@feralia-x
Asclepius #1, FERALIA_X, 2023, snake vertebrae, upcycled metal, bronze, steel, bone. [OC] Available on my etsy.
Feralia_x emerged from the hinterlands of alaska, half feral and covered in brambles, with naught but a dream and a backpack of bones (this is not, gentle reader, a metaphor, but a very real telling of events, mostly owing to a robbery and series of postal service mishaps).
Destined forâwell, not greatness, but perhaps strangeness, Feralia began their travels across the lower 48s, collecting various detritus along the way and fashioning it into meticulously crafted works of art, which they describe as a series of âsentimental memento moriâsâtiny monuments to the ephemerosâ
more a comedy of errors than a victory march, feraliaâs arrival in NYC preceded the pandemic by a matter of months, forcing them to grapple with limitation (both social and economic) the best way they knew howâby converting raw, frantic energy into tangible works of art.
There are many wares on displayâmost made of organic material, animal bone, and found objectsâbut perhaps most endearing of all is feralia themself. Once described as âa quick and scrappy skeleton armed with a magical backpack and an arsenal of useful skillsâ, Feralia does not disappoint (or, if they do, itâs at least funny to watch).
