This Cat is a Landmine

He likes to spy on the guests

from behind the kitchen door,

waiting until they are sitting on his couch

to vengefully scratch their hands.

His tail swings from side to side

as he carries his stuffed mouse toy

into his grey, wooden cat house.

He pounces on little girls

as they walk to school

and bites little boys' ankles 

if they dare to whistle aloud.

I found ripped sketchbooks once

though I had not seen him for days.

He dislikes even other cats

or perhaps they avoid him,

I'm sure they too have the knowledge

that this cat is a deadly mine.
