. He knows what he is doing is wrong, but he goes along with it anyway. Once Henry's depleting sanity becomes extremely obvious, Vic warns the Losers' Club about him in secret, like a coward.
Gluttony - eating to excess
This is the most obvious sin due to his nickname, which is associated with overeating. In the novel, he is described as being 6'0 and 170lbs at 12 years old; however, in the 2017 film, he is around 5'9 and slightly overweight. His size is his imitation factor.
Less physically, he overindulges in violence. He has no problem beating kids up, eagerly joining, while occasionally showing hesitance at excess cruelty.
He also lacks self-control; he rarely questions Henry and follows the gang blindly.
Pride - an excessive love of one's own excellence
He is a prideful character; he is seen gloating to other kids in the novel. In the summer of 1958, he was playing baseball. He was on outfield, a ball struck him in the head, and Owen Phillips laughed. Belch beat Phillips up to preserve his pride and ego.
Another day at the Tracker Bros. Truck Depot, Belch is up to bat. He swings and perfectly times the hit. Tony Tracker cries, “That one would have been out of Yankee Stadium! Do you hear me? That one would have been out of fucking Yankee Stadium!” Belch brings that up to Eddie, bragging constantly.
Sloth - culpable lack of physical or spiritual effort
Belch is a particularly slow character; he hardly thinks for himself. He always listens to what Henry tells him to do, with little to no backbone. A sheep, following the herd. Occasionally, he questions Henry, but always follows orders.
Lust - intense or unrestrained sexual craving, or an overwhelming desire or craving
Patrick often displays the sin of lust; he is practically insatiable. In school, he often would grope the girls sitting in front of him; as a result, girls would refuse to sit in front of him.
In his free time, he traps strays and pets in an old fridge in the junkyard. He starves them to death for his sick sexual gratification and amusement.
In the summer, after a long day of lighting farts on fire, Patrick offers to give Henry a handjob, then further suggests a blowjob.
Pride - an excessive love of one's own excellence
Patrick Hockstetter is a sociopathic narcissist with solipsism; he believes he is the only true person. We see a glimpse of his sociopathic nature slip when he is attacked by IT using the form of leeches, his likely only fear. Patrick fears leeches because of an experience in his childhood. They feel too real to him.
His narcissistic nature is further presented by his disregard for other living things. He slowly starves animals for his own amusement, believing they aren't real. He gropes his classmates. He bullies other kids, for example, spitting a green loogie in Eddie Kaspbrak's face. In the 2017 film, he shits in Richie Tozier’s school bag, and tosses Stanley Uris’ Yarmulke/Kippah into a moving school bus while calling him a “flamer,” a slang word for a homosexual.
Greed- an insatiable and selfish desire to have more of something
Also connected to his antisocial behaviour, he is a selfish character who only cares about his own indulgence. One example of his greed is hoarding dead flies in his pencil case and keeping dead animals in an old fridge. He's confident about these actions until Henry threatens to expose him, causing him to rush to get rid of the evidence, ultimately causing his demise at the hands of leeches.
