Speed skating on the streets of Chicago with Nancy Swider-Peltz Jr., who comes from an extraordinary family of olympians. She and her brother Jeffrey Swider-Peltz have both competed as speed skaters in the Olympics, coached by their Mom, Nancy Swider-Peltz Sr. Nancy Sr. was the first US Olympian to compete in four different Winter Olympics. Victor Pellegrino is a man on a mission. After opening a successful CrossFit gym a few years back, he realized that there just was not a brand of grips that worked for the rapid succession of movements that functional fitness uses. Out of this problem, Victory Grips were conceived. Crossfit champions across the world are starting to catch on, adopting Victory Grips as a piece must-have gear for their workouts.
I teamed up with Victor at CrossFit Identity in Atlanta, GA for a day of pictures with some of the athletes that use them.

Super fun shoot for DirectTV Latin America. These actors really had it going on!
Colombian superstar Sofia Vergara in Cartagena for Cerveza Aguila. Aguila has been a longtime client. They are the biggest beer brand in Colombia. Every year they shoot a calendar with the “Aguila girls” who are nothing short of Colombia’s most beautiful. They have been working on some big campaigns this year. For this one, Sofia Vergara starred in a commercial and is now the spokesperson on their website. They hired me to shoot Sofia in studio and on set for this Cartagena-based campaign.
If you haven’t already heart, Matthew McConaughey has taken on the duties of creative director for Wild Turkey bourbon. JWT hired me to go spend the day in Kentucky at the distillery with Matthew to make documentary-style still photos to use for the campaign. He was so down to earth. Right before the shoot, I injured my ankle in a soccer game- after the first long day of the shoot, Matthew caught me hobbling back to the main building of the Wild Turkey property. He drove up, and rolling down the window shouted with an amused smile, “Hey Fernando! You want a ride?”
Yes. Yes I did.
I worked with Atlanta agency FitzCo to create these conceptual portraits for ID condoms. They were run with the copy “Become One.” They were shortlisted for a Cannes Lion this year. The retouching process, to give these couples matching features, was a lot of fun.
Sometimes I get to spend a few days experiencing a brand new lifestyle. BFG hired me to hang out with truckers for a few days for a project they launched for Progressive Commercial Insurance. SUNDAYS ON THE ATLANTA BELT LINE This is our favorite thing to do on Sundays. We pack up the car with strollers and snacks and go park down by the skate park and just wander around the beltline and what's around it. Springtime in Atlanta is perfect for it. Last Sunday, Gastón bonded with his balance bike. He won't let us go anywhere without it now. He also tried his first Krispy Kreme doughnut. He was a fan.

DUSTIN LOVELIS
There’s an even-keel to the sadness that emanates from Dustin Lovelis’ album Dimensions. The album was recorded at New Monkey, the studio of late musical icon Elliott Smith- and if the place didn’t infuse the spirit of Smith into the album’s sound, then Lovelis naturally arrived to a familiar haunt where bright arpeggios filter through muddled guitar tones and drifting dissonance.

BERNIE SANDERS AT MOREHOUSE COLLEGE
Last night Bernie Sanders spoke to a crowd of nearly 5,000 people at Morehouse College- a Historical Black College in Atlanta, GA. During the speech, Senator Sanders addressed issues the issues of racism, income inequality and the need for reform of the U.S. criminal justice system.
Rapper Killer Mike gave an introduction that was inspiring.
