Today’s harvest
I ate so many figs today I gave myself a lip blister and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. (Like pineapples, figs, especially their sap and skin, contain an enzyme that dissolves proteins, my theory is that it irritated a preexisting cut on my lip leading to inflammation. I sucked on a frozen apple and that numbed it and now the swelling is mostly gone)
Also these are California native grapes which are sour and full of seeds but that okay because I love sour things. Pro tip, if you eat too much fruit and the acid makes your mouth hurt rinse your mouth out with baking soda water it actually helps a lot (does not work on figs, the damage has already been done), it also helps prevent tooth degradation by neutralizing the acid from the fruit.
