I operate Fernweh Woodworking from my studio in Central Oregon. I enjoy creating beautiful things. I love the feel of smoothly sanded wood and the smell of natural oils that bring out grain that has always been there, just under the dirt and roughness. Other times I exploit that old grey weathered board, utilizing the age and weathering to evoke memories of open country, green fields, and history.

I do looove working in my trusty @redwingheritage Moc Toes. Nice and flexible for all the weird positions I squeeze into while sanding these chairs, but also good soles for standing on concrete all day. 👌🏼 #redwingpartner Now for another several hours of sanding. A nice spot for some morning coffee! I go in such phases with Instagram. Some days I get all pumped with the interactions and post multiple times, other days (like the last 5) I barely post at all... and when I do it’s half-hearted. I guess I just get busy with real work!! Probably hurts my interaction rates but man sometimes it just takes so much effort. I just bought this (barely) used @grizzlyindustrial 20” helical planer on Friday and I’ve already run 29 tripod table tops (which I have to take up to 1/2” off each) and 45 feet of other stock through it.
